New Page Reviewer newsletter February 2020

Hello Dl2000,

Source Guide Discussion

The first NPP source guide discussion is now underway. It covers a wide range of sources in Ghana with the goal of providing more guidance to reviewers about sources they might see when reviewing pages. Hopefully, new page reviewers will join others interested in reliable sources and those with expertise in these sources to make the discussion a success.

Redirects

New to NPP? Looking to try something a little different? Consider patrolling some redirects. Redirects are relatively easy to review, can be found easily through the New Pages Feed. You can find more information about how to patrol redirects at WP:RPATROL.

Discussions and Resources
Refresher

Geographic regions, areas and places generally do not need general notability guideline type sourcing. When evaluating whether an article meets this notability guideline please also consider whether it might actually be a form of WP:SPAM for a development project (e.g. PR for a large luxury residential development) and not actually covered by the guideline.

U56 Crew roster

Do you know where I may find a roster of the crew of U56, or of the steamer Ivanhoe? I am also at a loss to locate the village of Lodvisk, where the crew of Ivanhoe was reportedly put ashore before U56 disappeared. Can you assist in locating it? 73.148.17.69 (talk) 01:55, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Thanks, Bruce@polycreteusa.com

Have no idea which U56 you are referring to, and I do not immediately know of reliable ship roster sources in any case. Dl2000 (talk) 03:09, 19 February 2020 (UTC)

Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter

Notice the word "incorrect". Nowhere does it say you may remove categories just because you don't want to or are unable to read the references.

  • @Sinobball:I disagree. The onus is on those categorising to incorporate the relevant elements from citations into the articles's text to reflect the category they ought to belong to. -- Ohc ¡digame! 18:39, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

February 2020

Don't refer productive edits or productive editor as 'vandal' like you did here. It is a clear personal attack. I was only restoring series of edits made by an editor with accurate edit summaries, and that version remained for nearly 1 month. His edits were correct that we should avoid spamming NGO links and stop using a non-reliable lecture for sourcing.

Also I am experienced enough to follow-up on my edits so it would be much better for you if you refrain from spamming templates on talk pages of regulars. Read how to avoid being a template creep. NavjotSR (talk) 05:39, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm relatively new to Wikipedia (in terms of the more complex parts, I mean)- would the edit be acceptable if I used the one source from the Polish Wikipedia and cited in on the English Wikipedia? Look, I don't want to cause trouble, but don't you think you're going overboard by deleting most of the article? I'm not going to lie, that article looks like shit, but still, I think someone who is probably an important figure in soccer (locally at least) deserves more than just a sentence. --72.208.178.248 (talk) 22:36, 2 March 2020 (UTC)

Notice

The article Sairandhri has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article is full of original research. No reliable sources provided despite being asked since 2012. Two citations provided are one is a mail group and other one was a (now nonexistent) self-published photography site. Both are unreliable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 99v (talk) 05:57, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Notice

The article Slater Street has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Just an average Ottawa street. Fails WP:GNG. BEFORE showed only routine coverage, and scant at that. I'd hoped that it might be notable from the 1900 Hull–Ottawa fire, but no such luck. I found an article with a single mention, but nothing rising to the level of significant. Unsourced since 2006.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Hi

Hi, you like television, for the French article, in the paragraph starting with En 2008 ..., replace the 2 words "seulement" by the words "surtout" and "principalement" respectively, which better represents the meaning of the sentence represented in reference number 7 and the source of the logo, which we see on this schedule dating from April 2012, that is to say a few months before the closure of the channel, that the program was still broadcast a little on this channel but was mainly broadcast and associated with the TVA network.

It will be adjusted with the English article. I can't do myself because I don't have account. Can you do it for me? Thank you!--94.156.203.124 (talk) 20:02, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Regarding editings in Appapuram

Hello Dl2000,

I have initially started the page Appapuram, a long time ago.

That is to refer to the Appapuram in Nadendla Mandal of Guntur district.

However, after sometime, someone else has started editing this page, as if the article is written to refer to a different Appapuram, in the same Guntur District but in a different sub district ( Mandal )

What I did to the Article yesterday was to undo their changes and to make it to refer to the original Appapuram, the page has started for. I tried to undo their changes and tried to refer it to the Original Appapuram, earlier also.

