Request on 09:29:03, 16 May 2024 for assistance on AfC submission by Ryotakatsuki[edit]

@Iwaqarhashmi: First of all, thanks a lot for taking the time in reviewing my changes. I tried to fill up as much information as I could to provide reliable sources but I'm not sure if they do not qualify as reliable or that I missed any reference. Could you check if the latest edit status is correct or, if not, pointing me to one specific source that may be problematic so I can review that and the rest and try to solve the issue? Thanks! The Kidnapping and Assassination of Chester Bitterman[edit]

Thank you for the quick review of my submission. You declined it with the comment: 'This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources. Reliable sources are required so that information can be verified.' I am perplexed at this reasoning, as there are some 108 references, all from published and verifiable sources. Most of them are originally published in Spanish but all are immediately available in their full text by the links I have provided. With so many reliable, free-to-use translation services available, the question of 'verification' is now simple and easy. Is it that you did not see the references? If you did, in what way are they not reliable and verifiable? They come from mainstream books, periodicals and newspapers ranging from the New York Times to El Tiempo in Colombia. Since the crime was committed in Colombia it is logical that the main supporting documents should primarily (though not exclusively) be in Spanish. Again, thank you for your engagement. I hope now to hear a clear explanation for your declining my submission. C.bonsin (talk) 20:27, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your frustration. It's great that you included so many references in your draft. The issue lies in how the references are formatted, they just need to be cited properly. Thanks! Waqar💬 20:38, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I'll review them one by one and correct citations where needed. Then resubmit. C.bonsin (talk) 20:54, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for deletion[edit]

Hello, Iwaqarhashmi,

If you are going to be patrolling newly created articles in main space, please follow the New Page Patroller's rule of thumb: Do not tag pages for deletion for at least an hour after they have been created and do not tag articles for deletion that are being actively edited by the content creator. For example, you tagged Maryam Umar Maigida for speedy deletion about 10 minutes after the article creator had made one edit to the page. One edit is not enough time to allow an article creator to create, develop and reference articles that are up to Wikipedia standards. If you have created articles, I'm sure you understand the time and attention necessary to create an acceptable article. Unfortunately, some editors do not use Draft space or their sandbox and create articles directly in the main space of the project. If all the article is missing is to demonstrate the notability of the subject, it's better to Draftify the article, placing a notification on the talk page of the article creator, than tag an article for CSD A7 speedy deletion. There are several scripts that exist that make this process very easy and simple to do.

Of course, if the content is unacceptable, if it violates copyright or BLP guidelines, if it is an attack page or vandalism, then there is no need to wait to tag it for deletion. But if an article just needs some attention and editing, please allow the content creator time to complete it, especially if they are currently editing the page. Thank you for your consideration to your fellow editors. Liz Read! Talk! 20:14, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You're absolutely right that a single edit isn't enough time for an article creator to develop a well-referenced Wikipedia entry. In the future, I will strictly follow the New Page Patroller's guidelines. My purpose is to assist in maintaining Wikipedia's quality, and that includes fostering a positive editing environment. I will prioritize allowing editors the chance to improve their contributions. Thank you again for your feedback. It helps me become a more helpful and responsible participant in the Wikipedia community. Waqar💬 20:26, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
