Hello DI2000. I started this project. Your addition is well appreciated as the page looks better. Cheers. MusiCitizen 13:56, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

The above vandalism accusation was indeed received in error. The page in question was October 8 in baseball, but the history shows that it was an anonymous user User_talk:203.131.119.43 who squidded up that page a few hours ago. The earlier edit was indeed from me, but over two weeks ago and was non-vandalistic. MusiCitizen created that page and approved of that change as per the above comment. This award is given to Dl2000 for the fastest edit I've seen in a year to supply solid references to an article. My highest regards to you - may the Wiki bring you all the best there is to offer! --HappyCamper 00:02, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Good and thorough job on the Forsythe dab page. I added a link back to Forsyth. Oliphaunt 00:05, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

For what it's worth, John McGale was already mentioned earlier in the article, so I'm not really sure why it was necessary to restate his full name in the post-breakup section if you weren't also going to restate Breen Leboeuf's and Pierre Harel's and Michel Lamothe's and Pat Martel's full names. Hi...Category:Canadian fiction writers isn't actually meant to contain individual writers; it's supposed to be a parent category for more specific subcategories such as Category:Canadian novelists, Category:Canadian short story writers, Category:Canadian science fiction writers, etc. When writing up articles on Canadian writers, could you please use one or more of those subcategories (as appropriate) instead of filing someone directly in Category:Canadian fiction writers? Thanks. Bearcat 06:14, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

Quebec Autoroute 70

I know that Autoroutes 19 and Autoroute 31 are shorter than Autoroute 70...however, the link says that many in the area think of it (unofficially) as the "World's Shortest Autoroute". I know there are several unsigned autoroutes that are a mere fraction of THIS road's length, as well. http://webfil_92.tripod.com/autoroutes_en/id16.html is the source link. :) RaccoonFoxTalkStalk 02:32, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your help so far. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge of wikipedia so cheerfully. I looked into my source that you need a password for, and the reason I didn't realize that was because I automatically get logged in with my university IP address. So I guess I can't use that online source. However, it is an excerpt from a book, and it has the page numbers and stuff. So are wikipedia users allowed to cite hard copy books? If not, I'm sure I'll be able to confirm the information elsewhere; it'll just take a little more time :)

Mnpeter 04:06, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you again for helping me! I've got it fully sourced with that print article now.

Sources tag at Heroes Chronicles.

Hmm. How to say this. I don't agree with adding the references tag to that page for one simple reason: it's a stub. Most stubs don't have sources on Wikipedia and it was just made it today. I'm not saying that the sources tag is always incorrect to add to a stub- if an article makes seemingly fishy claims, go ahead- but I think this was a fairly inoffensive article.

For an example of an article that merits the references tag, see something like Gluten-free, casein-free diet. That article makes several strong claims that, while possibly true, are totally unreferenced aside from somewhat unreliable External links, so it's reasonable to warn the readers that there aren't any sources and adding some would be appreciated. SnowFire 19:54, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. That does work better while still emphasizing the need for sources. SnowFire 21:01, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Gilmore Girls episodes

Regarding the "tags" on the articles such as Merry Fisticuffs (Gilmore Girls)... each article should have an introductory paragraph that explains this is about an episode of the Gilmore Girls show. Some added detail such as season, date of broadcast, etc. can be helpful coordinates to establish context. For an example of how an episode page can be formatted, see The Dad Who Knew Too Little from The Simpsons. Hope that info helps with the formatting issues. Dl2000 04:19, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

So why tell me? I can't fix them. All I did was confirm the context. I did that because of the context tags. -Will Pittenger 04:23, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

Sources

Or "unreferenced" tag takes "date=December 2006" - confusing isn't it? But if you leave the date bit out altogether, a WP:BOT will come along and put it in for you. Regards, Rich Farmbrough, 10:30 6 December 2006 (GMT).

Re: talk pages

Regarding this heinous comment: You ought to read WP:TALK, specifically: "Don't edit others' comments: Refrain from editing others' comments without their permission (with the exception of prohibited material such as libel and personal details). It is not necessary to bring talk pages to publishing standards, so there is no need to correct typing errors, grammar, etc. It tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Never edit someone's words to change their meaning." - the operative word there is "comments", perfectly legitimate for me to remove a "vote", considering we do not operate under votes at Wikipedia (WP:CONSENSUS). Pertinent to this now I'd welcome you to remove this warning you have left me, and furthermore read m:Voting is evil, finally to conclude I'd remind you that something unsigned is not a comment. thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 17:24, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Matthew, I suggest that you read these articles a bit more your self. WP:CONSENSUS contains the quote - "Formal decision making based on vote counting is not how wikipedia works (see Wikipedia is not a majoritarian democracy) and simple vote-counting should never be the key part of the interpretation of a debate. When polling is used, it should be seen as a process of 'testing' for consensus, rather than reaching consensus". Nothing in that vote went against any wiki guidelines and yet you went against guidelines by removing anothers post in the talk pages. You are infact trying to hide behind m:Voting is evil which has never been adopted as wiki policy or guideline. I also find it ironic that you are requesting someone to remove a warning when you believe you can accuse me of making a malicious edit and then refuse to retract or apologise. I would suggest you put your own house in order first. And I belive the warning should remain. Munta 20:29, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Australian Championships confusing?