You may please go to the beginning of the history to verify that. Then you may please take necessary action. It was unfair to use the words 'Disruptive Editing' and 'Vandalism' about my editings.

If there is something wrong with the content I write or photographs I put in, yes, please correct me.

Thanking you in advance,

Best regards, Lakshminarayana — Preceding unsigned comment added by Plnforu (talkcontribs) 20:25, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Samuel Blais

Hey there! Can I ask why you made this edit to Samuel Blais. As a Canadian, it should be written mdy not dmy as European etc. countries would. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:59, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

Not necessarily - read MOS:DATETIES a little more carefully. Dl2000 (talk) 21:04, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
My apologies. Is there a reason you prefer dmy because I've nominated the article for GA and I don't wish to edit war over something as benign as MOS. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:07, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
It seemed to be the previously established format, but a closer look at the history suggests the original formatting was somewhat inconsistent. Agree there are better things to do that an edit war so other than the one ref cleanup, will move on from this particular article. Dl2000 (talk) 21:12, 23 May 2020 (UTC)

How I can remove this template?

Your only 2 edits to Viviana Sofronitsky removed content without justification. You did not fix any issues, certainly not any referencing issues. However, looking at the article, there are no proper inline citations, just external links, so that requires fixing. Dl2000 (talk) 15:46, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi Dl2000. You recently tagged a ref to the Olympedia site as being possibly unreliable. Incase you weren't aware, this site replaced Sports Reference, which is now defunct. Re. Inamul Haque Khan date 'corruption'

Hi there, I hope you find this … amusing?

I noticed that the birthdate in the lede of this page was 'corrupted'. I found that the edit that caused the problem is yours, back on 2 June 2018! See here. I 'fixed' the date, but only by removing the Urdu script. See my 'fix' here.

I tried pasting the Urdu back in, and a few other tweaks, but the error re-occured. Just to the right of the Urdu script there was a ; semi-colon, but it is not there now, I tried returning it it, but it also didn't solve the issue.
The 'diff' view shows the semi-colon before the edit, but doesn't highlight it as being deleted/moved by your edit, it just … disappeared!

If you solve this, please let me know. Regards, 220 of Borg 12:08, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

@220 of Borg: Seen such rendering problems before, not sure how that got missed, bummer. Have tried various tricks in the past including non-break spaces, or jamming the 'corruption' with another character and hiding it with background colour font. But it looks like adding it back with {{lang-ur}} is a practical solution for this. Dl2000 (talk) 12:19, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Done Yay! 220 of Borg 16:44, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Wow, quick answer. I think I've come across it before too, recently. I did manage to fix it, can't remember exactly how or where. I think there was an extra space in the date or possibly a hidden character?
I came across it when trying to fix/revert massive over-linking, unnecessary piping, really weird word linking, poor grammar, flowery phrasing, and excessive verbosity, on Pakistan nuclear program related pages.
Another set of eyes may be of help. I have suspicions of sockpuppetry. (Am I allowed to say that here?) 220 of Borg 12:45, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
If templates such as {{lang}} or {{nowrap}} don't work, and text keeps relocating around RTL language texts, something like 12 June 2020 could be rendered as:
12<font color="#ffffff">i</font>June<font color="#ffffff">i</font>2020
which produces:
12iJunei2020
(unless WP introduces dark mode). Dl2000 (talk) 16:58, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Question

Hi Dl2000, how are you ? what did you put the template "close connection" on Guilhad Emilio Schenker entry ? I don't know him. Tzahy (talk) 21:33, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

@Tzahy: The template was added by @Bradv: last year. Nobody was suggesting that you have a conflict of interest in this, rather it involved editing from that time. However, you should not delete a COI notice without justification e.g. the article content was since cleaned up and edited to address any COI concerns. Bradv may have further insight into the COI concerns and should be able to reevaluate the article to see if it still shows COI concerns. Dl2000 (talk) 02:24, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
Thanks Dl2000, I didn't aware to that rule. Tzahy (talk) 04:28, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Edit War on Winwin's Wikipedia

