White Croats

I rewrote the article White Croats with over 120 ref-notes. Previous had templates of Original research and Refimprove, for obvious reasons, but don't understand their return by you for current revision? Is there some issue I didn't notice? As for the infobox, it's just unnecessary as there's no info to put in it, and if was (and don't know which - previously only under language Lechitic, which is obvious OR), don't see how much it would improve the article.--Crovata (talk) 11:21, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Re:

Can you be specific and tell me what is the wrong with my edits? because my first edit i reverted the content which was removed by IP address [1], and the second i fixed the problems of references [2]. I think you made a mistake and you should restore my edits on Al-Nassr FC. Hazel (talk) 15:02, 20 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, this is Hsiao-Hung Pai. The reason why I removed the picture was because I don't want to use any picture for the Wikipedia entry. Hope that is acceptable. Apologies for the inconvenience caused! Secret red (talk) 07:46, 31 March 2016 (UTC)

you reverted my edit?

How was that vandalism? Sorry I'm new to editing wikis, but it's a proven fact that cyclobenzaprine is significantly less effective at treating skeletal muscle pain than carisoprodol. I didn't say cyclobenzaprine wasn't safer, I said it was less effective, which is true.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.171.231.193 (talkcontribs)

Wrong number - haven't edited Carisoprodol or Cyclobenzaprine, at least in recent times. @Jytdog  reverted your edit because you did not provide a source for that "proven fact". Without such verifiability, anyone could declare "facts" such as Elvis Presley inventing the Nitrogen laser. Dl2000 (talk) 15:21, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Kota Hazrat Nizamuddin Jan Shatabdi Express

Hi there,

Could I have your opinion on Leo Frank's edit for Kota Hazrat Nizamuddin Jan Shatabdi Express. My opinion is that it removes a large amount of information that makes the page what it is.

Superfast1111 (talk) 11:44, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

My apologies.

Dear Dl2000,
I apologize for removing this template, thereby causing you some unnecessary work to re-instate it.
I think it was only in the 'W' list, which is why I removed it, for consistency. Again, I am sorry if I did something wrong.
Please let me know if it should also be inserted in all the other lists, and I'll propagate it across there too. Thank you.
With kind regards;

Article Inykhnum

Hi there. I undid your revert on Inykhnum. The changes I did are part of an update project. Our portal is working on meeting a new and more reader friendly standard. As a member of this project I work especially on early dynastic nobles and officials. My changes are always patrolled by my co-authors, thus no vandalisms. Content for WMH

Hello,

Thank you for your message. I've requested a username change purely because I take your advise it could be misconstrued as COI - which it isn't. This article and any amendments are purely for factual purposes, not promotional. No monies or any other kind of promotion has taken place with the items cited. Perhaps a little too much citing has taken place; however that was purely to ensure that the content remained factual and not "fluffy" or "promotional" in anyway.

Please advise further with any further recommendations. I wish to follow all guidelines.

Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wmhagency (talkcontribs) 16:24, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Disclaimer above CityFALCON article

Dear, Dl2000!

Above the article on CityFALCON (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CityFALCON) there is a window which state, that the article uses unreliable sources, but there are links on such sources as Forbes, Businessinsider etc. What shall I do to make sources more reliable? DMY/MDY

Greetings. I have a couple of queries about your edits to Daulis Prescott: 1. Could you point me to a list on WP where it says that Colombia uses DMY instead of MDY, or other such regional variations (as in what they use in the rest of South America, Africa, etc.); 2. What is a "timewarped ref"? At WP:CITESTYLE and WP:CITEVAR, it clearly states that any style may be used, so why change it to citeweb after I spent all that time overhauling the article? (i.e. [I]t is normal practice to defer to the style used by the first major contributor.) Mac Dreamstate (talk) 23:47, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

That explains it—I thought "timewarped" meant a broken ref or something, rather than a numerical error. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 17:27, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Conflict of interest

Hello,

Thank you very much for your notification about my edits to the "Stefan Reif" article.

I'm not clear, however, how my submission is a conflict of interest. Yes, I did write a book on this topic, and I did speak with and exchange several emails with Professor Reif for my book. But since then I've had very little interaction with him at all. I was really just trying to complete the record on his work. Is this a conflict of interest?

Thanks in advance for your response,

Promotional Material

Hello,

You flagged my edits on Stefan Reif as "Promotional Material." In reality, I was just trying to complete the record on the work of this important scholar - I have had very little contact with him since I wrote my book about the Cairo Genizah. Is it possible for you to reconsider your decision?

