I like the design, in general, but a link for emailing you rather than to your user talk page? That I don't find helpful at all. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 15:55, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Must be a little confusing in a way I hadn't anticipated. Only the @ links to Special:Emailuser; the rest of that word links to this page. Is there a change you'd recommend? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 17:04, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My mistake; missed the links to the talk page. Still, I wonder how useful the link for sending mail to you really is - I've been editing here for a couple of years, and have gotten perhaps a half-dozen emails during that time. (Then again, I don't have an email link embedded in my signature.) -- John Broughton (♫♫) 14:22, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I keep hoping that if I advertise my emailconfirmed-ness, it will make other users more aware that they can email me if there's something they want to talk about that's not appropriate for my talk page. So far I haven't gotten much. *Sigh* But I like the @ sign, so I leave it. I figure if I were to take out the email link, I'd have to slightly redesign the rest of the sig, too, so people don't get confused as to why it used to be there but isn't. I was wondering in the integral of the dL you replace V with a to a' where does that stand for?

is dat the starting point from the axes? till the tip of the rotor?

i was wondering if that could be explained some more.

Has you G-Mail address changed? I have emailed you several times through G-Mail and school mail but got no answer.

It's the same as it was when it was posted to the Java Scripting discussion board. I haven't gotten anything from another student at Gmail or at the school address for a long time. If you're trying to send from your school account, don't bother; it doesn't work. You can only CC, BCC, or forward to an outside address; starting a new conversation directly with an external domain fails silently (so you think your message went through). Try using a personal email account. If you don't have one, this page will work, I guess. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 15:51, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you choose the name Tuvok? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.71.42.231 (talk) 16:54, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Because this user likes Star Trek: Voyager. :) I've got a bunch of stuff on my userpage; check out the userbox section if you're curious. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:13, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Found help, eh? Or just muddled through? Whichever it is, the bar looks interesting. I'll download it and put its page on my watchlist, so I can keep up with updates. I'll be back with feedback in a few days, probably; that'll be after the quarter ends. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:18, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I got sick of waiting for help and muddled through myself. Looking forward to hearing your feedback :) Equazcion /C 19:29, 24 Jan 2008 (UTC)
Looking forward to testing it, too, once I can get to restart Firefox. Right now I'm running a lot of stuff, so I can't close it, and my mom's hanging around making sure I don't get too off-track with my homework (the quarter ends tomorrow, as you can tell from my page header). So I'm not really in testing position. I should be on Saturday or Sunday, though. And I can't wait to be done with this research paper... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 20:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you sure about the DB? The other article on an episode was allowed and they are similar in format, (unless you are about to tag that one too) perhaps it should be AFD'd instead? SGGH speak! 11:02, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest, I'm almost never completely sure about speedy deletions. I trust that admins clearing the backlogs take all the proper considerations into account when they evaluate whether or not to delete the page. I noticed the article on "Spin Fun Knowin' Ya", but that episode has a little more claim to notability as it is the first episode of the series. It also has a lot more context than "House Warming". If you disagree with a speedy deletion tag, especially mine, I'm unaware of any policies that prevent any other user from removing it (besides the page's creator, of course). :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:08, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yipe, didn't see that you are an admin. :D Now I'm embarrassed. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Gave the article some further consideration, and decided to try to make it more relevant instead of requesting a speedy. Thanks for making me stop to think! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:15, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, even admins are unsure sometimes! On a side note, shouldn't both pages be moved so they don'd have the " " in them, for example My First Day from Scrubs SGGH speak! 11:19, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And incidentally, Star Trek is great viewing, and Voyager is good. SGGH speak! 11:20, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking about doing that (the move), actually. I probably will move them. Glad to find another 'Pedian who likes Trek, too. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:22, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why 5761? Collar number? SGGH speak! 11:36, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And incidentally, I deleted the redirect as it is "a result of an implausible typo". Many other redirects with "" have been deleted under this, I have adjusted the heading title above for your convinience. SGGH speak! 11:41, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
5761 is the year 2001 in the Jewish calendar, which must have some significance to this user, I think. Equazcion /C 11:43, 27 Jan 2008 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I should put that bit of trivia on my userpage, I think. So many people ask...
Anyway, the first time I ever signed up for an account anywhere, really, was on Neopets in 2002. Since "voyagerfan" was taken (I was already a Voyager fan at the age of 11), I appended the current Hebrew year at that time to the username I wanted, and it was available. Since registering for Neopets, I've registered at dozens of other sites, all with the same username. A Google search for my username brings up only results related to me, which is great for vanity searching. :P
So in short, it was just a way of getting a username that worked. I hardly touch Neopets any more, but the username has stuck. That answer your question? :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: (post-EC) Very observant, Equazcion! :)