Hi, I would like to apologize if it seems like I do not respect the other user. However, after reading their version, it seems that there were a few misleading information on the person the article is about. I would like for an unbiased third party to go through my version and perhaps take a look at every single reference I have linked. William Burke, 7th Earl of Clanricarde

Dear Dl2000. Thank you very much for your recent edit on the article "William Burke, 7th Earl of Clanricarde". I see you are an extremely experienced Wikipedian. Chapeau! I will see whether I can do something about the needed citation, but that may take time. You removed the comma from "19 July, 1744", probably inadvertently; or was this AWB? You do not seem to have noticed that this comma appears in a quotation from Lodge (1789), who uses an old-fashioned date format. I try to conform with the date formats in MOS:NUMBERS, but I believe that quotations should be left alone. Please, be so good as to reestablish the correct quotation. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 04:26, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Fixed - agree that the quotation should be intact. Not entirely sure how that was missed, but will more carefully watch for the "ps" quotation parameter in the future. Dl2000 (talk) 13:16, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
@Johannes Schade: Also it's not AWB in this case. But combination of some scans and manual work. Occasionally and unfortunately typos and inadvertent keystrokes can happen, never batted 100.0%. Dl2000 (talk) 13:19, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Regarding recent changes done for Sant Nirankari Mission Page

Hello,

This is regarding your message for me regarding the recent changes that I made on page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sant_Nirankari_Mission

The reason for that page was that earlier there were many wrong facts which were given related to the ideology and history section of the organization. But, now it has been corrected and re-uploaded. All the content was taken from https://www.nirankari.org/ as well as from other social media channels of the organization, in addition to the members of the managing committee.

Requesting you to please let me know if you need any other information or any proof for the authenticity of the information (like an email from official id or any letter regarding the facts), but please allow us to upload the correct content related to the mission.

Thanks,

--Sandeepchaudhary.er (talk) 16:39, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Re: Sant Nirankari Mission

Thanks Dl2000, for all your guidance and support. Just couple of points ::

1. No content has been directly copy and pasted from any website. However, we have referenced the official website of the mission for the information (especially History section). 2. I do not have any direct contact with the mission, however I have been reading a lot about the ideology and the message of the mission. Based on that, current page on wiki, doesn't have correct information which I wanted to take up and update.

Let me try to get more reliable sources and come back on the edition part. However, if you can guide further that if all the reliable sources should be from web or can we give reference of other books (not available online) and if so how.

Thanks once again, --Sandeepchaudhary.er (talk) 18:25, 9 July 2020 (UTC)

Submission

Please help me to submit my article Draft: Yau Usman Idris Sadeeqzaria (talk) 21:19, 16 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for tidying up Jane and Katherine Lee. I think there is no reason to have British English or DMY templates, however, even though they were previously in place. Previous editors have apparently decided that one or both of the actresses are Scottish. There isn't much strong evidence in reliable sources, but they appear to have both been born abroad to an American father and Irish mother who worked in vaudeville in New York. The sisters' film and stage careers were largely American, despite some international stage tours. Thus per MOS:TIES and MOS:DATETIES, I think American English and formatting should be retained. --Animalparty! (talk) 05:20, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Understanding the "Use Indian English" template

Hello DL2000, I hope you are doing well during this craziness called COVID. I am reaching out to maybe take your help in understanding the "Use Indian English" template. I noticed that you re-added it to a page I had recently removed it from. I probably made an error. But I want to understand what criteria to apply to an article that forces it to follow certain English standards? Amiwikieditor (talk) 05:36, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