Thanks in advance

Saw your revert and thanks. The article is the subject of a university course and well-meaning efforts by several students ("grumble, grumble, why'd they trash the infobox? sheesh!"). Their instructor posted a rather lengthy outline on the Talk page. The article's on my watchlist, but after one revert, I decided to grit my teeth and wait until the current term passes to go back and clean up the aftermath of the party. Not that I'm against cleaning up as it goes along, but I've decided for the sake of my own sanity to join Mr. Thoreau for the season. Just sayin', is all. Cheers! Your recent message

Hi, thanks for your message. The edits to the article in question were made in line with edits made to the world passport article which were made by concensus. Consequently, these edits were necessary on the WSA article as well, in order to maintain cohesion between articles. As I'm sure this is just a good will mistake on your behalf, I've reverted your reversion. --Île flottante (talk) 17:35, 17 April 2016 (UTC)

Response to your message

The edit of mine which you reverted was simply trying to restore the page to its original content. It has since 2014 been hijacked by an IP to create a fake biographical article which I have now nominated for deletion at AFD. Ytfc23 (talk) 21:51, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

@Ytfc23: Fair enough, but next time you replace an article with a redirect to a completely unrelated subject, you need some sort of justification in the edit summary. It would also have helped to verify and tag the refs, raise the hoax concerns earlier, maybe with a talk page discussion. Dl2000 (talk) 22:16, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
I realise that, it was a case that I had never seen before of an entirely fictitious page, but yes I should have made it clear in my edit summary the reasons for my edit. Ytfc23 (talk) 22:18, 20 April 2016 (UTC)

Murat Han

The creator of Murat Han did keep on removing the BLP unsourced tag-you might want to give him another warning for that! Wgolf (talk) 23:14, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

@Wgolf: Based on this edit, the tag removal coincided with an attempt to add a ref, although that ref link didn't work properly (i.e. did not go to a page relating to Murat Han or the Bliss film). Given the attempt at referencing, a tag removal warning didn't seem accurate at this point. However, will msg the creator with an unref BLP welcome message for now. Enrique Alfaro

Hello, I did say why I changed the article: "Redirecting to more relevant Enrique Alfaro Ramírez current municipal president of Guadalajara" I also added another page with the overwritten article content's here Enrique Alfaro Rojas and added a disambiguation template on the Enrique Alfaro. Enrique Alfaro Ramírez is much more relevant than Enrique Alfaro Rojas, you can see it here: https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=enrique%20alfaro%20ramirez%2C%20enrique%20alfaro%20rojas

Thanks for checking that everything was alright, but please reverse the change. I think it's justified and according to Wikipedia Policies. --Shishanyu (talk) 03:13, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Reverted your changes, it makes the articles more inaccurate. Also why are you deleting the references? They are valid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shishanyu (talkcontribs) 03:29, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Again, I made separate articles for each person, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez and Enrique Alfaro Rojas the one you are saying should be on Enrique Alfaro. Like I said and proved with just queries in google, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez is more relevant by a wide margin than Rojas. Please stop unfixing this. --Shishanyu (talk) 21:14, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

I'll be moving the page contents to the Rojas article to preserve the history, if that's your concern. But please understand that Ramirez is the most relevant of the two so the redirection should go to Ramirez. --Shishanyu (talk) 21:27, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Willy Fick

Hello Dl2000. I almost made the same mistake (changing the format to DMY because of the template) until I checked the article's edit history, which shows use of MDY format from the start. Here's the edit in which the {{Use dmy dates}} template was added: [3] Note that at this point the article was a tiny stub and there weren't any dates in it at all; therefore the template was improper, as the MOS does not mandate any one style for articles that have no "strong ties to a particular English-speaking country" (quoting MOS:DATETIES). The editor who has helpfully expanded this article can use their preferred format—the article does need more refs though. Ewulp (talk) 06:12, 12 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi Dl2000, please explain how my edit to 2016–17 Azerbaijan Premier League was disruptive? Some updates for: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_International_Documentary_Conference

Established in 1987, the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) is the Asia-Pacific’s largest event for documentary, factual and unscripted screen content. [1]

The Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) was first established in 1987 and began life as a biennial conference. Since then it has moved around different regions of Australia, mostly being held in capital cities. Over the years it has grown from being a small conference with a few international guests, to being a major international annual event. The annual event acts as a conference and marketplace that aims to support both the creative and commercial needs of the industry.

Year Location Theme Director
1987 McLaren Vale Inaugural Conference Daniela Torsh
1991 Canberra Ideas for Australia Marguerite Grey
1993 Sydney Reflecting the Future Daniela Torsh
1995 Melbourne (no theme) Deb Verhoeven

2015 Adelaide Net-Work-Play Joost den Hartog [4]
2016 Melbourne True Stories Britt Arthur [5]

The 2017 conference will take place in ACMI and Federation Square’s Deakin Edge Auditorium from 5 – 8 March, 2017. [6]

The $5,000 Stanley Hawes Award was established in 1997 to honour Stanley Hawes as first Producer-in-Chief of the Australian National Film Board and Commonwealth Film Unit. The award recognises the significant support he gave independent filmmakers in the documentary sector and is thus awarded to a person or organisation that makes an outstanding contribution to the documentary sector in Australia.[2] The award is announced annually at the Australian International Documentary Conference. [7]

