Hello Abdigital74. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Jonathan Glickman, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Abdigital74. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Abdigital74|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Melmann 15:34, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not getting paid to edit his Wikipedia. Jon’s a friend and he didn’t understand why certain things were left off his wikipedia like his new company and new position. He’s been stressed out because everything even his google knowledge panel still says president of mgm studios so I was just trying to help him out, since he tried but isn’t great with technology. At the very least I was hoping to get his position changed to reflect his new company and ceo status. And at most maybe a new page about his company since he has the respect movie coming out soon. If thats against the policy I understand. Again I was just trying to help and insure correct information is on his profile. Abdigital74 (talk) 16:09, 5 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I can't help but notice that the you mentioned in the edit request is created by a company operating under the name of AB Digital. Can you confirm you're not affiliated with or working on behalf of AB Digital? It is evident that there is a monetary relationship between AB Digital and the article subject, therefore, even if you did not receive monetary compensation for specifically editing Wikipedia your professional relationship may still fall under paid editing, broadly construed.
However, paid editing is not prohibited on Wikipedia, failing to disclose it is, so even if you are considered to be a paid editor, you can still help improve the article. However, when you do so, you have to make sure you are aware of the Wikipedia policies on conflict of interest editing and paid editing.
I would suggest you familiarise yourself with following pages: WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:RS and WP:AB. Once you're done, try improving and posting your edit request again. Melmann 00:17, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have an undisclosed financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future. Orange Mike | Talk 06:19, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