  • The {{EngvarB}} template is well suited to all articles from the British commonwealth countries, as these countries essentially use the same spellings that are picked up and corrected by the ENGVAR script where necessary. It is the default, while other articles tagged with "Use XXX English" templates are not relevant to semi-automatic maintenance of the correct code of English used in tagged articles. -- Ohc ¡digame! 14:34, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
    • I did understand that it is suited for that also from the template article page. I am trying to understand whether it is mandatory for articles from India, for instance. Also, what makes a given article an article from a place. Amiwikieditor (talk) 18:03, 31 July 2020 (UTC)
      • @Amiwikieditor: Assuming that Nagarro is the page in question, I took a closer look and it seems to be a German subsidiary company, apparently with many operations outside Guragon, so the tag was switched to {{EngvarB}} as @Ohconfucius: suggests. Some articles have obvious strong associations with India (geographic locations, communities, people) so Indian English would seem valid for those. Others are not as clear, for example an article whose subject is associated with both India and Pakistan may be better as EngvarB. Dl2000 (talk) 14:04, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
        • I'd just add that none of these templates are mandatory, but {{EngvarB}} templates are helpful for those users who maintain spelling variants. It can be applied to virtually every article from a Commonwealth country except Canada. Some editors may want to apply the Use XXX English template instead, but it's not a practice that I endorse because it's superfluous to script-based maintenance of Commonwealth English spelling (it doesn't make any changes to spellings of Indian/Malaysian/Hong Kong words). -- Ohc ¡digame! 21:44, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I just want to know the reason for this edit. I am not an Indian and I don't use IN-EN. --AntanO 08:11, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

The article is about an Indian kingdom, so the variant clearly seemed to correspond here. Not Indian/en-IN either but need to work with variants throughout WP. Also remember that others who edit the article may use en-IN. Dl2000 (talk) 18:14, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

May I ask if this edit was really necessary? It makes the article unreadable, and if you are sufficiently vexed that you cannot verify Roger Glover joined Deep Purple in 1969 and left in 1973 .... well, try a Google Books search. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 18:03, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your reaction to that February edit. Probably should have restored the article-wide BLP sources tag instead. Talk:Gayathri Girish

Hi, I am editing the page of Ms.Gayathri Girish at her request. I saw your comment to my edits and thought I would ask for your help. I am new to this and hence it would be great if you would be able to guide me on how to ensure her page is perfect according to wiki standards. You may notice I edited her page again today using the inputs you provided. I have added a couple of more references to what was there earlier as well as a photo that I directly sourced from the subject. Does the page now conform to the standards? Shall I continue adding more details to the page? Also can I use references to her personal blogposts - I ask since this is a biographic page and some information does not have a secondary source for verification. Pls advise. Regarding edits on page: Tallapragada Prakasarayadu

I notice that you have deleted a large chunk on the page of Shri Tallapragada Prakasarayadu (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tallapragada_Prakasarayudu). I had added updates to this page based on his autobiography, written in Telugu language. I would appreciate if you could guide me about what within the sections you have deleted was unacceptable. Shri Prakasarayadu was a well known person in Andhra Pradesh, India. Unfortunately, there wasn't much about his life on the internet and the wikipedia page was my way of bringing to the world knowledge about this great luminary. Xingu River

I do not understand the full revert. The removed information is relatively unimportant but can certainly be kept if anyone wants it. The problem is the description section which seems to be a major improvement. Is there any reason that the description section should not be changed to the new version? Benjamin Trovato (talk) 04:36, 12 October 2020 (UTC)

DI2000 wrote:References and citations (see WP:CITE) are rather important. The problem with your edits [3] [4] were 1) you removed existing citations and article material without justification, those sources seemed to be valid; and 2) your addition to the Description was not properly supported with citations. The Smithsonian Atlas you mention would seem to be a valid source, but it should not be the only or predominant source for the article; the description should not be changed without adding supporting sources/citations and those changes should retain the existing sources where appropriate. Please take some time to review WP:V and WP:CITE before making significant changes such as a new version of the river's description. Dl2000 (talk) 16:47, 12 October 2020 (UTC)
In my POV 99% of Wikipedia footnotes are useless. In this case I prefer not to update the article if it must be cluttered with meaningless citations. Close this. Benjamin Trovato (talk) 08:56, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Goran Stefanovski

Hi, this is Patricia Marsh-Stefanovska responding to your comments on my edit of Goran Stefanovski's Wikipedia page. I was Goran's wife and translator for 44 years and wrote the biography which was used by wearespacer.co.uk and translated into Macedonian for his page in that language after his death in 2018. The biography I used is from my own Foreword to Goran Stefanovski : Five Plays, published by The Conrad Press in 2019. I have the copyright to this text. My Wikipedia entry from 2019 appears to have been altered by someone and I have been unable to repost it and make amendments and additions to it. I have asked Spacer to delete the text they copied from the original Wikipedia page I wrote and replace it with a briefer piece I have given them. I hope it will then be possible for me to have my edit of Goran's Wikipedia page republished. Many thanks.Pmarshstefanovska (talk) 18:25, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Goran Stefanovski