I am hoping you can help me update information about the Australian International Documentary Conference. The page hasn't been updated for a long time and a lot of facts are missing. Some of the links are also broken. I understand that it presents as a Conflict of Interest if I update the page, so I'm hoping you can review my proposed changes to see that they represent facts only: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_International_Documentary_Conference Brittarthur (talk) 05:23, 22 June 2016 (UTC) Britt Arthur

The edit u reverted is not good. The page i created is both short and more better pls advice how do i better that page --Varun  04:33, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

@VarunFEB2003: Actually, your recent edit to that page had some serious problems. First, you wiped out 84 citations and replaced these with citations of other Wikipedia articles, something that generally should never be done, as explained in WP:CIRCULAR. The one citation which wasn't to a Wikipedia article didn't seem to be there before, and the source (affairscloud.com) is a user-supplied blog-type repository that does not seem sufficiently reliable (see WP:RS). Also, some of the table layouts were mangled, with some tables overlapping each other which caused a visual problem. There is generally nothing wrong with making an article more concise and improving the layout, but it is generally not a good idea to eliminate relevant verifiable content without good reason. You should probably test major table and layout changes outside the article e.g. in a "sandbox" or user space page. Better yet, you should probably discuss through your intended changes at Talk:Symbols of Indian states and territories before making further attempts. Dl2000 (talk) 17:37, 3 July 2016 (UTC)

BMW R100

Hi! Thank you for assisting with the BMW R100 article. The article was altered from the BMW R100S article... the BMW R100S is but a small subset of the BMW R100 series of motorcycles (several references note the BMW R100RS and BMWR100RT were produced in much higher numbers and were groundbreaking vehicles, while the BMW R100S was derivative of the BMW R90S), which did not have its own article, and was subsequently rewritten.

I'll alter the template to fit the BMW R100 generically, vice the BMW R100S specifically. If you have other specific concerns please let me know. Macboots (talk) 05:59, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Subhan Sahib

Hi, just wanted to give you a heads up that I reverted your changes to the Subhan Sahib page. Just for some history, as it has caused a bit of confusion. The creator of the page had used the Asaf Ali page as a 'template' and then started to modify it. I was one of those who inadvertently and innocently reverted his modifications (with a failure to cite a RS reason), which 'restored' the template close to it's original state. I also tagged it with a CSD, which the administrator Iridescent then knocked back. He also restored the content that I had inadvertently reverted. You then came in and reverted the page back to it's Asaf Ali 'template', thinking that it was vandalism, when it was just a couple of humbled editors trying to make good faith and constructive edits. Quite an understandable mistake. I hope that has somewhat helped. Cheers. David.moreno72 (talk) 04:03, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

@JarrahTree: not sure which "recents" you are referring to, but EngvarB is sometimes useful when there is mixed nationality of a subject, or the national ties are not yet clear e.g. notability in both Australia and UK, or ties to multiple Commonwealth nations. Dl2000 (talk) 00:52, 1 August 2016 (UTC)

Tobruk

The lead singers name in Tobruk was Terry "Smurf" Sullivan. After Tobruk disbanded he joined a hard rock band called Delth Knell (not death). Shortly after he joined, the band changed the name to Tearaway. They also changed the musical style from Hard Rock to Heavy Metal and gigged around the London music scene for about 2 years with little success. The band disbanded in 1986. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rabitim (talkcontribs)

Nina Staehli

Thank you for support of Wikipedia. You marked the article of Nina Staehli with 3 issues https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nina_Staehli The Wiki expert from Germany had a look at it and felt it was ok.

Issue “resume”: Dr. Heinz Stahlhut, Head of the art collection, Museum of Art Lucerne has written a in depth text for each category to solve the issue “resume”. What else could be done to solve the matter?

Issue “sources”: The German wiki expert checked every link and sources and they all work and are reliable. E.g. all short movies on IMDB; and they check every single movie individually http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6442503/. Or the Swiss Institute of Art Research, their criteria to enter the database are very strict and on a high professional level http://www.sikart.ch/kuenstlerInnen.aspx?id=12306179 What else could be done to solve the matter?

Issue “notability”: In the field of art this is always difficult to decide. Nina Staehli is working for over 30 years in the art field and is shown in museums, art galleries, TV and others. Since she often works abroad, a Wikipedia article in English makes a lot of sense.

Thank you very much for a feedback. Mimizane (talk) 17:06, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

@Simiprof: You didn't actually add any references to the article itself, especially the scimagojr.com and vhbonline.org references you mention here. You simply removed maintenance templates without resolving the referencing issues or otherwise giving valid justification. You also made changes without adding new references. Also note inderscience.com is WP:PRIMARY source, and shouldn't be relied upon too much when secondary sources should be included. Dl2000 (talk) 01:43, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

I was in the middle of an edit when you reverted everything back to the Feb. 2016 status. You should have waited for me to finish. Just look at the times. I maintain that you are impatient, and there is nothing Wikipedia can do about it. (Simiprof (talk)) —Preceding undated comment added 02:58, 12 September 2016 (UTC)

Can you please review the current form of Inderscience Publishers and see if the issues have been resolved? Thanks! (Simiprof (talk) 02:00, 23 September 2016 (UTC))

Done But the article still needs more than the current two non-primary refs, so the refimprove tag is still warranted. Dl2000 (talk) 02:07, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

User talk:202.89.170.57 Ammonia article: change of reference

In December 2015, in an article on the band Ammonia, you changed a reference to Potato Stars, a long-running musical act that originated in Perth, Western Australia and which has featured a veritable multiplex full of members over the past 21 years, counting up to 90 as on this morning. A number which may well have increased by this afternoon.

