Thanks for your comments/changes to History of Pernambuco

Hi, Thanks again. I wondered if you could be more explicit on your tagging as to undo weight. I am thinking you are referring mostly to the last two sections where you also tag them as straying from the topic. However, if there are other areas I would appreciate your directing my attention to them. I am not certain how I would proceed with the two sections "Urban life" and "Recent History." These two are particularly difficult for me as sourcing is difficult, requiring knowledge of very recent events and judging what is significant (especially since my real area of interest in Pernambuco from 1580 to 1630). If I lived in Pernambuco I might have a better feel for what should be included, but I don't.P2dwight (talk) 19:38, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

@P2dwight: sure, I can try to elaborate some more, though with the disclaimer that I'm not at all an expert on the topic at hand. The major issue that I saw in the article in those last two sections was that they focused very heavily on one historical aspect: quality of life in the region and workers' rights. While these are two very important topics and Pernambuco seems to be a hotbed for class conflict, which would lend to there being more information about those topics in the article, the last two sections only talk about those things. They don't touch on political history, economic history, or other aspects of social history. Again, I'm no expert on Pernambuco, but one thing I noticed is that there is a table of leaders of Pernambuco towards the end of the article, but no mention of that table or the governance of Pernambuco at all in the modern era is found in the article. What is there is good information! However, the article encompasses the entire history of the state, and there are other aspects of that history that, while reading and copyediting, seemed a little glossed over or wholly missing. Again, I have no idea what information is out there on those topics, that was just the impression I got as the outstanding issue with the article, everything else was fantastic and it was a great read! Please keep me in the loop if you need a hand with anything specific, I'm in the middle of projects at the moment and would love to help. Fritzmann (message me) 21:53, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
As another note, the "Early Brazilian Period (1807–1889)" is very well balanced, having those subheaders that look at different aspects of history. 5th Virginia Regiment Article is Vandalized

Could someone please edit the article to remove the bits about James Due? He had absolutely nothing substantial to do with the regiment, although he may have served. There were many other members of the regiment who did just as much who have not been mentioned at all. So Others Might Eat Page

I'm utterly confused why I can't edit the page.

The information on the page is completely dated and i'm updating it with valid information. The founder is incorrect, and I added the correct founder. The history is non-existent, I added the correct history of So Others Might Eat. I'm an advocate for SOME and also remained completely objective. @Dwmccorvey: thank you for disclosing your conflict of interest. Per WP:COI, as an advocate for SOME (which I assume means you are a part of their organization), you should not edit any articles related to SOME at all. Additionally, you have removed information from the infobox which was properly cited and contributed to the article. If you have constructive information (which is suitably referenced), please leave a message on the talk page of the article. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me. @Dwmccorvey: you've hit the nail on the head, that is exactly the process we follow. Just leave a message on the talk page of the article that includes all of the outdated information, along with, and this is the most important part to get the info in the article, reliable, third-party references. That means a website, book, or the like that is not related to SOME that includes the information you want to add. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for more details. I've been looking for it too, but haven't been able to find it. I've asked MER-C, an admin who was recently active at Wikipedia:Copyright problems, if they could provide some assistance.

@BilledMammal: at the advice of another editor, I've rewritten the article to the best of my abilities at Talk:Glaucium calycinum/Temp. Both the distribution and description sections have been rewritten in such a way that, I believe, is the most unique from the referenced text while still maintaining the integrity of the information. @Parsedan: thanks for reaching out to me, I took a look at the article and it is certainly weird that it was redirected without any discussion whatsoever. I'm reaching out to a few other people for advice, but there will be a discussion on restoring the article and whether or not it is notable. Even if it isn't notable, I feel like you're absolutely entitled to explanation as to why that is, and not just a snap removal. I'm sorry this happened; it's got to be pretty frustrating. In the morning, I'll start a discussion on the talk page of the article it got redirected to so that you can make your case. In the meantime, if you want to be really prepared and make a strong argument (or if you just need something to direct your energy towards), I'd recommend digging a bit deeper on the subject and trying to find even more sources and information. Thanks again for your positive energy and level-headedness, and this is absolutely something you are entitled to "fight" for, albeit in a respectful way. WikiGap Challenge 2022

@Fritzmann2002: Excellent stuff in the Peer Review so far (through Battle). I will address everything, but today I had to work on taxes. I will start with a redo of the intro with your suggestions, and use a total of three paragraphs. For the bullet points under Opposing forces, I used them for larger battles such as the Battle of the Wilderness and the Third Battle of Winchester, but text–only for smaller battles such as the Battle of Droop Mountain and the Battle of White Sulphur Springs. I think normally bullet points are frowned upon, but some of the larger battles have so many units that I believe bullet points make it easier for the reader. Although I do not want to provide too much detail, I think it is also useful to know if a unit is experienced vs. new, good reputation vs. not-as-good, well-armed etc. TwoScars (talk) 20:46, 28 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello Fritzmann. While I appreciate the invitation, I don't have the energy to contribute to the Hypericum page in any transformative sense right now. However, if you run across any specific botanical or taxonomic questions while working on it, I would be glad to help you answer them. Just shoot me a message on my talk page. I am familiar with the Hypericum species of the mid-South region inside and out, but my genus knowledge deteriorates quickly when outside of my geographic "comfort zone". The references I would start with would be Flora of North America and Alan Weakley's Flora of the Southeast. I was about to add her dates to the lead sentence, to give chronological context (for those like me who aren't fammiliar with the Trung sisters' rebellion so can't use that for dating her), but then found you'd used AD in the text and CE in the infobox, so it was difficult to see how to follow your lead and keep consistent! No tight guidelines that I'm aware of. Supposed to be only ships sunk or aground, but many are ones just damaged or had a fire aboard like the Navy Assault ship that burned in Ca., never sank or grounded though she ended up beimg scrapped.

I left you a note about a trivial page-num problem (I suspect it's a case of pg 1 of the pdf vs pg 427 of the journal; I'm not certain that page numbers are strictly required for nine-page articles, and GA has never required anything about citation formatting, but whatever system you use would ideally not confuse people, and I figured that you'd like to know about it).