Interesting, and the google search thing really works! I searched SGGH, and the only thing that comes up to do with me is the wikipedia account, the other SGGH usernames aren't me. Perhaps vindictive ex-girlfriend is impersonating me, eek... SGGH speak! 15:56, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I guess an acronym-like username would be a little more likely to be duplicated. Glad I picked something unique. :) Oh, and thanks for the editor review comment; traffic on that page has been a little slow, despite the link in my signature... Advertising angle of Accutone

Dear Voyagerfan5761,

Hi, thank you for your comment, I think that I may have included too much details about their product, hence I've deleted the section on "Innovations" completely. My intent is to introduce this alternative cost-effective solutions for office telephone headsets other than the other traditional brands. I've added the section on Ergonomics previously to educate the usage of headset. Do you think it's much more neutral now. BTW, thanks for the grammatical changes too!

Feel free to discuss.

Thanks. Saintpako (talk) 03:22, 30 January 2008 (UTC)pako[reply]

Thanks for you comment, I understand what you mean, but am having difficulty changing it, do you see any particular points I can rework on? Thanks.
Saintpako (talk) 06:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Pako[reply]
Hi there,
I've rewrote a most of the article to a more neutral tone, and in fact followed the style of other company articles like Altec Lansing and Jabra (In fact I think the Jabra article is poorly written too...heehee). Anyways, what do you think, is it better?
Saintpako (talk) 06:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)pako[reply]
I made some more grammar fixes and removed the Product basket section. It just wasn't relevant enough, IMHO. It looked more like SEO so Accutone's Wikipedia article would show up in searches for those items. But yes, I do think it's better now, much! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 08:04, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archive Bot

Hi there. I'm still working on the Degrassi articles! Anyway my talk page has too many conversations and it's spilling out of my borders. I tried adding Miszabot but it didn't do anything. I see you have your talk page archived - would you be able to do what's necessary to mine, just to make it work. I can change any parameters like days or size to what suits me afterwards. I've been told that it's possible there's a waiting period of about 24 hours before it gets to work, which is fine. If you can help, thankyou. -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 19:21, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added the MiszaBot configuration template to your header, inside the noincludes. I set it up to use the same archive "directory" structure as my own; you can change it to whatever you want. Check out User:MiszaBot for a link to a page that describes all the parameters. It should do something for you in the next 12 hours or so, if not sooner (it generally archives this page around 14:00 UTC). Let me know how it goes. I've got your page on my watchlist now, but let me know if there's anything you want to change and I'll help you if you need it. Hope all goes well! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:10, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed your attempt to copy my configuration. It looks pretty good; I don't see why it would fail (except you only left it in for about 15 minutes). We'll start with the archiving first, then add the archive box and its attendant Index and List subpages, then try out HBC Archive Indexerbot. Notice that I started your counter at 1 instead of 4. I didn't see any archive subpages in your account. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:16, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, yes I did try to copy it. I think I was expecting it to archive as soon as I put it in, I guess that's not the case; and no, ther are no archive subpages! -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 22:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
MBIII archived a bunch of stuff last night. Would you like me to get you set with {{archives}} and HBC Archive Indexerbot or not? Let me know when you have a moment; cheers! :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 17:20, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's best to do what ever you think is necessary. Thanks for hooking me up so far, too! -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 22:56, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I finished setting up everything else, I think. HBC Archive Indexerbot should be along to index your two (for now) pages in an hour or two. I'm thinking about bumping down your archive size, though. 250K is pretty big, even if it is the default. Let me know about that. And you're welcome for the help; it's my pleasure. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 03:00, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It all seems to be going well so far. Thanks again! -- Matthew Edwards | talk | Contribs 22:28, 1 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK... so I've began to assess the robotics articles. Please review the article assessment guidelines and help this WikiProject out by helping out with the following:

  • Adding Robotics-related articles to the WikiProject
  • Assessing robotics articles listed in Category:Robotics articles by quality
  • Helping out with giving comments to individual articles after assessment, pointers, comments, etc. (basically, don't just give an article class and move on, let people know what led you to give such a rating when necessary.

We need to get this article assessment drive going first before peer reviews and collaborations programs can be made.

