- His article says that he founded Rodzima Wiara. Are you hinting that this shouldn't count as a separate movement, because it's part of a larger rodnover movement? Hi @Ffranc: How are you? I reverted that article back to the redirect as part of WP:NPP. I was planning push it into Draft, but I can't find a single standalone reference which verifies her as being notable. I do understand that in any particular field, however obscure, byzantine or niche it is, there is always somebody who stands out and is notable and is worthy of an article, but evidence must be visible, and I can't see it. - Scope creep: I made a new attempt with a couple of more sources. The main ones in terms of SIGCOV would be Schnurbein 2016, Mountfort 2015 and Rabinovitch 2002. Mountfort is the least substantial of the three, with about one third of a page about Aswynn. Ffranc (talk) 08:20, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Ffranc, It is certainly esoteric. I found several mentions and descriptions of her, on Google books. including several books she has authored. As an author alone, there is probably sufficient notability there, but it is very slim. Hi Ffrank, I'm happy to pick this up. I've had a quick perusal and have a couple of suggestions: as a reader, I found the references a bit overcomplicated. Could we merge them into 'Notes and references' and 'Bibliography' or similar? 'Further Reading' for a relatively short article doesn't seem appropriate. And the section headings could perehaps be clearer and more to the point. See what you think and let me know when I change them. From 'categorisation' I'm assuming British English. WikiCup 2022 March newsletter
And so ends the first round of the WikiCup. Last year anyone who scored more than zero points moved on to Round 2, but this was not the case this year, and a score of 13 or more was required to proceed. The top scorers in Round 1 were:
Epicgenius, a finalist last year, who led the field with 1906 points, gained from 32 GAs and 19 DYKs, all on the topic of New York buildings.
AryKun, new to the contest, was second with 1588 points, having achieved 2 FAs, 11 GAs and various other submissions, mostly on the subject of birds.
Bloom6132, a WikiCup veteran, was in third place with 682 points, garnered from 51 In the news items and several DYKs.
GhostRiver was close behind with 679 points, gained from achieving 12 GAs, mostly on ice hockey players, and 35 GARs.
Kavyansh.Singh was in fifth place with 551 points, with an FA, a FL, and many reviews.
SounderBruce was next with 454 points, gained from an FA and various other submissions, mostly on United States highways.- Ktin, another WikiCup veteran, was in seventh place with 412 points, mostly gained from In the news items.
These contestants, like all the others who qualified for Round 2, now have to start scoring points again from scratch. Between them, contestants completed reviews of a large number of good articles as the contest ran concurrently with a GAN backlog drive. Well done all! To qualify for Round 3, contestants will need to finish Round 2 among the top thirty-two participants.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Anything that should have been claimed for in Round 1 is no longer eligible for points. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. Separate matter from Yulia Tolopa discussion
In the Talk:Yulia Tolopa discussion I looked on your user page and saw you had a list of articles. I thought that meant you had written them mostly yourself, as that's what I use my user page for, but now see they're aspirational, articles you think should be written. Correct? If so, what is one of those that you would like written, and think has a good chance of becoming a reasonable article, but that you aren't going to get to yourself any time soon? I like writing about different subjects, and might try turning one of those red links green. If you're OK with that, I wouldn't want to step on your toes. The most prominent book there is Renan's Life of Jesus, which really is a serious omission from English Wikipedia and for example has an article on ruwp. Heliogabalus and Trilby are also serious omissions and should be pretty easy to find at least some sources for, although more expansive articles might be hard to write without French-language offline sources. But I do like to cooperate with other dedicated editors. Even when I think they are wrong! So very wrong! I collaborated on two articles after an argument with another editor as a sign of no hard feelings. (They're about games, so you may not appreciate them, but I think they turned out nicely, even if I do say so myself.) In fact, even on the article we discussed, Yulia Tolopa, there was a guy who tried to delete a source that I thought was rather important. We argued about it, eventually came to a half-satisfying conclusion (the tag objecting to the source is still in the article, but at least so is the source), and after it was over I found some reasonable images to illustrate some of his articles which he seemed to really like (if the number of exclamation points is anything to go by; still didn't remove the tag, though, sigh). I truly respect the people who donate their time and effort here, and like the idea that we can cooperate in general, even if we disagree on some details. - I can read Russian fine, but The Life of Jesus doesn't appeal as much, at least partly because ... well, I haven't spoken to a Rabbi in years, but ... So, I think I'll look into Trilby ou le Lutin d'Argail, as I like fantasy at times. I can also read French somewhat though you wouldn't