Synaptics[edit]

Please do not include huge amounts of information from the company's own website. Wikipedia articles are based on what others write about the subject, not what the subject says about itself. Nthep (talk) 17:03, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

So you say not to include huge amounts of information from the company's own website, instead the articles are about what others write about the subject. What is wrong with info from the company? that is the information that is needed when looking up the subject is it not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlene.Gage (talkcontribs) 17:27, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No it isn't whats needed. Wikipedia articles are not promotional or advertising outlets for the subject. Although some basic information e.g. location etc from the company's own website is ok, tracts of text containing sentences like "Synaptics is one of the leading developers of human interface solutions" - says who is the immediate reaction - and long lists of company products, especially in paragraphs starting "We" or "Our" are not acceptable. Please read WP:PROMOTION and the rest of that page to understand what Wikipedia is and isn't about. Nthep (talk) 17:36, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please read WP:COI. Wikipedia is not a collection of social media links, nor is it a vehicle for advertising copy. I suggest that you bring up your proposed changes on the article's Talk page, but leave it to others to decide what will improve the article. As it is, you are already vulnerable to being blocked.
