A barnstar for you!

The Citation Barnstar
Hello, sir recently you have removed some links from Mandya, Muthathi, Chopta, Shimla, and more. Why you always remove the links. Have you visited the post? The content written in the post is rich and the latest. So tell me how to do citations or Update the content by adding a reference or External link. Please tell me in-depth so I contribute as a good contributor. (Abhinavsrivastava.42634 talk) 07:27, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Hi Abhinavsrivastava.42634
What you have been doing is spamming, i.e. trying to promote, www.holidaymakerz.com a website you have added to almost all the articles you have edited. You received 2 final warnings for this in April, but added more links in May. You probably should have been blocked for this, but as it was a month ago, and I only discovered them yesterday, I just issued you another final warning.
The solution is not to add www.holidaymakerz.com, which does not appear to be what Wikipedia considers as a reliable source, as it seems to be a promotional tourist guide, which does not cite the sources where it obtained its information from, so we cannot check, or rely upon, what it says.
Such a website might be acceptable to our sister project Wikivoyage, which is more into tourism than Wikipedia, so it might be worth going over to their website - here.
The other problem with your edits is that you have been changing spellings in our articles from British English / Indian English to American English. This is contrary to WP:Engvar which respects local spellings, so please leave spellings like colour, neighbour, organise, realise, travelled, programme etc. etc. alone. I suspect, from your spelling changes, that you may be using a browser, or spell-check programme, set to US English - these can usually be changed to British English, and some may even have a setting for Indian English - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 09:08, 17 June 2020 (UTC)

Pratheeba Rani - you have just finished a block, having been reported by another user, not me, for:-
Harassment of other users, examples including false claims of blocking another user, and maliciously reporting them to AIV.
On completion of your block, you then proceed to harass me further, by re-adding the above post.
As seen in the post of 13 June, above, I have been extremely tolerant of your repeated trolling. In that post I also suggested that you read and follow Help:Referencing for beginners, but from your additions to Gudiyatham yesterday it is obvious that either you did not read it, or that you did not understand it.
A "reference" like <ref>dhinamalar,newspaper</ref> is not a reference, as people cannot verify the information; you need to provide all the information. You need to state on which page, and in what date newspaper the information can be found, preferably with a link to an on-line version of the page, if available (I assume you are referring to the Tamil daily paper Dinamalar). As explained in Help:Referencing for beginners this should be done using the {{cite news}} template, which will then format the reference correctly. Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 08:31, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

The only wikivoyage is acceptable. Ok so why travel triangle, make my trip, Holidify, Thrillophilia has a link in Wikipedia. If any normal website has to create a link and give the reference, citation, external link to the rich content then how you accept it. What is the procedure? Abhinavsrivastava.42634 (talk) 13:41, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
Abhinavsrivastava.42634 it is now blatantly obvious you are trying to promote www.holidaymakerz.com, which is against our rules. Wikipedia:Other stuff exists is not a reason to break our rules, - Arjayay (talk) 08:38, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

On Discretionary Sanctions Alert

Information icon Hello, I'm User:Laser Victor 2017. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. My recent edit to Skardu District was based on the different reports published by Indian and government. If you think this was a mistake, or if you have any questions, or if this hurt your feelings, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Laser Victor 2017
The Indian government claims are not the de facto position, which is what Wikipedia reports.Gilgit-Baltistan is currently administered by Pakistan as an administrative territory, although as we all know, Kashmir has been disputed between India, Pakistan and China since 1947.
Many countries make claims about land currently administered by other countries, Nepal has just significantly increased its claims on land currently administered by India, China claims all of Taiwan, etc. etc.
Wikipedia does not "take sides" it just reports what the actual position currently is, and Skardu is currently administered by Pakistan, so that is what our article states. - Arjayay (talk) 14:57, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Arjayay Wikipedia does not "take sides". According to the recent reports published by both the Indian and Pakistani media as well as the US Intelligence, Skardu in the disputed area of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, is being reportedly monitored and controlled by India and it is a de facto position. Yes, many countries make claims about land currently administered by other countries, but my edit reflects the recent developments only. I only tried to rectify the potential error which exists in the said article. Laser Victor 2017 (talk) 16:47, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Sir Namashkaar

Sir Namashkaar I need your help https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ustad_Ashique_Ali_Khan I am creating page of my Grandfather Ustad Ashique Ali Khan Amaan.ali30 (talk) 16:57, 19 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Amaan.ali30 - I'm not sure how I can help, as this is not an area of my expertise, and I am not a draft article reviewer.