want to see me write in it. I'll start it at User:GRuban/Trilby, but there may not be much there for some time. When I get some traction on a draft, I'll ping you and you can have a look if you like. I found some images. Though you can't tell from Yulia Tolopa, I really like images. However, I think one of the images is misidentified, and I'd like to confer with someone who cares, who is hopefully you. https://www.oldbookillustrations.com/titles/contes-de-charles-nodier/ is a list of 8 beautiful engravings by Tony Johannot of Contes de Charles Nodier, the 1846 edition, which means they are easily in the public domain due to age. This one comes from https://www.oldbookillustrations.com/illustrations/golden-dream/ where they claim it is called "The Golden Dream" (or, rather Le songe d’or), which is the title of the next story after Trilby in Contes. But I think they got the image identification wrong. I haven't found the 1846 edition, but I did find the 1859 edition scanned in Google Books, which also has all these illustrations, especially this one on page 28 which is still inside Trilby. I believe that it's pretty clearly an illustration of Dougal the fisherman and Jeanie his (debatably faithful) wife, finding the jeweled casket with their fishing boat, which is an important part of Trilby. Here, for example, p. 67 of the first translation. It is in no way an illustration of any part of The Golden Dream, which can be found translated here[1], and which is about some golden coins spread beneath a poisonous Upas tree that are stumbled upon by a succession of male travelers (and a lizard and an angel) - there is no casket, no boat, and especially no woman anywhere in that story. Trilby, ready to go
OK, I think I've mostly written it. It's a much more interesting story than I thought it would be! Please review, User:GRuban/Trilby. Specific issues you may want to address:
- The title; I found 4 English language translations, two call it Trilby, the Fairy of Argyll (one with and one without the comma), and two just Trilby. None say "Imp". I would just call it Trilby if I could, but that's the title of a mostly unrelated book (which, in fact, sparked the first two translations! hilarious! that will probably be the DYK hook...), so I think our article title should be Trilby, the Fairy of Argyll, rather than ... Imp ...
- Images. Did I say I like images? I found more beautiful images than I can fit in the article, between ballets and illustrations. Do you think some should go? I can add even more to be honest. Which should be the lead image?
- Analysis. I only found one good analysis source, so the Analysis section is a bit flapping in the wind, but yet I don't think our article is really complete without such a section. Can you find another?
- Publication history. I couldn't find a source that gives a comprehensive publication history; though I can easily find half a dozen publications in Google Books during Nodier's lifetime. Should I just list them?
- Style tweaks - I don't do style, my writing is choppy at best, always has been. It does contain the facts, but without beauty. If you can make the text flow in a few of the worst places, I'll be obliged. And a second pair of eyes is always welcome.

- I'm fine with any of the titles. I think I got Imp from this edition, not entirely sure though. The subtitle can work as a natural disambiguation but a parenthesis works too, and the primary topic is the hat in either case. I'll try to find some analysis, but probably not in a while. It could be worth mentioning that Nodier in his preface considered it to be separate from romanticism ("No one is more willing than I am to agree that the romantic school is a very bad school"). I would also recommend against using "fantasy" as genre label, as it is anachronistic, associated with conventions from British literature, and can create confusion with the romantic distinction between fancy/fantasy and imagination. Thank you! Literary fairy tales is a redirect, but better than nothing so I used it instead of fantasy. I'm afraid I kept the mention of Romanticism as if this isn't a prime example of the school then nothing is. Charles Nodier is clearly described in his article as a major figure of the movement, so methinks his objection in that preface is a case of doth protest too much, and/or the natural tendency of creative types to resist being categorized. Was Edouard Manet an Impressionist? But his comment could certainly be useful to mention in an expanded Analysis section, if there was more than one source for it. And I'm still uncomfortable with not putting in a publishing history, but don't really have a secondary source for it. All that said - pushed live! Binggrae Logo
Hey @Ffranc I moved the discussion here because my DYK submission has been approved now : D. I'm pretty sure the old binggrae logo doesn't violate copyright or the threshold of originality as I found it on namu wiki with the caption that says "it's too simple to be copyright". Most other pictures on that wiki have a caption saying its under limited use and copyrighted, but this one doesn't. I think it'll be ok to use it what do you think? - I'm not an expert on this at all. But it does have more than just letters and geometrical shapes, and I don't think it's less distinct than some of the examples of protected images listed here. It's ultimately a question for Wikimedia Commons (possibly this discussion page?), but I know little about the nuances and standard procedures here, so I just removed it from the article for now to be on the safe side. I'll pass on the Roman discussion for