Aside from the amusement of you messaging yourself above ( ;-) ), I noticed that you accidentally added about nine user talk pages to the category Robotics articles by quality. It was caused by a missing colon before Category, which I fixed (also using AWB). Glad to see the project getting started! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:16, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the speedy tag on Gramophone Records (label). Since the creator has tagged the article as "under construction", let's give him or her a few days to prove notability. You might want to take another look at the article on February 8 or 9. I hope that he or she will have improved it by then. --Eastmain (talk) 19:33, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It took me a bit to figure out which article that was. I didn't actually add the speedy tag; I just put it back after the author replaced it with {{hang on}}. :) The editor who originally added the tag was Redfarmer. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:37, 4 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Germans and Protestants

Why did you revert my changes in the Germans-article? That the Protestants formed the majority in Germany is fact for long time of its history. If it is for orthografic reason you could correct ist as a nativ speaker - but I think that it is a interesting fact that the German Empire had nearly two third of the population as Protestants. 195.243.51.34 (talk) 07:33, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Sorry about your name. you are a vulcan, not a dead bay area rapper. i was tired, i apologise. but why did you consider my message vandalism? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.33.189.227 (talk) 23:33, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, the kind of message you left is associated with vandals trying to prove their innocence so nobody will block them and they can keep vandalizing. I'm glad you came back, though; your show of politeness tells me you're probably not a vandal, and I apologize for calling you one. I don't remember which edit was yours, exactly, but it may have been a case of me not thinking clearly or being on "autopilot" with the revert button. Or maybe it really looked like vandalism and I didn't think hard enough. Whatever the case may be, I am sorry for the misplaced accusation. See you around the wiki? User talk:89.244.182.22

In reference to edits[2][3][4][5] on Fortune (Unix), and presumably a couple warnings on User talk:89.244.182.22.

89.244.182.22 was just reverting a broken link --Antonio Lopez (talk) 01:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the link, and it's not broken. There is a page at the other end. Whether it's the intended target, I don't know, but http://linux.die.net/ does lead somewhere. Or are you referring to a different edit? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
that's because I fixed it, but he made a mistake thinking I reverted his edit.--Antonio Lopez (talk) 01:34, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You fixed it, and then the IP deleted it multiple times, correct? Deleting legitimate external links that are not broken, yet calling them broken, seems at least borderline-vandalish to me. But maybe I'm oversensitive to vandalism... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:37, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
He does not know it is fixed. I believe there called good faith edits.--Antonio Lopez (talk) 01:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've struck my warnings. I see you're planning to remove them; don't let me stop you. :) Perhaps it would be better if there were a visible record of my stupidity. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It was just a mistake you know; We are human. Plus you were not the only one, there were at least two other user who did the same thing.--Antonio Lopez (talk) 02:05, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of AGF... :) See you around! (Now I just have to fix that template I'm trying to use at the top of this section... Hopefully the Village Pump will be helpful.) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:07, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well I am going to clear them because another user might use a tool and the tool might assume the user vandalized three times and might give him the Final edit warning --Antonio Lopez (talk) 02:13, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, mine would probably do that. Cheers! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 02:14, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Percieved Vandalism

I was trying to clean up the article All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir by taking out a huge chunk of unnecessary writing. That, of course raised some flags. Can you recondsider your changes and un-revert them? Higgyrun3 (talk) 01:40, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I personally don't see any real reason to delete such large amounts of text. I'd advise you to bring up the issue on the article's talk page to try and attract opinions from other contributors to the article. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:58, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Correction: I'd advise you to wait and discuss the changes with other editors before deleting things again. I just saw your comment there. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 01:59, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "vandalism"

Hi, you keep reverting the changes I am making to the Dance Dance Revolution page despite it being credible constructive information, and labeling it at "vandalism", even threating to remove my editing privileges. Perhaps you should read over some of the references I cite, or at least educate yourself on the subject a little bit so you will realize the validity of the changes I have made.

I tried to add the following lines into a new section labeled "Trivia":

Jason Gilleece of Effort, Pennsylvania currently holds the world record for Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME at 680,808,465 points. (sources: http://spyhunter007.com/guinness_world_records_2007.htm http://www.twingalaxies.com/index.aspx?c=46&id=1164)

1998 is a very important, defining year for Konami, as it was the year that the first arcade version of Dance Dance Revolution was released. The song "1998" by NAOKI is a commemorative track devoted to this event. (source: http://www.konami.co.jp/am/ddr/extreme/)

You take these facts out and label them "vandalism" while leaving in useless facts about the "Groove Radar" which doesn't even appear in earlier Dance Dance Revolution games, and is practically useless in the ones that it exists in as well.

