I'm just alerting your attention to the new WikiProject on Irish football as you may be interested in taking part. Danny InvincibleTalk|Edits 02:14, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, would you be so kind as to give us support!

Hello, I hope you're doing fine and I sincerely apologize for this intrusion. I've just read your profile and I saw that you're proud to be Irish (I wish I can visit your wonderful country some time soon!), so you understand what are a minorized language and culture and maybe I am not bothering you and you will help us... I'm a member of a Catalan association "Amical de la Viquipèdia" which is trying to get some recognition as a Catalan Chapter but this hasn't been approved up to that moment. We would appreciate your support, visible if you stick this on your first page: Wikimedia CAT. Supporting us will be like giving equal opportunity to minorized languages and cultures in the future! Thanks again, wishing you a great summer, take care! Keep on preserving your great culture, country, music and language! Slán agat! Capsot (talk) 07:18, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Gaybo's Grumpy Men

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Gaybo's Grumpy Men, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Gaybo's Grumpy Men. brewcrewer (yada, yada) 03:18, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Hello

You have done a nice job in World Universities Ranking Template. It will be rally nice and organized if you join us in WikiProject Debating and help Wikipedia to improve debate related articles. Cheers. -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 15:41, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi, what is this? A village? Could that information be added to the article? J Milburn (talk) 21:50, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, that's great. J Milburn (talk) 21:57, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Drummoyne

Hi Bogger, I have reverted a change you recently made to Drummoyne. What leads you to say that a Sottish placename is part of the Irish language? I will change the wp:dab to Scottish Gaelic if you have no other information. Thanks. Bleakcomb (talk) 10:56, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

No sweat. Thanks for your edits. Bleakcomb (talk) 06:33, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Vere Wynne-Jones

I have removed the reference you added to the article Vere Wynne-Jones. Per WP:CITE, references should be to reliable sources, but the link you added to http://www.spock.com/Vere-Wynne-Jones is just to an aggregator site. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:35, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Notability of Vere Wynne-Jones

A tag has been placed on Vere Wynne-Jones requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. 194.46.238.241 (talk) 00:03, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Your recent edits to Scout Association articles on most welcome, so please do not take amiss my edits to this article and my comments on its talk page. This article needs wider discussion. The activity from editors on UK Scout articles is far too low. We need help. Best wishes, --Bduke (talk) 23:47, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

There's a current change to an article that I feel should have the discussion of the whole Wkiproject. It's the article above, the old version is this and the new version is the current version. I think some discussion on which version would be best would be wise in this situation. Feel free to discuss this on the article talk page. Thanks, SteveBot (owner) 21:20, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Geoffrey Keating as Gael at Ballylooby

Hi Bogger,Please don't take this amiss but it is factually incorrect to describe Seatrun Ceitinn as a 'Gael'as implied by your direct. I really don't want to get into an editing tennis match, however' 'Ethnically', Keating was of Cambro-Norman descent and would have been associated with the 'Old English', that is those from what is now Britain who settled long prior to the reformation, as distinct from the Protestant 'New English. The term Gaelic here refers , not to Ceitinn's 'biological identity' but to his studies of Irish (Gaelic) history and culture and his identifying with same. The distinction is essential to understanding his place in Gaelic historiography.RashersTierney (talk) 23:01, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey Rashers, I never meant to infer his ethnicity or nationality. A gaelic historian is a historian of gaelic stuff. Gaelic is a disambiguation page, so [little or no articles] should refer to it. I changed it to Gaels as I believed that he was someone wo studied/wrote the history of the Gaels. Either way, "Gaelic" can mean upto 18 things, I just picked one.

Bogger (talk) 16:31, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I understand, I just don't think you picked the most appropriate one. It makes a difference.RashersTierney (talk) 16:44, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

A largely irrelevant comment

When I saw the edit summary "cat Hurling awards", the very first thing that sprang to mind with me had nothing to do with Wikipedia categorization. I'd already clicked to examine the edit for vandalism before I suddenly realized what you meant. - Vianello (talk) 01:05, 12 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed you voted 'support' in the opening proposal at WP:IDTF. You may not have noticed, but the taskforce has been put up for deletion. The proposal was only part of the taskforce, but if you actually support the taskforce itself, please support it in the AfD. Deletion decisions tend to be headcounts, and good pages can be deleted (or bad pages kept) simply through lack of voters! It's important everyone participating turns out.

Poll on Ireland (xxx)

A poll is up at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ireland_Collaboration/Poll on Ireland (xxx). This is a vote on what option or options could be added in the poll regarding the naming of the Ireland and Republic of Ireland and possibly the Ireland (disambiguation) pages. The order that the choices appear in the list has been generated randomly. Sanctions for canvassing, forum shopping, ballot stuffing, sock puppetry, meat puppetry will consist of a one-month ban, which will preclude the sanctioned from participating in the main poll which will take place after this one. Voting will end at 21:00 (UTC) of the evening of 1 July 2009 (that is 22:00 IST and BST). -- BigDuncTalk 21:00, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I have nominated Una Healy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Una Healy (2nd nomination). Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

CfD nomination of Category:Libertas in the Czech Republic and others

I have nominated the following categories for deletion:

While I think your decision to create so many separate categories for Libertas-affiliated parties was perfectly okay at that time, it has shown that Libertas.eu doesn't have a future and remains a one-event-campaign. This however means that from today's perspective, so many categories for a minor and largly successless elections campaign are not warranted by notability and represent overcategorization. However, this is my opinion and the result will be determined in the discussion.

Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page.

Thank you. PanchoS (talk) 22:24, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

The article Oxygen.ie Student Media Award has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No third-party sources, does not appear to be a notable award ceremony.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Stifle (talk) 14:32, 23 April 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:01, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion

When you tag an article with {{subst:Proposed deletion|1=Reason}}, you should NOT create a Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Article page. The proposed deletion process is NOT subject to any discussion. If somebody objects to proposed deletion, they simply remove the proposed deletion tag, ending the proposed deletion process. The Articles for deletion page is ONLY used when nominating an article for deletion using the WP:AFD process. Thanks. Safiel (talk) 04:22, 15 October 2014 (UTC)