now, because I don't know what a good, stable title would be, and I don't think it's meaningful to keep moving articles around. I've thought about expanding and rewriting polytheistic reconstructionism and eclectic Paganism (and perhaps merge them into one article, since most sources describe them as a continuum), which might help the discussion. But I haven't found any good source that talks about the histories of the terms. Strmiska only talks about the perceived conflict between different approaches. It would be more interesting to outline how the discourse originated and where and when it has been prominent. Fernando Pessoa used the term "reconstruction" in the 1910s and seemed to be ambivalent about it - one of his alter egos used it in a positive manner, another in a dismissive ("Neopaganism" in The Selected Prose of Fernando Pessoa, Grove Press 2001) - but I haven't seen any scholar bring that up. - It would be indeed interesting to outline where the distinction originated (in the West, as in Eastern Europe such demarcation does not seem to exist) and the history of the two terms, which are, however, generic and may refer to different religions, not only to strictly "Pagan" ones (in Merriam-Webster's definition this term strictly defines "European and Middle-Eastern pre-Christian/pre-Islamic religions"), and in any case are not universally used among Pagans (for instance, in Eastern Europe the term "reconstructionism" refers to historical reenactment without any religious/spiritual meanings, according to the sources I have read about modern Paganism in that region). What is sure is that in their current wretched state the two articles would perform a better function if merged into the main article, where a well written section (Midnightblueowl's work from a few years ago) treats the distinction and the two terms (and alternative ones as well) on the basis of scholarly sources.--Æo (talk) 18:41, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

The image in the entry "Roman Traditional Movement" is identical to that of the other wikis, for example of "Via romana agli dei", from this it can be deduced that they correspond, in fact even their title is similar. The fourth round of the WikiCup has now finished. 383 points were required to reach the final, and the new round has got off to a flying start with all finalists already scoring. In round 4, Bloom6132 with 939 points was the highest points-scorer, with a combination of DYKs and In the news items, followed by BennyOnTheLoose, Sammi Brie and Lee Vilenski. The points of all contestants are swept away as we start afresh for the final round.
At this stage, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For the remaining competitors, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them, and importantly, before the deadline on October 31st!

WikiCup 2022 November newsletter
The 2022 WikiCup has drawn to a close with the final round going down to the wire. The 2022 champion is
- Lee Vilenski (1752 points), who won in 2020 and was runner up in both 2019 and last year. In the final round he achieved 3 FAs and 15 GAs, mostly on cue sports. He was closely followed by
- Bloom6132 (1732), who specialised in "In the news" items and DYKs, and who has reached the final round of the Cup for the past three years. Next was
- BennyOnTheLoose (1238), another cue sports enthusiast, also interested in songs, followed by
Muboshgu (1082), an "In the news" contributor, a seasoned contestant who first took part in the Cup ten years ago. Other finalists were- Sammi Brie (930), who scored with a featured article, good articles and DYKs on TV and radio stations,
- Kavyansh.Singh (370), who created various articles on famous Americans, including an FA on Louis H. Bean, famed for his prediction of election outcomes. Next was
PCN02WPS (292), who scored with good articles and DYKs on sporting and other topics and
Z1720 (25) who had DYKs on various topics including historic Canadians.
During the WikiCup, contestants achieved 37 featured articles, 349 good articles, 360 featured article reviews, 683 good article reviews and 480 In the news items, so Wikipedia has benefited greatly from the activities of WikiCup competitors. Well done everyone! All those who reached the final round will receive awards and the following special awards will be made, based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, these prizes are awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round, or the overall leader in this field.
- Lee Vilenski wins the featured article prize, for a total of 6 FAs during the course of the competition and 3 in the final round.
- Kavyansh.Singh wins the featured list prize, for 3 FLs in round 2.
Adam Cuerden wins the featured picture prize, for 39 FPs during the competition.- Z1720 wins the featured article reviewer prize, for 35 FARs in round 4.
- Epicgenius wins the good article prize, for 32 GAs in round 1.
- SounderBruce wins the featured topic prize, for 4 FT articles in round 1.
- Lee Vilenski wins the good topic prize, for 34 GT articles in round 5.
- Sammi Brie wins the good article reviewer prize, for 71 GARs overall.
- Sammi Brie wins the Did you know prize, for 30 DYKs in round 3 and 106 overall.
- Bloom6132 wins the In the news prize, for 106 ITNs in round 5 and 289 overall.
Next year's competition will begin on 1 January and possible changes to the rules and scoring are being discussed on the discussion page. You are invited to sign up to take part in the contest; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to have a good turnout for the 2023 competition.
