Recent edit reversion[edit]
In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.
I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) - Hi, thank you for letting me know. How can I add scientific / numerical information without infringing copyright? If I summarize it, it will not be accurate.
- I have viewed other similar examples such as: Cortinarius violaceus#cite note-Phillips 2006-4 where the references are numerous, but not all species have the privilege of so much literature describing them.
- Amanita citrina this page copies from a book, similar to the description I have provided.
- I would love to contribute correctly, please let me know how is best to approach. I am not familiar with this.

- I've often heard the complaint that there is essentially only one way to say this, so if my word choice is too close to the original, there is no other way to say it. However that's very rarely the case.
- Let me start by suggesting the ideal approach. I often write up a summary of a basketball game. I am fortunate that the game has probably been discussed in multiple places — an ESPN game summary, an AP game summary, and summaries by sportswriters covering the team. I will read each of the game summaries, put them aside then write in my own words what happens. The next step is to compare what I wrote to the game's summaries for two reasons: 1 there's a chance my summary mischaracterized what happened and it needs to be fixed, 2 there is a small chance my memory's too good and I ended up using the exact phrasing as one of the sources, in which case I'll rewrite. In some cases a particular writer might have made a point in a very well-written way and I want to use that wording, which is fine as long as it's a short excerpt, I enclose it in quotation marks, and I provide the reference.
- Your challenge is a little tougher because there may not be a large number of source articles discussing the subject, but make sure to read the source or sources put it aside and then write what you want to write in your own words. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to see that your wording doesn't exactly match the original. In addition, and quote brief excerpts as long as they are marked as quotations and referenced. - You're right, once I started writing myself it wasn't too bad. I republished with new edits, let me know if that fits the bill.
- Is there any way to see what I previously wrote? The similar species section was very thorough and I am having trouble recreating it. It was 100% in my own words and would be nice to add it to this new version.