In the notification report of that imposed editorial decision you refer to a laudable Wikipedia policy direction which recommends all articles should strive to present a neutral point of view, then you went on to suggest that my "recent edit to Ammonia (band) seemed less than neutral to me". I must presume your editorial justification is in specific reference to a line in the previous draft of the article which prefaced the band name Potato Stars with the word 'supergroup'. The appellative noun 'supergroup' is a well known and widely recognised designatory term used to describe a musical act made up of members of various other famous bands.[1]

I wish to contest that editorial action and contended, to the cpntrary, that Potato Stars does most certainly conform to even the most narrow interpretation of the word supergroup. Previous Potato Stars members, known collectively as Spuds, have been drawn from such luminary Australian rock acts as Hoodoo Gurus, The Scientists, Ammonia, The Stems, Hedonists, The Rosemary Beads, Beaverloop and frankly too many more to name, while the current bag of Spuds includes Tony Pola, former drummer with Kim Salmon & The Surrealists and who, for the last 25 years, has manned the drum seat for Beasts of Bourbon, two of Australia's most influential Australian bands ever. Other current Spuds include members of cherished national and local West Australian bands such as Beautiful Losers, Jayco Brothers, Misfits and In Orbit.

None of the above may make any mnemonic impression upon those unfamiliar with Australian popular music of the past forty years. Therefore, in keeping with accepted journal publishing practice, and to further seal watertight in your mind the commonly held view that Potato Stars is indeed a supergroup, at least one verifiable third-party referral to Potato Stars as a supergroup can be found in recent annals of X-Press Magazine, Western Australia's pre-eminent street press. An interview published in 2014 under the impeccable byline of that magazine's Editor-in-Chief, Bob Gordon, is sub-headed "Perth supergroup Potato Stars are back to launch their Feedback Stoner Concerto EP at Ya Ya’s this Thursday, June 26, with support from D’ix and Like Junk. BOB GORDON checks in with frontman, Brian Dunne."[2]

QED, buddy, Potato Stars are a supergroup because rock magazines, newspapers and radio stations say we are, so everyone simply assumes it is true. Not you though, DI2000, no. And while it is a fact that within the band ranks we only ever refer to ourselves as a stuporgroup, it's kinda nice to be called super. Now, I suppose I could change it back myself easily enough but it really would give me a superwarm superfuzzy superfeeling if you'd do it on our superbehalf.

Superthanx, Prozac Boy aka plastic b aka Falcon Randwick or even Brian if you insist...

[1] Definition of supergroup

a rock group made up of prominent former members of other rock groups; also : an extremely successful rock group

Methinks the WP:COIs doth protest too much. There is still no superarticle on Potato Stars. There are especially no superreferences to support Hensworth's role in that band during 2001, and in fact superunreferenced material can be superdeleted according to Wikipedia superpolicy. At least the PSs are being called a band while that statement is awaiting citations. Dl2000 (talk) 19:24, 25 September 2016 (UTC)

About my changes on the Paul Gray page

Hi,

i understand that i forgot to say what I had changed on Paul Gray (English musician) page; but I added sources from well-known online journals, so why delete them?

Hello,

Thanks for your comment. Yet, I do not understand why you deleted all my input about Paul Gray (English musician). You ask me to read some long help pages from Wikipedia, without saying what was wrong with what I did. There was an interview and an article, from reliable sources. So please here is the problem, so I can fix it? or is there something that you misunderstood?

Best,

More about Paul Gray

The interview that I quoted was published on Daily Mail online, which is a reliable source. So I'm surprised that you qualified this as unreliable: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2987344/My-tinnitus-bad-click-light-switch-agony.html

@Mk is watoo: First time you've mentioned this Times citation. It was never added to the article itself, so it was never qualified as unreliable. This is the only edit you made to the Paul Gray article. No new references were added, content was removed. Would suggest you spend some time reviewing actual edits versus claimed actions. John Lyon (poet) page changes

