Thank you.[edit]

Thank you for the kind welcome to Wikipedia. I'm really just cleaning up obvious vandalism and deletable nonsense, but I hope it helps. -- CNichols 00:44, 28 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Hi, Thanks for fixing that page and for the welcome message.--TEK44 06:09, 18 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Jamaica[edit]

Hi. Hadn't realised you were Jamaican. In case you weren't aware of them, I thought I would let you know about the Wikipedia:Caribbean Wikipedians' notice board and the Wikipedia:List of Caribbean Wikipedians. There's also Portal:Caribbean but no-one is really maintaining it. Guettarda 21:38, 6 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You could sign up for Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket. This would allow someone working on West Indies cricket contact you for advice or clarifications. We're also working on getting the West Indian cricket team up to featured status soon, so if you could review, it would be greatly appreciated. =Nichalp «Talk»= 06:20, September 7, 2005 (UTC)

Toon81[edit]

Hi Journalist, thanks for your welcome. Is this a new thing for the English Wikipedia project? I've been a user on the Dutch one for a few months and they welcomed me within a few days. Not that I feel bad about not having been welcomed before (in fact, I like being welcomed!) but I'm just wondering what the policy is about welcoming people. Out of curiosity, are people welcomed after they make a certain number of edits? How does modding work here, are there people who are assigned a list of recent edits, or are users assigned to mods somehow?

I was an admin at a LotR related site, and when I was welcomed there I thought my welcomer was a bot. We turned into close friends later though, but I'd like to take this opportunity to encourage you to keep telling people you're a real person.

Thanks again for the kind welcome, --Toon 04:32, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Joolz's RFA[edit]

Hey Journalist, thanks for your vote on my recent RFA, your support was appreciated :) You also get my first admin action (rolling back your talk page) so thanks for that too :P -- Joolz 11:29, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Hi there. Thanks for the support on my RfA; I was surprised at how widely supported it was. Yes, my edit count is unhealthily large isn't it? Perhaps I should start heeding the "it can be fatal" warning! Please do keep an eye on me and my logs, especially while I learn my way around the new buttons. Thanks again. -Splash 16:42, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your support on my adminship nomination. I will definitively "get more involved", if my adminship nomination survives my critics, that is... :) --ZappaZ 19:01, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the welcome![edit]

Hello! My name is Tony, really, and I'm exactly 30 years older than you, my young friend! Your "User" page is beautiful! (I had better get to work on my own!) I very much appreciate your encouragement! Greetings from Louisville, Kentucky! --Orang Hutan 21:51, 9 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Uh...how?[edit]

Hi, I'm new and you sent me a greeting message saying you're not a bot.

How did you do that? How did you know I was new? Is there a place that shows new users? You must do this to a lot of people, is that possible? Why bother? Oh, and are you black? It didn't say in your bio, but seeing as you're from Jamaica. Sorry for asking this, I guess I'm accustomned to it being said so in black people's introductions (probably because the average 'white' person doesn't say "I am white" in theirs) Don't be freaked, I'm just curious, I don't hate black people...just people in general.

Thank you[edit]

I don't know what to say other then thanks.  :) --Admiral Roo 04:27, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

Understood. --Admiral Roo 04:33, September 10, 2005 (UTC)

RFA Leonard G.[edit]

Admiral Roo edited my RFA and did not revert when it got worse. I have gone through it by hand coding. This page is simply difficult to use - if this is a test, I suppose I am failing. So I am withdrawing my self nomination.

Here is my content:

Leonard G.[edit]

Vote here (9/23/05) ending 03:57 17 Sept 2005 (UTC) Leonard G. (Talkcontribs) -

Self nomination, registered since early March, 2004. Over 10k edits and numerous image contributions, see my user page for some of my contributions.

I am especially proud of my contributions to the Bridge article which is now only an index, but the content has been distributed to many of its referenced articles. For particular bridges, see San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge (a featured article), and its subarticle Eastern_span_replacement_of_the_San_Francisco-Oakland_Bay_Bridge and Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay. Graphic contributions include the bridge taxonomic chart in the bridge article among others. Shay locomotive, Pressure gauge and Thermostat include annotated images. For andextensive section of text without images see Suspension bridge#Construction sequence.

Well that did not work - I still have an incomplete nomination! I have restored to my last. The UI for addition of RFA is terrible! What should I do now - I cannot withdraw and do not know how to improve the incomplete RFA. Leonard G. 05:04, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If you nominate me could you please delete the bad entry if required? Thank you for your assistance. Leonard G. 12:57, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome![edit]

No problem on the revert, glad to help keep the vandals at bay! Rx StrangeLove 06:05, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking forward to participating here and your welcome has encouraged me to start sooner rather than later :) Scambler 19:11, 10 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Edit to Bill Gates article[edit]

Just saw this edit of yours. Could you please provide a specific reference to this online interview? Further, could you edit it to include the date instead of using the word "recently"? We should word articles so they make sense one or ten years from now. Thanks. - Fredrik | talk 21:00, 11 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

From User talk:Fredrik: I didnt write the info. Someone vandalised the page calling him a pedophile, so I reverted the changes. However, I reverted it one version too far, and the information (the one that you are referring to) was omitted, so I put it back.
Ah, that explains things. Thanks again. Fredrik | talk 15:58, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

RfA[edit]

Thank you for your support on my RfA...I'll try to be good Lectonar 11:05, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind words[edit]

Thanks for your note. I will add something to my talk page - I like to lurk, so I was being possibly more of a ghost than appropriate

I don't live in Dayton now, although I was born and raised there. Anyone who was raised there pretty much receives the history of the great people and places pretty much by transfusion, I think. For instance, I have always felt guilty that I haven't applied for a patent, thereby being below average for the city!