Firstly. you need to clarify your references - both your references to The Hindu are to the same article. Initially, this newspaper article looks promising, but then part way down states "says the maestro’s wife Nafees Jahan in a press note." This is a disclaimer by the author, the information has come from his wife, not from research by The Hindu. As such, this is not a reliable, independent source, so does not prove "notability".
Secondly, you need to find more extensive coverage in reliable sources and add these. If these do not exist, then I cannot see your article being accepted.
Thirdly, you need to address the formatting and language, these are petty points that can easily be corrected, so should not influence a reviewer, but probably do. The WP:Manual of style is enormous, but look up WP:DATEFORMAT, WP:EUPHEMISM, WP:Quote and MOS:BOLD

It is not up to me or the reader to find the sources - as per Wikipedia:Verifiability "The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution."
Furthermore, information about dubs, streaming, distribution deals etc. are not suitable for inclusion in the lead. - Arjayay (talk) 17:12, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Edits on Shyok River

Shyok River flows through both India and Pakistan, therefore it should either be allowed to be written in both Hindi and Urdu or neither language, as per WP:INDICSCRIPT. Lmk what you make of this and which possibility should be implemented.

Requesting some advice and help for solving an issue

Iam a representative of the fan club manjappada of kerala blasters football club.We are one of the largest football fan clubs in India and won 2 awards for the best fan club.As most of the Indian fan clubs have a wikipedia page these days,we wanted one of ours too. Th article Manjappada, fan group of Kerala Blasters FC was first created in 2016 and deleted per discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Manjappada, failing SIGCOV. Again it was recreated in 2018 and redirect per discussion at 1, failing SIGCOV along with failing per G4 and G7 of WP:CSD. However, if we consider the first ,deletion of Manjappada was basically for not having significant coverage. All the times it got rejectes due to same reason and was moves into draftspace. But the latest article created was atleast four times the size of the 2016-2018 article. Its well structured than before and has coverage in TOI, The News Minute, FirstPost, AsianNet News, Sportskeeda, Goal.com, New Indian Express. But the reason one of the admins saying is that this page was already created previously..But as you know this was not like the previous page.So does that mean we cannot create a wikipedia page forever?? I am bringing this to your attention that this new article was approved and got redirected to kerala blasters wikipedia page after 3 weeks of approval.Me and my friend took 3 months for the creation of this page..So we are is in a state that we cannot create our wikipedia page for ever...Please help us in this issue ...please reply to me.. Manjappada Kerala Blasters Fans has been redirected as #REDIRECT Kerala Blasters FC #Support — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shahoodu (talkcontribs) 04:56, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi Tfareutalkingabout - firstly, please put new posts at the bottom, not in the middle of the page, and give them a title - click the "add topic" tab at the top of the page, and it does it for you.
You, personally, didn't receive a notification about Malcom Archer, the messages were left on pages of IP addresses as that article has been edited using different IPs in the Lewisham area.
As it clearly states under the line on the IP page:-
This is the discussion page for an anonymous user who has not created an account yet, or who does not use it. We therefore have to use the numerical IP address to identify them. Such an IP address can be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user and feel that irrelevant comments have been directed at you, please create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users.
You have, therefore, done the right thing, and created an account - best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 19:43, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