I noticed that you changed the date style on the John Lyon page, which is not my preferred style of date notation and according to Wikipedia both are appropriate. I would like to revert the edit regarding dates to fit my writing style because I have made massive improvements to the John Lyon page and have my own writing preferences. You also said that there needed to be more citations. Where did you think that more citations were necessary so that I can make the needed adjustments. engvar cats

gday from sunny oz - interested in your ideas on talk page project tagging engvar cats (yup it is clear to see the blue box saying not content related - maintenance - but innerested in the actual status of red talk page status of such items - imho they needs to be id'd but that is a very long rave which will save you from at this stage... oops see below), or not or with which tag. no big deal any which way, just innerested

it is related to an idea of creating a specific wikiproject maintenance - that is able to 'capture' red talk page items that are not content related - to remove any stray project tags, and have a very specific project aimed at standardising and identification of the blue box not content world so that there is a sense of being able to maintain 'maintenance' category space with something like a project tag... I know some high edit eds we have here in wp en are averse to looking at talk pages for whatever their particular phobia might govern... but there is a potential argument to have red space blued out for reasons of 'completeness' and imho I am not interested in doing it manually, I am sure there is a bot intelligent enough to do so JarrahTree 01:58, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

@JarrahTree: So for example, the project would promote the application of {{Australian English}} to Australian articles? Also note that Engvar cats are often lacking in populated ("blue") talk pages e.g. Talk:Rove McManus. Or could this be something that is assisted by WP:BOT? e.g. the bot could detect an Engvar cat on an article, and populate the talk page accordingly, although it may wait for a stable talk e.g. a few weeks in place. An automated or semi-automated approach may be more reliable than setting up a project. Not sure how consistently active I might be on such a project although it has merit. @Ohconfucius has some experience in Engvar maintenance and may have further insight on the project concept. Dl2000 (talk) 02:25, 25 November 2016 (UTC)
V. Sorry - I do confuse people very very easily here on talk pages, my apologies. your comments are very interesting and expand the original intention of this msg. The potential for bots to do things I think should be explored carefully.

To try to clarify 3 things from me (1) whether engvar pages should relate back to the project of their country project with project tags (or not) - NZ to NZ and OZ to OZ. (2) if maintenance pages such as engvar cats by month are not linked to the country project - where to or how? (3) whether a project or automatic process might capture maintenance categories into a viable collection of some sort - if that has any merit.. I believe so, but as I have said very many main space category creators seem to have aversion to talk page space..JarrahTree 02:47, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

It is one of my pet peeves that people 'correct' a word that was correct to begin with. Having a bad case of "dispondia", where I can never be sure a word shouldn't have two ells in it, or whether it's -ise or -ize, I get irate about people who are so sure they change one to another *because*! Anyway, do you perhaps know whether there will ever be a ClueBoffin bot that will notice idle chat-chit changes from one variant to the now-identified-wrong variant? Then I can go back to simple dictionary ignorance. Shenme (talk) 04:42, 3 December 2016 (UTC)
I would hazard a guess that due to well intentioned but incorrect spelling changes, and category modificatios and other things there easily 100k items on wp en that need fixing, if there ever was a bot.... JarrahTree 01:07, 4 December 2016 (UTC)

format=dmy

Hi, re this edit: it's not necessary to add |format=dmy to {{dts}} templates which don't specify a day of the month, as the output isn't altered. Consider these:

  • {{dts|1907|12}}December 1907
  • {{dts|format=dmy|1907|12}}December 1907

both of which also emit the hidden markup

<span class="sortkey" style="display:none;speak:none">000000001907-12-01-0000</span>

So the |format=dmy is redundant. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:13, 28 November 2016 (UTC)

Apologies for any violations of Wikipedia policy and thank you for your patience as I am new to editing.

I would like you to note Chris Philp's page makes no reference to his failed businesses Clearstone Training and Recruitment Limited, Clearstone West Herts Training Limited and Rollright Training Limited that went into administration owing over 4 million to customers, businesses and HMRC. This clearly is an important subject as he describes himself as a 'serial entrepreneur'

Please see https://www.companieslondon.com/uk/04796036/clearstone-training-and-recruiting-limited https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/04396572/officers https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/05764379/officers

Chris Philp is also on the Treasury Select Committee so I feel it is appropriate to refer to his companies Moreof Silverstone and Pluto Finance as being registered offshore in Jersey.

Merry Christmas! Just wondering why you tagged subject article for British English? As the creator of the article, I did not intend to limit myself (or other editors) to British English, since these tags may interfere with use of more descriptive vocabulary from other dialects. I was born in New England, as were five of my great-grandparents. The other three were from New York, Prince Edward Island, and Liverpool, England; so perhaps I have a somewhat wider appreciation for the value of diversity. Thewellman (talk) 03:02, 24 December 2016 (UTC)

@Thewellman: HMS Orchis (K76) was a Royal Navy ship and apparently not under any other ownership, thus it seemed to be exclusively a UK topic, so that was the rationale. Note that the tagging should not affect direct quotations from sources as spellings of these should not be refactored, if that was your concern about the descriptive vocabulary (see MOS:PMC). The tag can be removed if you still have a concern, however. Dl2000 (talk) 03:26, 24 December 2016 (UTC)
Orchis was from that brief era when the Allied nations put their differences aside to work toward a shared goal. Few of the Canadian, American, Soviet, Norwegian, Greek, Dutch, Belgian, and Polish seamen who sailed in convoys protected by Orchis will ever read this article; but I hope their children and grandchildren may find a useful description of the little ship their ancestor may have watched as he looked out over the ominously cold and gray North Atlantic to see who stood between his ship and the waiting submarine wolf-packs. Chris Philp article

Hello and thank you for your message.

