Proposed deletion of Provident Metals[edit]

The article Provident Metals has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOTABILITY - read like an advertisment

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Provident Metals, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Explanation for nomination of Provident Metals for Deletion[edit]

Good Day,

I came across the article, Provident Metals, in a random search on Wikipedia.

I did not delete the article, I only nominated it for deletion. Once nominated, an Administrator (In some cases more than one) reviews the article, the sources, the talk page and history and then makes a determination if it meets Wikipedia's criteria for an article. If the article does not meet the criteria, the Administrator may delete the article.

I nominated the article for deletion for several reasons with the most important reason being the subject is not notable to enough to justify a separate article.(WP:Notability) The article did not indicate why the subject is important or significant nor has the subject attracted the notice of reliable sources unrelated to the organization or product. Since no significance of the subject was indicated, the article read more like a promotion piece instead of an article in an encyclopedia. The subject's "connection" with the Royal Canadian Mint certainly isn't exclusive hence not noteworthy. Additionally, information that the subject once sponsored a defunct racing team does not in itself make it notable. Prior to nominating the article for deletion I ran a Google search in order to find something noteworthy about the company to add to the article. Unfortunately, the Google search of the subject primarily returned advertisements and reviews for the company and showed nothing to distinguish it as something other than one of many precious metal dealers.

I have not read the article on APMEX so I can't comment on it. In the next few days I will take a look at it. If you feel the article does not meet Wikipedia's criteria for an article, any editor can nominate an article for deletion.