Hello IP from Irvine California
Why are you listing all these links? - Have I reverted any of them ? - NO I HAVE NOT - so they are totally irrelevant
You removed links like
Both of which you claimed were broken links, (twice for the Flannery link) and neither of which are
I accept that the New minor forcing link was broken, but you appear to be trying to replace all the bridgeguys.com links with bridgebum links - which clearly looks like spamming - Arjayay (talk) 16:34, 25 July 2020 (UTC)
STOP Arjayay. You are wrong!. This is not spamming. The old links to Bridge Guys have become WRONG because the original website domain has been taken over by a financial institution having niothing to do with contract bridge. The changes you are reverting are correct. Pay attention to the contact of the link and not just that it exists. Please and thank you. Newwhist (talk) 11:34, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
No Newwhist, the two links above, which are the two I warned the IP about replacing, claiming that they were broken, were not, and still are not, broken - I have reverted myself on the two links which were broken - Arjayay (talk) 11:40, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
YES Arjayay. The two links are to a financial institution. Look at all their tab links. Yes, they provide some contract bridge related material but this is a meme for "Payday Loans & Cash Advances". The link is a commercial advertisement and should be removed. Look at the whole site not just the meme come-on. Newwhist (talk) 11:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
OK Newwhist, now you have explained it fully, I understand your objections - however, The IP should have used a different edit summary, not claimed that these were broken links - Arjayay (talk) 11:59, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the list, actually been following up on the issue and it seems those are teens trying to seek recognition or something. Megan Barris (Lets talk📧) 19:35, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Megan Barris - I suspected that it was more sinister than that.
It looks extremely similar to the Nigerian phone scam, from 2017 or earlier, where if you used the mobile number to phone up one of the universities, they wanted your card details etc. before they sent you an application pack.
Of course they weren't the university - not all the universities in Nigeria use exactly the same mobile phone number - they wanted the card details to skim your bank account. - Arjayay (talk) 08:34, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

"Broadcasted" and other fixes

Hey Arjayay, have you ever used AWB? I've noticed over the years that you are on top of fixing grammar issues like "broadcasted" and whatnot. AWB is an amazing tool. With it, you could create find/replace rules based on all your personal peeves, then create article lists and automatically comb through those pages and apply your changes, without having to do it all manually.

For example, some guy made the idiotic mistake of adding |country = [[Tamil Nadu]] to Tamil TV articles. Somebody helped me set up a regex formula that will search for variations of this string and replace them with "|country = India". I can then create a list of articles to comb through based on, say, a category like Category:Tamil-language television soap operas, and process those pages. It's pretty cool. And once you load up your find/replace preferences with useful stuff like changing "-Present" to "–present", "ex husband" to "ex-husband", "broadcasted" to "broadcast" or whatever you want, you can make lots of improvements at once instead of doing it one-by-one. Anyway, if you want to save yourself some time, check it out. There is a bit of a learning curve, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:02, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi Cyphoidbomb - thanks for the suggestion
I have always avoided automated or semi-automated edits, as I like to "feel" in control (control freak alert) - and after 320K manual edits it hasn't been a problem, although perhaps I could be more efficient.
I have a very slow internet connection, which is why you often add a user-talk warning, after I have edited an article, before I can add my warning, so I get an edit-conflict.
Thanks again for the suggestion - I will look into it - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 08:47, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
Well, I won't try too hard to convince you. I will say though that if slow internet is a concern, it might wind up being a faster way to edit, because it doesn't require the loading of graphics like each page of Wikipedia does. It's just raw page text. Take care, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:18, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi HappyBird6858 - This is a subject I know nothing about, so would not be happy editing that page.
if you want to make changes to a semi-protected page, try and edit the page and it should set up a semi-protected edit request on the article's talk page.
Add the specific text you want adding, and/or deleting, explain exactly where in the article it should go and cite your sources. It will then be dealt with by an editor patrolling Semi Protected Edit Requests.
Please do not do what you are currently doing, going round pestering numerous editors with the same vague request - they can't help you, because they don't know what you want - Arjayay (talk) 13:15, 30 July 2020 (UTC).

Translating and/or spelling

Hey man. I am trying to get the Grafhorst page (English) the recgonition it deserves. Can u help me with translating! From a Grafhorst resident. PonkyVDK (talk) 21:08, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Hi PonkyVDK - I don't speak Dutch, and only went to that page because I was correcting uses of "the The"- not because I have any interest in, or knowledge of, that subject.
Having run the Grafhorst "reference" [1] through Google translate, it seems to repeatedly say that the history is unknown, and then make lots of guesses
I have no idea if roelpost is a reliable source but that reads more like a blog than a historical source, and it does not include any citations to explain where they got their information from, so very little can be based upon that article.