I have looked at my changes and am unsure as to which Wiki guidelines I have broken.

I have added content to page that is factual, relevant and correctly sourced.

For example:-

Chris Philp describes himself as an entrepreneur, and lists his business successes, yet exclude those that went into administration. This is disingenuous as he has had business failures which left millions of pounds of outstanding debts.

His involvement with The Next Big Thing is mentioned in 'business' section - I have merely updated this item to advise the charity has now ceased trading - December 2016.

He is a politician, and is on the treasury select committee involved in tax regulation so I think having ongoing businesses in Jersey is relevant and also I believe.

He has written extensively about the NHS and its inefficiencies, therefore I believe his wife's private healthcare interests are also relevant.

I have tagged reliable sources to my added content.

Please note I do not seek to vandalise, abuse or cause offence, I merely would just like an objective Wiki page for this MP.

I welcome your comments.

ENGVAR claims

How are you deciding which English variety to tag articles with? And why not just leave them? Like on List of narrow gauge railways in Ireland, originally written by a Scot who lives in England, how do you judge an English variety there? And what is Irish English like anyway? Can you describe what to look for? Dicklyon (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Per template documentation, and topic / variant / ties seemed reasonably obvious. But maybe sort out your issues at ANI before attempting to sort someone else out? But in any case, will invite an external opinion about that article from @Ohconfucius:. Dl2000 (talk) 02:32, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping. As far as my scripts are concerned, I would use them on Irish articles the same as I would use it on British, Australian or Kenyan articles, tagging them with {{EngvarB}}, as these countries fundamentally employ the same English variants in terms of spelling (compared to American and Canadian spellings). While I do not usually take the step than tagging "EngvarB" (nor do I actually favour any further descent into crass nationalism by categorising articles any further), it doesn't shock me to see the Irish English tag on that article. -- Ohc ¡digame! 22:26, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

Eightball Records

Hello there. I noticed that you moved Eightball Records to Eightball Records (US) and summed up the edit as "NEW - fix hijack of Australian Eightball Records; dab in progress". However I don't recall any records or webpages of Australian record label called "Eightball Records", so I fail to see the point in creating two new pages to separate the 'US' record label and the alleged 'Australian' label. Furthermore, the [now] Eightball Records (Australia) has no references or sources to support its page. I will be nominated this for deletion and so reverting unless the page progresses. A tag has been placed on Eightball Records (Australia) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, a group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content, or an organized event, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Padriac Colum

You had noted a source on Padraic Colum was a blog. However, that was a reprint of his lengthy introduction to Poems of the Irish Revolutionary Brotherhood (1916). I found the same piece as a google book (though not nearly as easy on the eyes to read) and noted it on the Talk Page, and also noted that this was a primary source and the information should come from a secondary source. I am new to all this, so I am hoping I did all this correctly. HedgeHogPower (talk) 23:15, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Time in China, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page That's. Hello - can you please explain why the edits made to Kate Champion wiki were removed? they were neither inflammatory nor promotional. Conflict of interest?

Hi, I edited the wiki page about myself (not having seen guidelines which advise against). Some of the info about the ART referred to only I can add as I am the only paid employee. Hi,

You reverted my edit of the Total Star page. I don't understand why, the station has re-launched www.totalstarmed.com

There is also a DAB license in place for Somerset and the station will be launching on that platform shortly.

Would you be kind enough to update it.

European Science Foundation Page

Hi. I'm the external authorised PR contact for ESF Science Connect (European Science Foundation). I think that you recently sent a warning and reverted edits (made) back to the original text at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Science_Foundation. Unfortunately this page is in an extreme failed state with entirely obsolete information that is inaccurate and misleading. All we were trying to do was to update it to the real life position and then hopefully the wikipedia community would take it from there. What are we to do when a page is not maintained by the community and falls into total and comprehensive disrepair? It's simply crazy that a page could be left sit there and that the organisation it refers to cannot alter it in good faith (appreciating of course that it must not be promotional). What would you recommend? Thanks very much for any guidance. The Archway (talk) 16:26, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Sunil Gupta (Accountant)

Hey

I see you linked Dr Sunil Gupta with Sunil Gupta (Accountant). I think you did this because we dont want prefix like Dr and all. However, saying that he is accountant is not appropriate. Can we please change it to Sunil Gupta (Chartered Accountant). As you might know, there is a big difference between an accountant and a chartered accountant. This is the link.

DF/MF parameter

Hi! I noticed you've edited a couple of pages recently (e.g. David Kewley) and added "df=yes" to their birth year and age/death year and age templates. I've found these edits because I've been monitoring Category:Pages using death year and age template with unknown parameters and Category:Pages using birth year and age template with unknown parameters. Any time the DF/MF parameter is used in the birth/death-year-and-age templates, it shows up in those categories as an error because they don't support it, unlike the birth/death date templates.