Do you have any suggestions on what to do about this? The tournament was called "The Australian Championships" back in those days, and the Australian Championships link goes to an article about the tennis tournament. I think it's no more confusing than, say, 1989 Australian Open. --dantheox 20:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

No of course not you. Thanks for your edits - I was getting there (see edit summaries) but it is nice to know that a friendly Canadian is watching over us. Could you please explain why you feel that the Marble works article deserves to be deleted instead of allowed some time to grow. Please allow time to complete an article

It is very discouraging to have someone put tags (like "sources") in an article while it is created. You recently put that tag in an article nine minutes after it was first saved. Please understand that it is necessary to save text before it is finished for safety reasons.Dr Fredrik Haeffner 02:26, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Note about prodding

If you could, please remember to notify an article's author when you place a {{prod}} on a page (specifically, Anticipation (finance) in this case). This way we're plenty fair in case someone really does plan on improving an article. Thanks. EVula // talk // // 20:25, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:MathNEWS.jpeg)

Thanks for uploading Image:MathNEWS.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

Wrong Guy

Hi. You recently left a message on my user talk page about "deleting or editing legitimate comments" on the Global Television Network talk page. (I suppose that is an automated message) However, the person who vandalized the page was 71.102.64.79. I think you reverted back one page too many, because the only change I made was to correct my own misspelling of the word "Confustion", and the spelling error has returned. I suppose none of that really matters, but I just thought I'd let you know. --70.81.251.32 05:04, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Deletion debate on ZIP codes

An {{afd}} tag has been placed on List of 56 ZIP codes and many other pages, requesting that they be deleted from Wikipedia. All Wikipedians can join the debate at Articles for deletion, where articles asserted to be inappropriate to Wikipedia are discussed. You are encouraged to submit your opinion, and remember that Articles for Deletion debates are not a vote. Please do not remove the deletion tag yourself, but don't feel inhibited from editing the article, particularly if doing so makes it clear that it is a useful contribution to an encyclopaedia. Just wanted to let you know why I removed that Manitoba category. Although she was born in Churchill it's not really correct to say that she is from there. Because of the smallness of the Arctic communities most people are not born in their home community. Depending on the area of Nunavut you live in will dictate where you go to give birth. So people in the area where I live go to Yellowknife and people in her area went to Churchill and people in the east went to Montreal. So unless she was a sickly child she would have been in Churchill for no more than a week or two after birth. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:43, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Alan Frew birth year

Hi, his birth year is really no big deal to me. I know there has been much written out there indicating his birth year is 1959, I've even seen 1958. However, I changed the year from 1959 to 1956 because I know for a fact that is the year he was born. I have four reliable sources: his 35th birthday card given to him in 1991 by the other members of Glass Tiger (it even mentions his 35th year in it), a letter written to him in 1991 mentioning that he is 35 (in a quote that he said), an article written about him by Seneca College, the school he attended and graduated from in 1982 (nursing), the article was written in October 2005 and indicates he was 48 at that time(which of course he would be as his birthday isn't until November, when he would be 49) and lastly, on a personal note, a woman I am very good friends with shall we say, had an "intimate encounter" with him where he revealed to her his real age--she is exactly one month younger than him and surprisingly shares the same birthday as his first wife.

I can send you copies of the card, letter and Seneca article if you like. As for my friend, you'd have to talk to her yourself. I'm not sure if I can put a copy of the card, letter and article on here? Thanks.06:25, 11 May 2007 (UTC) Toesarefalling 06:17, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Toesarefalling

Thanks again, though I noticed you changed Baltimore-Washington Parkway out of the federal category. Might I ask as to your reasoning? This is maintained by the National Park Service. Cheers! --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 18:08, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Regarding Baltimore-Washington Parkway, the category was changed from Category:United States parkways to Category:American parkways because the category wordings were equivalent, and it was assumed there were duplicate categories to be consolidated. It wasn't clear from the category names that a distinction was intended for U.S. federal parkways. However, for the federal parkways, the category should be returned with naming such as Category:American federal parkways under Category:American parkways to make the federal/non-federal distinction clearer. Dl2000 18:25, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Gotcha. I'll see about renaming the federal category as Category:United States federal parkways. --Bossi (talkgallerycontrib) 18:46, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi - several stub templates and categories which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub.