The top of the page claims it needs citations for verification, but when I provide these citations, you delete them and label it vandalism? I know you are a volunteer and user like me, but please do not delete pertinent facts. 38.98.218.218 (talk) 02:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Let's see... I remember these, actually. The thing is, I reverted those because they looked like the kind of thing people add to promote themselves. I must have spaced on the fact that there were references included. I actually don't know a whole lot about DDR; my anti-vandalism tool just flagged those edits for some reason. Lemme go back into the page history and see about restoring your text. Then I'll figure out why I only saw a new messages bar on the Web interface and not in the program I'm using... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 03:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There, I added them at the bottom, tagged with {{trivia}} so someone (hopefully) will merge the info into the relevant section(s). Cheers! Now to remove vandalism warnings... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 03:40, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, sir. I had originally seen this data on Cassiopedia and thought it would be a good idea to crosspost this information to Wikipedia along with the sources, since the article itself seemed to be very similar between both sites (barring the Trivia section which wasn't on Wikipedia). Anyway, cheers! Thank you also for removing the vandalism warnings. 38.98.218.218 (talk) 03:45, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're quite welcome; I like to tidy up my mistakes. It's always nice to see anonymous users that aren't actually vandals. :) Cheers to you, too! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 03:47, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, it seems that it was deleted once again? Just for verification, is it not suitable for the article? I don't want to try to edit it again in the future and receive a vandalism warning for it, so please get back to me on what happened to it. Thanks. 38.98.218.218 (talk) 04:29, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Judging from AeronPrometheus' edit summary, I'd say you should go through the article and put the information into relevant sections. Obviously, a trivia section isn't going to work. WP:TRIVIA discourages them, anyway. He says to do the work myself, but I don't know anywhere near as much about DDR as someone like you. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 04:33, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Mexico Primary

Dear Tuvok

Could you please tell what was wrong with removing Hillary Clinton as winner of the New Mexico primary? As I write this, one percent of the vote is counted according to CNN ( http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/primaries/results/dates/index.html#val=20080205), with that one percent putting her on 42% of the vote and Barack Obama on 38%. Later on I have no objection to adding her as the winner, but with so few votes counted, and the gap so close, surely it is premature at this stage?

Forgot to sign - my apologies.125.239.170.202 (talk) 05:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given the amount of political vandalism I've seen in the past couple days, and the fact that I can only see about two or three lines above and below your edits, I really can't tell what you're changing in the table. MediaWiki table syntax isn't very good with source-code readability... I have no problem with what you're doing, personally; it's just that it looks like so much other anti-Clinton vandalism I've seen. Go ahead and keep doing it; I'll do my best to check edits to tables more thoroughly in the future. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 06:02, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. According to CNN, Clinton and Obama are now both on 48%, with Obama slightly ahead in the actual number of votes, so it definitely needs changing for now. I'll do it right away.125.239.170.202 (talk) 06:50, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to note that having no personal objection doesn't exactly constitute "approval"... :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:03, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry. Didn't mean to be presumptous. I just didn't want anyone else to revert it without actually looking at the circumstances.125.239.170.202 (talk) 07:06, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No harm done, and there shouldn't be. For your future contributions, the technique I've always seen used is to mention a conversation in the edit summary, linking to it (for this example) using a comment like Continuing edits to candidate positions after [[User talk:Voyagerfan5761#New Mexico Primary|conversation]] with Voyagerfan5761/Tuvok. Mentioning that you had a conversation with another editor, rather than implying their support of your edits, is probably the best way to go. Implicating someone else's endorsement of your edits could get them in trouble if other users don't like what you change.
Just think of this as some food for thought. Er, advice. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 07:11, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I'll remember your advice.125.239.170.202 (talk) 08:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My talk page