It doesn't cause a problem in the article, but I thought I'd let you know anyway so you can adjust - that way I won't be coming along amending edits you've already made. Cheers, Marianna251TALK 18:21, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

You seem to be working your way through articles I have written or substantially edited. You mark them British English (why?) its superfluous but if it pleases you that's nice. You change the form of dates (taken from London's The Times in its classical period) currently used by the same publication still one of England's leading newspapers - why do this? Your habit seems so oddly doctrinaire to me.

You change the format of citations or references from one I have used that is easy to understand and fix when editing to one that creates serious clutter and one that also makes the reference impossible to understand while editing - Why? You make the simple complex to no useful result. Please don't do that.

Is it possible your personal preferences are not shared by other people? Please think about that for even a moment. As you seem to be going through my work I would be pleased if you would look elsewhere to carry out your ministrations. Eddaido (talk) 05:52, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

I recently edited Michelle Gomez's page and you said you thought it was a test. Just wanted to let you know that I was simply fixing the date. The problem was that the birthdate was already entered in the proper places in the article, and you made an edit in the wrong location for that. The age in the infobox is calculated automatically, although that may take a few hours to update for a new birthday due to such factors as time zones and internet "caching". Sorry, I apologize about "USS Augusta"...

I was just to wipe off one sign, and I did'nt verify with sufficient attention the blasting result of the very small correction I was bringing to this excellent article on this glorious ship. It's just the name of the "Valin-co" gulf in Corsica, written with a mistake, to correct into "Valinco". It's easy and nearly nothing to correct, and of course, I should have been more careful about final result. Thanks to you to put all of it right back. By the way, during Operation Torch, a shell shot at the Jean Bart, missed her by a few yards, did not blast striking the pier just behind, and sprang, finishing his way in a house on the waterfront a few hundreds yards away, just breaking a balcony and the living room, but not exploding... and my question is : do you or anybody knows if it was a shell from USS Augusta (209mm) or from USS Massachussets (410mm)? so as I can tell it to... the survivors, yes! Mogadorien (talk) 00:08, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for your kind reply, after the unexpected work you had to bring back the last built! About the kind of shell and its side effect, I hope to find a trusty source. As 786 of 800 of the 16 inches shells from the USS Massachussets were shot, with the location of the target, it may likely be one of these.

Economy of the Isle of Man - edits removed

Hi Dl2000,

Maybe I was too ambitious ;-( but the changes I made were thought as a serious contribution to update the referred site, not meant as a test.

Understandably the site 'Economy of the Isle of Man' is quite outdated on basic economic figures, the fundamentally changed structure since the last economic crisis, and it lacks the strategic directions of the Island's government. With a fairly balanced from the various perspectives I would like to help updating this over time. Hence I started with basic economic data and references from the World Bank, the National Income Report, the most recent Census from 2016 (issued in 2017), the National Economic Strategy etc.

If you would kindly help me with a more detailed feedback and reactivate/curate my edits, that would be great! Happy to contribute to updating this side further as much more should be added with the necessary impartiality, like for instance Paradise Papers or OECD assessments.

Thx for your consideration and best regards! Beachlander (talk) 20:34, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

In my opinion Beachlander was not overambitious. I don't agree 100% with all his/her edits and have amended some of his/her edits on the Isle of Man page, but on the whole the edits are constructive and do not merit blanket reversion. ----Ehrenkater (talk) 15:28, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

@Beachlander:, @Ehrenkater: - fair enough, although the major lede changes did seem a bit odd; for now, one item was rewritten based on source, and the lede flagged for length. Otherwise, no major surgery or reverts on the article for now. Dl2000 (talk) 23:53, 4 December 2017 (UTC)

Edit warring on Mariam-uz-Zamani

I have already left a message on Ananya 2012's page on 8 December 2017 (which you can see for yourself on the user's talk page) regarding the fact that the user is intentionally and persistently engaging in vandalism and edit warring on the pages Ruqaiya Sultan Begum and Mariam-uz-Zamani, despite my repeated requests to stop doing so. Ananya 2012 is repeatedly reverting these pages to versions which are years old and are poorly sourced and written and filled with wrong information, gibberish and fan bias. I have gone through both the page versions in both the cases and the old ones which the user keeps reverting back to are filled with vandalism. The user is also removing perfectly sourced content in the process without any explanation. These are not constructive edits and the user is just doing it because they seem to like those particular page versions as you can see from the edit history of both the pages that the user does not give any reason or explanation for reverting these pages which indicates bias. The user has not replied to any of my messages and refuses to have a discussion on this topic as you can see from their talk page. In such a case I have no choice but to revert the user's malicious edits. Ananya 2012 needs to be blocked from editing any further because it is clear that the user's edits are not an improvement and they are repeatedly engaging in vandalism, edit warring, and fan bias - Almeda64, 5:18, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