I have some written citations from before 1000 where the vikings went on a raid across the long river "The ijssel" which includes "Ganzendiep" (Near Grafhorst). But you are right about written documentation. There is not much to be found here. (It only goes "across the Ijssel")

Folklore tells us mostly they have been here.

I hope in the future to make some archeological digsites!

Again, i appreciate your reply. And i feel what you mean by it.

But i cannot seem to lay it to rest, i want to look further!

Ps : if my english is bad, It aint my native language Also i appreciate your work.

Hello

I m trying to helping parents and children to get the right information about schools, admission dates, fees. In India most of the schools at primary level doesn't have website and it's difficult for parents and student to get right information about schools. I m not promoting anyone just trying to give direction.

If this is an issue then I think Wikipedia should look into this. It's all about providing right information to right people. Happy searching — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indianguide23 (talkcontribs) 14:52, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

No Indianguide23 - You, and the IPs you are also using, are clearly trying to promote uniapply.com by repeatedly adding promotional spam links to several of our articles.
Using Wikipedia for promotion is clearly against our terms of use, and such links will be deleted on sight.
I suggest you stop trying to add these links before your website is also blacklisted on Wikipedia - which can also affect your posts on other sites - Arjayay (talk) 15:01, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

I m not sure if you have checked or not. As of now I have changes in one page and added few cite. I hope you check the content and link before "deleting on sight". One of the link belongs to the actual schools. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Indianguide23 (talkcontribs) 15:23, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

New uswer warning template for links to drafts

I have created {{Uw-Draft-link|articleName}}, a new user warning template for warning users that a link to draft space is inappropriate. If you are going to be finding and fixing such issues, please consider using this new template. It should be substituited, as most user warning templates are. Full details are in the template's documentation. Please tell me if you think this is a good idea. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 20:58, 31 July 2020 (UTC)

Thanks DES: I'd been using a set text, which I'd stored, but your template covers it all - Thanks again - Arjayay (talk) 08:57, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Having now played with it, DES, I can now see a possible slight improvement - you have used a capital D for draft - but as shown at Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace, other than links to noticeboards using initials such as {{ANI-notice}} and {{NPOVN-notice}} all the other templates are lower-case throughout, and my fingers are used to using lower case - I tried lower case, as in Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to test. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been removed. Thank you. but as shown, this doesn't work - Could this easily be changed? - Arjayay (talk) 10:50, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Change made to {{Uw-draft-link|articleName}}, You are right about consistency. No major problem. Thanks. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 19:56, 1 August 2020 (UTC)

Just to let you know...

...No need to issue a level 4im warning after a level 4. Level 4im are for exceptionally serious vandalism. Other than that, once you have issued a level 4 warning (sometimes, even after a level 3), you can report the editor in question to a noticeboard. Cheers. Salvio 17:04, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Please help me, I need your help

Hello, Arjayay, I am user: Ryhetu , some days before Iam created an article Laudi Khela but now it is Nominated for Deletion by someone, iam a new comer wikipedian and I can't understand why it is Nominated for deletion , so I request to you please help me or rectify this article if possible. Thanks Ryhetu (talk) 01:46, 3 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Ryhetu - This is not a subject I know anything about - I just improved your English.
You need to argue your case at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Laudi Khela referring to policies and the fact that you have added more references since the original nomination.
Do not remove the AFD tag again, as this will not work (as happened last time, a bot will come and put it back), and you will be seen as being disruptive. Good luck - Arjayay (talk) 07:34, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