Wow! I hadn't even gotten the new messages bar before you had reverted the edits. Thanks! -anabus_maximus (Talk to me) 06:16, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sometimes, you just gotta love the delayed database updates. ;-) My pleasure! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 06:20, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the revert on my userspace! :) I must be doing a good job, eh? ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 04:55, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone who's a Voyager fan will get their userpage reverted. I do like Lt. Commander Data better than Tuvok though... ;) · AndonicO Hail! 11:28, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, I would think Tuvok's character is more a parallel of Worf. Seems Data and The Doctor occupy similar roles, too. Character studies... :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 17:08, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm. I had never thought about Worf and Tuvok being similar. The Doctor, and Data are part of a threesome though: Seven of Nine. ;) · AndonicO Hail! 18:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't Seven more akin to Deanna Troi? The way I see it, Kes was supposed to be Troi's VOY counterpart, but she didn't attract enough viewers and so was replaced by Seven. But Seven has qualities of both Troi and Data, so I see where you're coming from there. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 18:13, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What makes you say Seven and Troi are similar? It seems to me like they're personalities conflict... Seven doesn't really care what others think about anything, whereas Troi knows, and cares very much (can't remember the name of the episode where she lost her Betazoid abilities, but she was depressed). · AndonicO Hail! 18:17, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying their personalities are similar, or that they fulfill the same functions within the Trek universe. I'm pointing out that the creators' purposes in including Troi and Seven (and Kes, too) were similar: Trying to attract viewers, if you know what I mean. :)
Troi lost her empathic powers in the appropriately named episode "The Loss", just to refresh your memory. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 18:23, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sexual attraction? And I thought the Slave Girls were for that... ;) · AndonicO Hail! 18:59, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, and thanks for the memory refresh. · AndonicO Hail! 19:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(undent) No problem; I've been watching TNG lately as a break from VOY, so that episode is relatively fresh in my mind. I haven't seen any Orions, though; were they mostly a TOS thing? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's "outdent", actually. ;) I'm annoyed that the only channel that aired TNG here canceled it... :/ Damn Spike TV. I think Orions are more TOS/ENT (never actually seen one, just read). · AndonicO Hail! 19:06, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds about right re the Orions. I guess the production team wanted to go with something a little more subtle. I'm going on hearsay about them, too; I've only read about them in three of Shatner's Trek novels. But yeah, I haven't seen Trek in any shape or form on regular television in a long time, and it's even becoming scarce on premium cable (the kind you get in hotels). Perhaps it's a Paramount/CBS/whoever-they-are-now conspiracy to starve Trek fans of their favorite shows so they'll flock to see Star Trek (film) when it's released? :P Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:17, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
:O I'm guessing Paramount/CBS/whoever-they-are-now is an invading telepathic species. They're after us to put in a museum as the objectification of stupidity. :P · AndonicO Hail! 19:25, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
lol! :P See you around the wiki. :) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 19:27, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on your Userpage

Hi, Voyagerfan5761. I just wanted to let you know that I reverted edits on your userpage that would seemingly be false about your Wikipedia-related life. I hope that made you happy! SchfiftyThree 18:45, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It did indeed! Thanks! I'm leaving an official thank-you on your talk page, too. :) Cheers! Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 18:53, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage vandalism

Orginal comment, left on User talk:Bobo192

Thanks for the revert on my userspace! :) Sometimes I wish changes to one's userpage popped up a banner, too... Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 18:54, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That is absolutely fine, thank you for your message. It's amazing sometimes how often changes in the mainspace can be reverted within 20 seconds, and yet I've known edits on my own userpage have taken until I saw them 12 hours later before they were fixed. All the best. Bobo. 18:57, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Name

Hello! I forgot to ask this in our previous conversation, and I'm sure it's been asked already, but why do you sign with Tuvok? Is it that you don't like your username? I did a quick check and the user name "Tuvok" has been taken, but the previous user only made two minor edits. Have you considered usurping that username? Forgive my noseyness :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 00:57, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That goes way back to when I first signed on. I messed with my preferences a lot before even discovering talk pages, and I saw what was then labeled the "Nickname" field. It didn't even occur to me that Voyagerfan5761 was a long name for talk pages, since I hadn't really figured them out yet, but I like Tuvok's character and I try to emulate his logic and coolness when I'm editing. I have since built a cohesive online identity around the username Voyagerfan5761, and most of the sites I'm registered on don't allow changing names.
Going along with the logic thread, every time I post to a talk page, I try to be the voice of reason, the voice of well-thought ideas, the voice of neutrality. I think signing my name as Tuvok helps inspire me to follow those ideals. If there's a concern over my using a different name in my signature, I can change it -- I had a previous discussion about my "nickname" a while back, as well. That outcome was that it was fine. Anything I haven't covered? Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 03:21, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
PS: Sorry I took so long responding; I was writing a dissertation on Talk:Muhammad/images, as mentioned below.
PPS: Actually, maybe I should consider usurping the old account in case the user becomes active again. Is that something I can do?
That's a really great reason to use a name :). I actually chose mine because of similar priniciples so I can understand the importance of a name. I have no concern about you using that name in your sig, I really was just interested and thought I'd ask :). As for whether you'd be allowed to usurp that user name, it's probably at a bureaucrat's discretion. The two edits the account made (back in 2005) were completely minor, and in the interests of preventing an impersonator, making that account a doppleganger account might be wise. Especially as you're headed for adminship :). Seraphim♥ Whipp 11:07, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll look over the doppelganger and usurpation prospects tomorrow. Perhaps I should also register Tuv0k, 7uvok, 7uv0k, TUVOK, TuVoK, TUvok, etc... Or not... That would probably be overkill. ;-) Tuvok[T@lk/Improve] 11:11, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
