September 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page.

Request reason:

Hi Wikipedia team, I am very sorry for this incident! I would like to clarify some things and hope that I can be unblocked with another username. Indeed, I did not look up the FAQ carefully enough to realize that the chosen username was not appropiate to the username policy. This was totally my fault and I completely understand that the user BooseyHawkesSikorski had to be blocked. Thank you for being aware of this so quickly! I think it is important for everyone in this community to obey objectivity and neutrality when adding information to an encyclopedia as Wikipedia. Contributions I plan to make are translations of already existing articles in the German Wikipedia and corrections of facts and/or grammar of already existing articles. I am a studied musicologist working on the rediscovery of forgotten (female) composers to show a broader view of what there is to be found in classical music in addition to the popular mainstream. Although I am working for a music publisher, I don't intend to earn money with this or use Wikipedia for advertisement of this music publishing company but to showcase persons of public interest before the historical background of suppressed music especially around World War II. and share my passion and knowledge about this with others. Accept reason:

Allowing username change to requested username. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Graham87 (talk) 05:58, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Graham87: As I can see, this user made one edit prior to being blocked. What was so promotional in that edit to warrant a hard block? Vanjagenije (talk) 00:31, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Vanjagenije: It was probably a bit harsh but I also took their German Wikipedia edits into account, where they requested page imports incorrectly *twice*, indicating that there was probably something very wrong and perhaps a connection to the publisher.
    • I'm in to classical music too but I'm somewhat skeptical of the movement to uncover forgotten women's composers, especially after having major disputes with a user who also edits in this niche, T. E. Meeks; Wikipedia's not a place to right great wrongs. If you stick to article translation, grammatical fixes, and making sensible connections between articles, you'll be fine. I notice that Maria Herz, whose article you were trying to get translated here, is already mentioned on Wikipedia, so I have no problem with her having an article here.