Charles J. Moore

I am new to Wikipedia and I am not sure I am using the right page to email you. There is no Email User in the panel on the left. I am Captain Charles J. Moore's Media Assistant and am trying to make corrections to his Wikipedia history. It is a daunting task. I have made minor changes to the Main Page which were easy. However, I have sent nearly two hours reviewing "Hot to edit an image" and trying to change the image on the Main Page and have not been successful. I get just so far hit publish and nothing happens. If you could guide me I would appreciate it. Savveouroceans — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saveouroceans (talkcontribs) 14:37, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello Saveouroceans - I have moved your post to the bottom and added a title. Please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
As "Charles J. Moore's Media Assistant", you have a clear WP:Conflict of interest, so should not be editing his page, but proposing changes on the article's talk page.
Looking at the edits you have made, you have deleted cited information and half of the references, and added multiple unsourced statements. Moreover, even if the information was sourced, the style of your edits is unacceptable.
Please understand two things, which are frequently misunderstood:-
  1. Our article Charles J. Moore is Wikipedia's article about him, not Charles J. Moore's article, and he has no say in what is included/excluded, which is determined by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
  2. Wikipedia is not interested in what the article subject, their website, company, management, employees, PR agents, relatives, friends or anyone else connected to them, in any way, say about them.
Wikipedia is only interested in what reliable, independent sources, who have no connection whatever with the subject, have published about them, and those statements need to be sourced.
Having looked at your edits, I have little option but to revert them. Please read and follow Wikipedia:Conflict of interest which is summarised in Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide
Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 15:19, 7 August 2020 (UTC)

Dear Arjayaym I want to thank you for your detailed message, information and guidelines. Before I saw your message earlier today, I added the material again to see what would happen, not knowing what I was doing was wrong. I have to study the guidelines and rules carefully. I was unable to put the tildes in the right place, etc. therefore could not apply this reply in the correct way.

Again, thank you for your diligence and help. I now better understand Wikipedia's platform. It's not easy.

Hi UMAGPR - I'm not a new article reviewer, but if you push the button to submit your draft, I'm fairly sure it will be refused. On a quick look, you need to:-
  1. explain what/where it is, more clearly in the opening sentence
  2. explain why it is important
  3. remove a lot of promotional puffery like "scintillating"(twice) "Architectural Wonder", "proud of its appearance" and "picture perfect"
  4. remove the "travel guide" descriptions. "This is your best way to experience the ancient wonders our country is famous for." "this site is very scenic and it should not be missed by everyone" - (which says the reverse of what you intended in any case)
Unfortunately, this does not leave you with much - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 10:49, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Dhakar ‎

Why are you removing important information about dhakad caste which is being edited? Kunal Nagar (talk) 12:51, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Kunal Nagar, firstly, please put new posts at the bottom of any talk page and add a title, as was requested immediately above where you placed your post.
As was explained in my edit summary, and on your talk page on 8 April 2020, you were spamming a blog - which is not a reliable source in any case.
I note you have, today, made further, unsourced, additions to the Dhakar page, These will have to removed, as they do not meet Wikipedia's requirements that information be verifiable in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, and that these sources are cited. Please see Help:referencing for beginners for how to do that.
Please understand that Wikipedia is not interested in what you "know", nor what is published in any blog, or any other unreliable source - thank you - Arjayay (talk) 16:58, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

So you are saying that this information is wrong. Okay i suggest you to read Vishnu Puran, then decide what's wrong or what's right. Kunal Nagar (talk) 09:27, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

No, Kunal Nagar, nobody is saying it is wrong (nor saying it is right, either) - it is unsourced, which is unacceptable. As stated at WP:BURDEN:-
All content must be verifiable. The burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material, and it is satisfied by providing an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the contribution.
As the material you are adding is not cited to a reliable source, it is not verifiable, which is why it is being removed - Arjayay (talk) 09:35, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Okay then help me. How did i add information which is acceptable? Kunal Nagar (talk) 09:51, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Fair enough Kunal Nagar, I'm always willing to help; provided you stop vandalizing pages, like you did at my User page.
Firstly, find a specific piece of information in a reliable source, not what you "know", nor in a blog, nor other non-independent website - and please note that Raj-era sources are not accepted as being reliable.
Then re-write what the reliable source says, in your own words, not copying it, as that would be a copyright infringement, but without altering the meaning.
Then read Help:referencing for beginners for the sort of citation you need to use; website, journal, etc. and see what information is required.
Add the information and the reference at the same time, as otherwise it is likely to be removed, then move on to your next piece of information.
Do not try to add lots of information at once, as if there is a problem with a bit of it, the whole lot is likely to be removed. - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 10:34, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for help and hope you will not remove this time Kunal Nagar (talk) 05:29, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello can you please check it again. Did I published it correctly? Kunal Nagar (talk) 19:34, 14 August 2020 (UTC)