I have added citations to the piece, especially references to Goran's university website, and removed statements which cannot be verified. I have also made the wording more impartial and suitable for an encyclopaedia. I would be very grateful if you have some time to check the new text and make sure it now conforms to Wikipedia requirements. Many thanks. Pmarshstefanovska (talk) 08:15, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

How many editor should I consult to reach a consensus regarding a dispute or misundersttanding for Puya (Meitei texts)

Puya neither is a single boook here is the proof.its about a puya Nongsamei Puya[1]which write about Muslim settlement during King Khagemba

As many as 120 puyas were burned are they all religious book?..tagging puya as only religious book is a mockery to puya.of course there are many puyas even fake ones.(I mean not written by Maichou). There are religious puya too like the Sanamahi laihui I will never say such puya are historical book..What I want to prove is Puya is not a single or few books.Any written records by Maichou are termed as Puya even Cheitharol Kumbaba is a puya.Read puya history. Also the caption use in infobox is also wrong "Wakoklon hillel thillen salai Ama Ilon pukok" puya is a top research work of the maichous the writer maichou is Angom chaopa and it was mentioned in that book it was transcribed as it should not be lost during Pamheiba time and that book was verified by national archive of India in 1989 for the timing the book was written. [2] Luwanglinux (talk) 19:25, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

@Luwanglinux: Have no expertise on this so can't really contribute to this issue. However, it seems best to keep that discussion on the article talk page Talk:Puya (Meitei texts). However, not sure what you mean about "single" book, as the current version of the article describes this as "religious texts" (multiple) and the List of Puya describes "number of archaic Puya books" (again plural), nothing in the article seems to be claiming this to be a single book. Dl2000 (talk) 19:51, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Dl2000 (talk) I mean this article writing about Puya as religious book is total misinformation and misleading. There are numerous puyas written on various topics.kindly check the link its about a puya willit be religious too.its historical fact.Luwanglinux (talk) 19:56, 23 October 2020 (UTC) check this link too it has ISSN number too.I have expertise in this article but they keep reverting my edits.[3] There are many more but if Puya is being portrayed as religious texts it is a mockery to Meitei people and Manipur (princely state).I want to state my point clear Puyas are book written by Maichous(Meitei scholars) so there are different varities from Historical records to books written on literature and religious belives.Luwanglinux (talk) 20:03, 23 October 2020 (UTC)

Jeri Lynne Johnson Article

Hello!

I tried to take out as much promotional content as possible on my Jeri Lynne Johnson article.

Please let me know if more work needs to be done.

Thank you! Brookewalden (talk) 00:40, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

Dear Dl2000,
please don't "correct" the date format in Joseph Jefferson Farjeon, at least not in the places where you have done it now three times: 24 November 2019, 10 August 2020 and 2 December 2020. Why keep you doing it even though each time you changed it I explained in my revert why you should leave it the way it was before:
Firstly, the format of the date on the cover of the Flynn's Weekly is always "month day" (e.g. "June 20"), not "day month". Secondly, the title of the Detective X. Crook short story in that article is "August 13th", not "13 August"; it has nothing to do with a particular date format that has to be corrected, it's just a title of a story! Joseph Jefferson Farjeon never wrote a short story called "13 August", but he wrote a short story called "August 13th", so simple is that.
I very much like the standard date format and use it most of the time myself. But there are places where it is not correct for some reason or another like in this article.
So, how do we handle this now? Will you change it back yourself or should I do it?
Best wishes Stillbusy (talk) 02:06, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

@Stillbusy: I've changed it back, and quoted the dates, although publication dates are usually not treated verbatim the way titles should be. Must have been thrown off by unbalanced italics in the past. Hope these changes help. Dl2000 (talk) 02:24, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
@Dl2000:That's perfect. Thanks Stillbusy (talk) 02:33, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Unfair deletion of my content

Hi, Thanks for editing my posted content. But, can you tell me what reference can be added for a person's early life and medical background? Should I upload birth certificates and college pass certificates? You have been very unfair to label my content as an advertisement while it was written from a neutral point of view. Everything in life doesn't have a reference.

