Maybe he'll be back, maybe not. One thing's for sure though: he can never again try to take the moral high ground with anyone. Trying to get people blocked for alleged incompetence or being not here to edit the encyclopedia, all while running a big socking ring, is about as hypocritical as you can get. If he comes back and tries the old tactic of yelling abuse at people and then running to WT:CRIC to sob about how hard done by he is, one only needs to remind everyone of the false flag operation he's been running. Kent County Cricket Club in 2018 Many thanks for setting up the page! I had been meaning to do so again, but work commitments have limited me to updates and fixes rather than any creation lately. It is not necessary to revert "unnecessary" pipes. "Wisden" was briefly made into a disambiguation page, for which all incoming links needed to be fixed, but after discussion was changed back to a redirect. Virat Kohli

Hi again. I suspect this will not go down well in some quarters. I was reading about Kohli and found a load of stats for the sake of stats at the foot of the article. I deleted it all and it amounted to 50kb! Can you put the article on watch, please, in case I need your help? Alternatively, if I'm mistaken, then please do explain the policy to me. Not finding too much time for editing, I'm afraid. Busy, busy.

Date formatting

Just for future reference, the fact that dates are written day-first in French does not automatically force day-first date formatting in English just because the subject happens to be from a French-speaking region. The rule for date formatting in Canadian articles, inclusive of Quebec, on the English Wikipedia is to not to flip dates back and forth based on personal or regional or WP:ENGVAR preferences — dates in Canadian-related articles are kept at whichever format, DMY or MDY, was used by the first person to add a full date to the article, and are flipped only if there's an internal inconsistency within the article. Bishopsbourne Paddock

You should move this to Bourne Paddock. The contemporary sources used three different versions (the third is Bourn Paddock) but Ian Maun's researches prove conclusively that Bourne Paddock was the most common. Haygarth adopted Bishopsbourne Paddock throughout S&B so his usage has been transcripted here. To be fair to Haygarth, the earliest known primary source mention of the ground called it Bishopsbourne Paddock. Thank you. Just one other point. Please do not cite CricketArchive for 18th century matches, venues or people. Beware especially of their "views" about first-class status. If you have a query about something in S&B, Buckley, Waghorn, ACS, Maun, etc. or just want a page number, raise it at the article talk page and I will see it, probably within a week or two, and I'll look up the information.

The majority of these articles have not been revised since the 2000s so I'm happy to see them being flagged up but information has to be correct for the benefit of the readers and CricketArchive's coverage of early cricket to about the time of WG is frankly unreliable, which is why the book sources are so important (and they are reliable). 213.1.11.20 (talk) 09:51, 30 April 2018 (UTC)

@Hawkeye7: Hi. As TRM says, the name is one of those things about the North of Ireland which creates headaches for some people. I'm sure it will be referred to as Londonderry in almost all the books about his, but the compromise (which is fully documented somewhere or other, but briefly at Talk:Derry) suggests that we should use Derry where we're talking about the city really. Eric Norman Spencer Crankshaw

Hi, thank you for the edits you did yesterday on John Frederick Ireland. Since you know cricket, I have a question for you. Ireland's brother-in-law, ENS Crankshaw, was also a cricket player, but he has a military info box, so his cricket stats are not listed. Would it be appropriate to add a second info box for the cricket stats? What would you recommend? I appreciate the help. Diane Snider

1990s tours to SA

There have been something like 800 Test tours since 1877. For some reason, tours to SA in the 1990s are subject to the most absurd nonsense. Give me one good reason why the results of Tests between A and SA in SA in 1993-94 have to be hidden - as you put it: "The stats are all properly summarised so the data can be hidden. That's one reason why this article was accepted as one that could be published - it has prose rather than relying on statistics."

The results of the Bodyline tour are not hidden. The Test results of the West Indies victorious tour of England in 1950 are not hidden. Endless pages on this site about Test tours rely on scores rather than narrative. What is the difference? Marplesmustgo (talk) 15:48, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

I made an editorial decision which, quite frankly, I stand by. Neither of the articles you cite as examples have significant prose about each match. The 1950 tour has no prose about each match and is, quite frankly, a very poor article in general with little that could not be garnered from looking at the original scorecards. The 1932/33 article has a short section of prose about each match, but is extremely limited in comparison to the actual Bodyline article.

In terms of "one good reason" then: 1. editorial choice; 2. the stats are all properly summarised in the prose (as you quoted above); 3. please don't try and drag the quality of the article down to the, frankly, appalling quality of the majority of cricket tour articles - the article also, for example, has actual references to things other than scorecards or tables of stats, which is pretty unusual, and it discusses the wider relevance of the tour - those are both unusual, so perhaps you'd like to remove those as well?; 4. there is no style guide on this so it'd down to editorial choice - so stick with the version which was published or get consensus for a style guide change (which I will, of course, adhere to). Imran Khan

Hello Blue Square Thing. Thanks for your recent contributions on cricket articles. I was wondering if you would be interested, some time in the future, on collaborating on an article on the Cricket career of Imran Khan. Ironically, the Imran Khan article currently only has one section dedicated to his entire 21-year cricket career. There is a lot missing, including his early years in English country cricket, which he has largely attributed to his success in later years. I understand the size limitations of the main article (which is already long, and mostly about his politics) prevent much from being written about his cricket. For instance, nothing was mentioned about his role in reverse swing which I finally had to add. Hence the reason why a spin-off article may be more feasible altogether (which is unusual but justifiable in such circumstances; a similar precedent might explain Boxing career of Manny Pacquiao?). I doubt I'll have the time to contribute, but I can certainly see that a spin off article might very well be a good idea once there's enough in the main article. I should think the politics will take over things fairly soon - or maybe in this case there's actually an argument which could be made for an article on The political career of Imran Khan?

As the text of the article uses dates in the DMY format (and the {{Use dmy dates|date=May 2018}} template is shown at the top of the text), this format should be used for in the references as well. The use of dates in the YYYY-MM-DD format is not consistent with the text of the article. As I have not changed the content of any of your citations, the comment about the time spent "sourcing and adding refs to articles" is irrelevant.