Edits on 313th MI Bn

Hey Arjayay. Saw you cleaned up the 313th Military Intelligence Battalion (United States) page by removing the sections under the unit's history in WWII, Cold War and Vietnam. The reason I did it that way was because the battalion traces it's lineage through three different units, each with different roles during those time periods. I was trying to capture those unique histories of those units in their own sections. It was for ease of reading and I'd like to keep it that way, but if it somehow screws up the bigger wikipedia picture then I understand. --R.M.Maruska (talk) 06:52, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi R.M.Maruska I didn't remove "the sections under the unit's history in WWII, Cold War and Vietnam", I changed them from "fake sections" created by using bold text, into real sections, created by using ====. The section titles and text, other than some mis-used italics, appear exactly the same as before.
I thought this made the Table of Contents (ToC) rather too long, so I hid these sub-sub-sections in the ToC, but as "fake sections" they did not appear in the ToC before, in any case. If you want them to appear, simply remove the {{TOC limit|3}} I added near the top of the page.
Using real sections, allows easier navigation, linking and editing - I'm pretty sure there is a guideline against fake sections somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment - best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 08:24, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Sorry if I sounded accusatory. Of course you didn't delete the data. By using the "fake sections" I was trying to keep the TOC smaller, I didn't know about the "TOC limit" command and it's exactly what I needed. Thank you for the help and if you have any more advice, it would be greatly appreciated. --R.M.Maruska (talk) 04:11, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Yuasa Phenomenon

Regarding Yuasa Phenomenon, thanks for correcting ... I wasn't aware of the linking to Draft policy ... what do you recommend regarding getting people aware of Yuasa ( Draft:Mitsutomo Yuasa )? Seems like most of the material on him is in Japanese, and much 'pre-internet'. Suggestions welcome Emoritz2017 (talk) 12:56, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Emoritz2017
Your phrase "getting people aware of Yuasa" seems to show some misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is about.
Wikipedia is not here to promote anything, anyone, any ideas, or any other aspect of an article's subject, and "promotion" covers all aspects, it is not just commercial promotion.
Wikipedia articles should only reflect what has already been published in reliable, independent sources, which have no connection whatever with the subject. These do not have to be in English, and can be "dead-tree" sources, but they must be cited, so that the information can be verified. If your problem is translation, it might be worth asking for help at Wikipedia talk:Japan-related topics notice board where there might also be an interested editor.
I know nothing about Yuasa, but I suspect that, if there is insufficient information to justify an article 15 years after his death, such an article is unlikely to be forthcoming - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 17:15, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi User:Arjayay

Thank you for taking the time to comment and provide advice. I think I understand what Wikipedia is about, and I guess I didn't phrase my comment as well as I could / should have. I do appreciate you sensitizing me to this concern. I am not promoting anything except the advance of knowledge through making knowledge available and transparent. I am of the school of thought that takes Wikipedia very seriously ... and I like to quote Joseph's PHD Dissertation on Wikipedia, "In 1945 Vannevar Bush (1890-1974), an electrical engineer and advocate ofAmerica’s war research program, published “As We May Think” in Atlantic Monthly. Bush motivates the article by noting the glut of information that confounds researchers and impedes progress. For example, Mendel’s laws of genetics were lost to science for a century because “his publication did not reach the few who were capable of grasping and extending it” (Bush, 1945, §1). [via https://reagle.org/joseph/2008/03/dsrtn-in-good-faith.pdf] [eagle, Joseph M. "In good faith: Wikipedia collaboration and the pursuit of the universal encyclopedia." PhD diss., New York University, School of Education, 2008.]". Thus, when I see something that I believe reflects Mendel's issue, “his publication did not reach the few who were capable of grasping and extending it”, I work to enable reaching those who can grasp and extend significant knowledge.