Mrinalaha (talk) 17:20, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi,

Kindly let me know why part you think is written like an advertisement. I have re-written it many times after reading wiki guidelines, but couldn't identify it.

Moreover, what references I should put to include early life and medical career? You have been repeatedly deleting those segments. Those are generic details and references will be almost impossible to provide for those.

23.07 PM, IST 06-12-2020 Mrinalaha (talk) 17:37, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi,

I have edited out all promotional words from the entry and have added maximum references. Therefore I have deleted the top template saying it was sounding like an advert. Hope, you won't have a further issue with the entry this time. Just needed help from you. How to insert "Indian Social Entrepreneur" below the name Nomal Chandra Borah. For example, when we type Robin Williams in Google, it's written as American Actor below the name in the search bar or elsewhere. How to do that? Kindly suggest.

New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello Dl2000,

A chart of the 2020 New Page Patrol Queue

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Happy New Year!

Empire AS Talk! 18:10, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

I noticed that you switched the date format back to DMY at this article. Is there a reason why you believe that this American made product, created by an American company should use DMY instead of the standard MDY used in the United States? MOS:DATETIES suggests that the article should use the MDY since it's an American companies product. Please state the reasons why you think this guideline should not be followed in this article. You also mentioned in your summary that you were repairing template errors. Exactly which templates were broken? I didn't see any.--JOJ Hutton 13:16, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

That was due to noticing the template was altered from what had been set. There was no rationale for the change (until your messages), nor was there an obvious US theme in the article or its categories, so was assumed to be a mistake, something which is sometimes encountered. Anyway, let's consider the guideline at hand, it may very well apply to the articles on the 3DO product or its manufacturing company, but the article in this case is a list of games that run on 3DO. Many, and perhaps most, of these games are not American-produced (e.g. products from some Asian based companies, one from UK's Sensible Software), therefore the article is not particularly US-themed, therefore your proposed change actually goes against to the guideline you've stated. Dl2000 (talk) 04:10, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
The parent topic is the 3DO, so yes MDY applies per the guideline. It is also assumed that there are American made games on the list as well, so how do you justify the statement "your proposed change actually goes against to the guideline"?
Secondly, you stated in your edit summary that you made the change due to "template errors", now you are saying that you made the change because you notice that it was altered. Which is it? MDY is not an "error". It's a justified date format that is used on Wikipedia on articles with stronger ties to US topics. The 3DO is an American made product. A single game made by a British company in the list hardly justifies changing the date format to DMY.--JOJ Hutton 13:59, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Feedback on your message

Hello, I received your message below and do not understand a few things : - Are you responsible for checking content updates? - the new content I wanted to put on the website is largely a rewrite of the existing content and, above all, an extension of that existing content because it was no longer up to date. The biggest changes were those from 2019 onwards where there was no update. The other changes are Pubmarket!2021 (talk) 09:17, 11 January 2021 (UTC)more a change in wordings. Because it was a translation of the dutch part, I copied the new text and I think you thought it was totally changed. I can try to add sources but I see, in the part which was already online, there were almost no sources either. Please advise what I can do to put this content, as it is a more up to date version, online?

Hello, I'm Dl2000. I noticed that you recently removed content from Proximus Group without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Dl2000 (talk) 00:11, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Reply on your message - update content

Dear DI2000,

I have a few questions: - Are you responsible for the content that appears online on wikipedia? - the content I put online was not paying. Above all, it was a rewrite of Proximus' history (different wordings sometimes) and, more specifically, an extension of the story because from 2018, it was no longer complete. An update in function of reality. If you put the two texts side by side, you can see that little was changed in the initial phase. I copied this because it was a translation from Dutch and because of this it may seem that everything was changed. - adding sources: I see that in the current texts there are hardly any source references. My source is mainly Proximus.com - Can you please advice how we can put the modified content online? What needs to be modified specifically?

Thanks in advance Pubmarket!2021 (talk) 09:35, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