User Ananya 2012 still refuses to have a discussion on the talk pages of the articles Ruqaiya Sultan Begum and Mariam-uz-Zamani. The user is still engaging in edit warring despite my repeated requests and warnings to stop doing so as you can see from the edit history of both the pages and the user's talk page. The user is intentionally and persistently violating rules and regulations and is also repeatedly vandalizing these articles and needs to be blocked - Almeda64 (talk), 17:20, 13 December 2017 (UTC)

Format of dates

Hello, Dl2000! Could you explain me this your edit, please? I'm the author of all links and substantial part of that article, so I wonder why is such problem to use British style of dates (i.e. MDY) – especially, when it's officially approved as one of the possible styles (MOS:DATEFORMAT). I know, in this case there aren't any "strong national ties to a topic" (because mentioned article is about place in non-English speaking Central Europe), yet, the use of MDY style obviously isn't wrong. Why did you corrected it? Thanks in advance for your reply! Regards, --Iaroslavvs (talk) 09:03, 4 January 2018 (UTC)

Skvorec Chateau, help needed, please

Dear DI2000 Thank you for your data correction on article skvorec chateu to European format.

I also concerned about wrong translation of zamek to "Chateau". Editor iaroslavvs eagerly change castle to chateau with no reason. All available dictionaries translate zamek from czech to castle in english.

Zamek, Hrad, Castle or Chateau: In English a 'zamek' can mean 'Castle' or 'Country House'. A 'Country House' is a mansion or palace in the countryside, with a park. In each case they are lived-in places - homes. All 'hrady' are castles, ie fortified residences, usually dating from the Middle Ages - although there are quite a few fakes made in the 1820s-40s, when the Romantic Movement was at its height, via the novels of Sir Walter Scott. 'Chateau' is a French word usually covering Country Houses or zamky. The French word for castle - ie a fortified medieval stronghold - is 'Chateau Fort'. However, Chateau is now being used incorrectly. Skvorec isn't a chateau - better to use the word castle. 'Chaetau Skvorec is totally wrong. Smaller castles or country houses are Manor Houses (French: manoire) - but Skvorec, in its high days, wasn't small.... so it is a real castle or hrad.

Thank you in advance,

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello Dl2000. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. — xaosflux Talk 04:15, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Nice to see you becoming a reviewer. I didnt know you were not one, or I would have asked you to. See you around. :) —usernamekiran(talk) 19:00, 6 January 2018 (UTC)

Dina Nayeri's page

Hey I've been building DN's wikipedia page for a few days now. I originally had British spelling too, but since she is an American citizen and her book uses American spelling, I decided to use American spelling and date format. I reversed some of your corrections, but not all of them (the dates). I will do so later. If you have a good reason to go back to British spelling let me know. She does live in London, but she grew up in Iran and the States. I have no idea why she is in London now but my guess is that she doesn't feel at home in any particular place. (She also uses American spelling in her own Fb account, Twitter, and website.) Thanks for helping!

@Dl2000: I have noticed that you recently moved Sanjay Mitra to Sanjay Mitra (politician). However, that’s wrong, Mitra is an IAS officer (civil servant), and not a politician. Will you please rectify your mistake?

PS: How’s being a nation’s Defence Secretary not more notable, than say, being an actor? I’m not that well versed with all this stuff.

Minto Group Potential Deletion

Hi DI2000, I see that you added my new page Minto Group to Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada (Thanks for that, by the way). It has now been tagged for speedy deletion. You may wish to comment. - Mparrault (talk) 02:25, 13 January 2018 (UTC)

Raileanu

He has a reference that was loaned from Astra to Sportul Snagov and 2 external links that shows he actually played for the teams showed in the infobox? What do you want more than that? He is a young player, not Messi to have a lot of references...and for football players 1 match played in a professional league is enough to have a page, most of them have only external links, without any references and their pages are more than ok. edit removed

Hi, you recently removed an edit which you deemed "may have been written from a fan's perspective" although it was a point of fact. The Red Dirt Skinners were recently invited by Canadian Immigration to become permanent residents on the strength of their performances to date in Canada. This isn't a fans viewpoint, it's a fact. Can you please advise? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluesmusicfan (talkcontribs)

@Bluesmusicfan: The article seems to have had a general history of fan POV; the particular claim about permanent Canadian residence (see [4]) was accompanied by a reference to general Canadian immigration policy; it was not supported by a specific reference that the band had that status, and Canadian immigration status doesn't exactly constitute a music review. However, the lack of specific supporting reference was an issue here. Dl2000 (talk) 05:11, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I've now edited to remove it until we can cite further proof from the band/Canadian Immigration. Could it be in the form of a news article for example?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluesmusicfan (talkcontribs)

Yes, provided the newspaper or other source is considered reliable. Dl2000 (talk) 16:05, 27 January 2018 (UTC)

  • Reverting well established editors with "repair improper tests/wreckage" is not a valid reason to revert - You object to date format changes and as such you should state this in the edit summary - Putting "repair improper tests/wreckage" gives the obvious impression the previous editor did improper tests or wrecked the page when this is not true,
Further false/misleading edit summaries will end up with you being here, Thank you. –Davey2010Talk 20:08, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