Bmicomp's RfA[edit]

Well, my RfA has not quite completed yet, but either way, I'd like to thank you for your vote and your support, regardless of the outcome. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 18:26, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think you may want to keep an eye on this guy. He did a small vandalism to George Bush but I'm not sure if he's copied you're name for a reason or not. - Trevor MacInnis(Talk | Contribs) 19:07, 12 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Hello Journalist. I've no idea what I've done to deserve such generosity, but thank you very much for your award. I really appreciate it. :) Cheers—encephalonὲγκέφαλον  23:57:42, 2005-09-12 (UTC)

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for your support in my recent RFA! All those extra buttons might not be a big deal, but getting all this positive feedback sure is, please let me know if you have any problems or comments regarding how I use all these shiny new levers and cranks! Nandesuka's RfA[edit]

I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for your support on my RfA. I'll try my best to live up to the trust you've shown in me. Thanks, Nandesuka 00:36, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome. It was much better than the other one I received.[edit]

I made what I thought was a very well sourced edit at the Ray Nagin article and even discussed it in the discussion page requesting an explanation if it was modified. It was deleted within minutes and I was called a "Sock." Is that an insult in this culture? I've asked the person who deleted it for an explanation but so far I haven't heard from him. Could you explain what I did wrong if anything? Thanks. --DKorn 01:57, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. And thanks for the reply. I'm following your advice. Still no reply from Aquillon. I'll wait till tomorrow before I add the section again, I suppose. --DKorn 02:40, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the RAOK Barnstar![edit]

Wow - thank you! I sing tenor in my church choir. Tenor is so the best part - tune-esque glitter as well as harmony (and all of the challenges it entails). So what part do you sing then? --Celestianpower hab 15:08, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I sing pretty much everything. I was on my high school choir —we annually enter national competition with other schools and have won 4 times—, and my choirmaster kept shuffling me around; one day I sing tenor, the other day I sing baritone (especially if enough baritones dont show up for rehersal) the other day I might go to Mezzo-soprano etc. I think the best part is alto though. Theres just something about it, their voices are always strong, think, and rich.

Journalist C./ Holla @ me!

Cool. I'm not what anyone would call a true tenor - just a high baritone. I can only get up to an F/G. I do take issue with the tenor artixcle actually. C5? No piece of music I've come accross has been written with a tenor part that goes higher than G. If you don't mind me asking, are you male or female? I would guess male (singing baritone some of the time) but I know quite a few female baritones (of which my old choir director was one. --Celestianpower hab 15:36, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Im male; I just have a high head range (A5 with head voice, D6 with falsetto). Since I was a kid about 10 or so, I became passionate about singing. Those were the time when we had those strong soprano voices :) I used to sing along to many singers (eg Rock Stars with high ranges like Bon Jovi, and a couple female singers like Patti Labelle) for long periods of time. Over a time, I developed a botton range, but my head voice didnt go away, so Im capable of singing pretty much every part with equal ease.

Journalist C./ Holla @ me!

Hi guys, C above middle C is not so rare for tenors in concert pieces (secular), G - A flat frequently in Byrd, Lassus and Gibbons, withthe occasional B flat. The highest writing for tenor I've seen is the "Olim lacus colueram" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, which is just ludicrous - from memory it goes up to f two octaves above middle C - but the music is about how painful it is to be a swan getting roasted, so it can sound painful. ; ) Alf melmac 16:16, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
PS Ian Gillan, now there's a man with a phenominal range, Child in Time for example, looses me singing along every time. Alf melmac 16:22, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I see. I obviously have a lot less experience than you two. I am however only 15 - 2 years ago I was getting Cs and Bs that were 2 octaves above middle C! I can get from about G, bottom of the Bass clef to G, top of the tenor clef. I'm sure it will get bigger as I get older and carry on working at it. --Celestianpower hab 20:29, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Yet again my perceptions of the young have been steam rollered: this project and those involved it, amaze me. My respect to you, young sir. Alf melmac 21:12, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
How old did you think I was? I thought you knew I was only 15? Anyway, not that it matters. And I probably agree with your perceptions of the young, we have at least 20 idiots for every person like me at my school (Their vandalism of that article is rather sad really). --Celestianpower hab 21:25, 17 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I knew you were a teen, but I didnt know you were this young. I thought you were probably 17. Im 18 — just turned it August 22. Im finally an adult- well legally :). To tell the truth, Im still 13 years old in my mind.

Journalist C./ Holla @ me!

Also Alf, I have no idea about classical music. Im from Jamaica, we mostly listen to Reggae and Dance Hall —Yeah Man! However, I personally have very ecclectic musical taste. As long as something is gratifying to the ears, no matter from what genre, Ill listen to it.