my goal is to help make the global knowledge environment closer to Vannevar Bush's vision, where opportunities for major discoveries are accelerated". I have no relation or previous knowledge of Yuasa, I came across his work in studying the shifting of global research centers over the past 400 years, and it appears that he is the first to have obtained quantitative data for it and the specialists in that field cite his work. I am trying to obtain the obituary written about him [Obituary “Mitsutomo Yuasa (1909-2005) Historia Scientiarum、vol.15,No.2,pp.201-204.(2005)] to better describe his life. I currently have no access to this material [it is available at some major universities in print, but not digitally, and at some National Archives in Japan].Emoritz2017 (talk) 22:02, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

Template Search

Hi Arjayay - I am looking for a template to create a list of the stage direction and acting history for John Cromwell (director). I have the source material, and I tried to duplicate the "Filmography" section formatting posted in the article, but I'm getting nowhere in getting it to launch properly. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.--Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:18, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Lord Such&Such - thanks for your post.
Templates are not my strong point, but looking at your recent edit history, I can't see any attempts that you have made, that I can look at, to have some idea of what you are/are not doing, in order to comment. Where can I see an example? and what specific problems are you encountering? - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 20:40, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

I posted it on my own talk page. It's a mess. I tried to duplicate the table that's posted for "Filmography" on the John Cromwell (director) Clearly, I don't know the formatting methods. --Lord Such&Such (talk) 17:42, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your corrections on my talk page. Indeed, it's a table, my misapprehension. I'll get to work on it right away. --Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:11, 18 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Arjayay - I posted the table in question, and its format looks perfect. But any further editing to the John Cromwell (director) article is now blocked. Do you know what the problem is? --Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:13, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

No Lord Such&Such, John Cromwell (director) is not, and never has been, protected.
If you go to the page history, the second line is "View logs for this page (view abuse log)" if you click "View logs for this page" you will see it is totally empty, and this is where semi-protection etc. would show, If you click "(view abuse log)" it just records that someone changed the date of birth on 15 May 2018.
I don't know why you think it is protected? Given your edit count, you could still edit it if it was under "pending changes" or was "semi-protected" in any case - Arjayay (talk) 18:29, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Perhaps I've not made this clear. There is a massive error-like display under "Filmography" in the Cromwell article when I attempt a "show preview" that blocks any of my recent attempts to edit the body of the article. The table the recently posted has something to do with this, but the table looks perfect in the article. I am not aware of any "protection" issue. --Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:42, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Sorry: Just took a second look. Both the tables are gone. Do you know how I can fix the problem?--Lord Such&Such (talk) 18:46, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
Hi Lord Such&Such, when you added the "Victory" section, you didn't close the quotation with a }} which indented all the remaining text and blew the tables. You should have spotted that when previewing your edit before saving it. If you have malformatting problem in the future:-
  1. Find the last problem-free version from the history
  2. Look at the following edit carefully - particularly look for "unbalanced" mark-up e.g. opening brackets of any shape, '' or ''' or anything without an equivalent closing to the mark-up
  3. If you can't find it then re-add part of that addition, and see if that is OK, if so, add more, until the problem arises - you then know the in which part of the addition the problem lies - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 18:56, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

Link to Draft

Hi, my apologies for linking part of a page to a draft. Would you be able to look at the draft, though, and see if it is worthy of placement on the Wikipedia mainspace? For reference- Draft was titled Draft:Mesivta Ateres Yaakov

Thanks Lightuponthenations (talk) 23:42, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi Lightuponthenations, firstly, please note that I am not a new article reviewer.
Secondly, please understand that not everything deserves a Wikipedia article. Mesivta Ateres Yaakov is, by world standards (and Wikipedia is a world-wide encyclopedia), a small school.
Is it truly notable? i.e. has it received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic? If not, it will not be accepted, and No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability.
Finally. please read and follow Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article advice - start by removing the staff-list (the head should be in the infobox) - Good-luck - Arjayay (talk) 08:11, 28 August 2020 (UTC)

