February 2009[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article American jewish world service, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam); and,
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for businesses. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:27, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ajws. You have new messages at Ajws's talk page.

Thank you. I am nervous about having my organization listed if it will not be considered a reputable listing. I think it might be better just to delete the entry entirely - I wouldn't want our page to constantly be having its neutrality disputed. How can I delete the whole page? Or could you do it?Ajws (talk) 20:23, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I can't delete the page. But if you edit the page and delete all the content (leave a blank page), that will be a signal to an administrator that you want the page deleted. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:42, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The recent edit you made to the page American jewish world service constitutes vandalism, and has been reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Cmichael (talk) 20:44, 19 February 2009 (UTC) I previously replied to your message on my talk page but was in a hurry so apparently hit the "preview" button instead of the "save" button or some such foolish mistake. In any event, I see that you intended your edit to be in good faith, and I apologize for thinking you were a vandal. Generally speaking, page blanking will attract vandal patrollers, like me. If you want to delete a page, please use one of the tags at WP:Speedy. Thanks, and again please accept my apologies for acting too quickly. Cmichael (talk) 19:42, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Another editor has now moved your page to American Jewish World Service. Since more than one editor has now been involved with the page, I'm not sure you CAN blank it anymore. You may need to contact an admin for help on this one. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 22:05, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As Dan61 says, since another editor has also edited the article, it is no longer yours to delete ("If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it"). You would have to tag it as "advertisement" or "non-notable organization" for speedy deletion; and such a tag would be subject to challenge. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:37, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list.