Musée des Arts Décoratifs

Hello Arjayay,

I hope you are well. I work for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Recently, my colleagues attempted to upload a new Wikipedia page with detailed information about the museum's history and exhibitions. The article was compiled after several interviews with museum curators who are ultimately responsible for detailing the contents of the museum's collections. Please let me know how we can work together to improve the museum's wikipedia page so that it can be shared with the wider public. Many thanks. 198.55.239.85 (talk) 14:49, 10 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello IP from Norwich, Vermont.
Firstly, could you please explain exactly who you work for:- you state it is the "Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris", but you are in Vermont, so is it really Mostly Prose LLC, or another body?
Whichever it is, you clearly have a WP:Conflict of Interest in editing the article and are also a WP:Paid editor, which requires you to make a legal disclosure statement, before editing Wikipedia any further.
What you appear to be trying to do, is using Wikipedia to publish WP:Original research, i.e. interviews with museum creators, which Wikipedia does not allow.
Wikipedia articles are based on verifiable information that has already been published in reliable sources with a reputation for fact-checking, that are independent of the article subject, not what their website, company, management, employees, PR agents, relatives, friends or anyone else connected to them, in any way, say about them.
IMHO the previous additions, were more akin to a museum catalogue, or advertizement, than an encyclopedia, but if, after making the relevant declarations (all the blue and green words above, are links to the relevant policies and guidelines) , you would like further advice, I suggest you contact Wikipedia:WikiProject Museums - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 18:15, 12 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello Arjayay, Thank you for this information. You are correct that I am currently located in Vermont in the United States. Unfortunately, with the rise of the Coronavirus pandemic I was forced to leave New York City where I typically live and work. I have worked for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs for many years as their English language Editorial Consultant, as there are no native English speakers who work for the Musée des Arts Décoratifs and the Museum's Board of Directors insists that all English language documents be written by a native speaker of said language. I am happy to make any necessary legal disclosures to Wikipedia regarding my employment.

As you can imagine, the Curators of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs are highly educated experts in their particular fields of study and are able to speak without fear of contradiction on the entirety of the contents, collections, history, location, etc, of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, as well as the Musée Nissim de Camondo, which is governed and owned by the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, much of which is detailed in the article in question.

Regarding the current Wikipedia article that is posted (not the article that we are now attempting to post) there are several erroneous statements made about the Museum, including the mention of individuals who are listed as employees who have long since departed the Museum. In fact, we are not even sure who compiled that article and I can assure you, based on the inaccuracy of much of the articles contents, that they had no affiliation with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.

I am happy to contact the Wikipedia:Wiki Project Museums and thank you for your advice and for maintaining the highest standards on Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.55.239.85 (talk) 18:03, 24 August 2020 (UTC)

Hello IP from Norwich, Vermont.
Firstly, can I suggest that you create an account - for the reasons given here - and immediately declare your interest as explained in WP:Paid editor before making any more edits.
You seem to be misunderstanding what I said above, possibly because some of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines are counter-intuitive.
To reiterate - Wikipedia does not publish, or base its articles on, Original research, e.g. interviews with museum creators, however highly educated and knowledgeable they are.
Wikipedia articles are based on verifiable information that has already been published in reliable sources with a reputation for fact-checking, that are independent of the article subject.
As for your comment "we are not even sure who compiled that article .... they had no affiliation with the Musée des Arts Décoratifs", Wikipedia sees that as an advantage - they do not have a Conflict of Interest.

Guwahati

Hi,Arjayay you removed my edits to Guwahati even after I explained why.

What was wrong with my explanation?

Firstly, when adding posts to talk pages, please start a new section (click "Add topic" at the top) and sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp
As for your question, your "reason" is not acceptable within Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. As I explained in my edit summary, Wikipedia is WP:NOTCENSORED. We do not try and hide, or whitewash, facts.
Where a person was born, is a fact, Prek Sbauv includes Pol Pot, Gori, Georgia includes Joseph Stalin, Shaoshan includes Mao Zedong, Braunau am Inn .... etc.
Unlike Nineteen Eighty-Four we do not try to re-write history. Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 09:57, 29 August 2020 (UTC)
