Hi, how are you? I want to translate an article that exists in Dutch into English, is there an easy way to do that? Or do I have to create a new article? Could you walk me through how it works?
Thanks, Andra --AndraM512 (talk) 13:04, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hey! Help:Translation can get you started. You can start by using the Wikipedia:Article wizard to create a blank page, and then you can edit that page. Aaron Liu (talk) 13:21, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
April 24[edit]
You need to read wp:bludgeon. Slatersteven (talk) 13:34, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- I've just responded to one additional chain and you call that bludgeoning? Aaron Liu (talk) 14:19, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, as you are just saying the same thing over and over again, in response (it seems) to every user. Slatersteven (talk) 15:44, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Question from ArthurTheGardener (12:32, 1 May 2024)[edit]
Hello there! I've created an article in my sandbox. Would you mind having a look at it, please? Any thoughts from you would be very welcome. --ArthurTheGardener (talk) 12:32, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'll take a look in a few hours, thanks! Aaron Liu (talk) 12:53, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for this, and for your amendments. I'm not sure what to do now. Am I allowed to post it live, or does it need to be submitted somewhere for approval? ArthurTheGardener (talk) 15:21, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not done reviewing it yet, though I feel like the article would survive if you simply moved it into mainspace. Aaron Liu (talk) 15:23, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you - I wasn't sure what the process was. (And I'm sorry for my impatience - of course I'll wait until you've had time to look at it all!) ArthurTheGardener (talk) 15:25, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Well, technically speaking, the process is just creating the page in main space and hoping it won't be deleted. But, as you've done, it is indeed best practice for new editors to ask someone else to look over their draft. Aaron Liu (talk) 17:14, 1 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you: I appreciate your advice. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 17:16, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

- I have some slight concerns over including the location in the bibliography, but there actually aren't any guidelines on using that parameter. I'd like to see some more actual reviews, but that can always be added after the article is created.
Wouldn't you like to do the honors of moving the article into mainspace? Aaron Liu (talk) 23:32, 1 May 2024 (UTC)- If you think it's ready, then yes, I'd like that. Thanks for all your help. Do I copypaste the code onto the new page, or is there a shortcut, please? ArthurTheGardener (talk) 07:20, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Under "Tools", there should be a "Move" button. Aaron Liu (talk) 10:54, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! ArthurTheGardener (talk) 11:10, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- One more thing (the very last one of this topic, I promise!): I've moved the page, but I'm not sure if I've cleaned up properly afterwards. Would you mind please checking at some point, please, and if necessary, telling me what more I need to do? ArthurTheGardener (talk) 11:24, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- You could find and add some real reviews (preferably reviewers and outlets who have their own article), and write up a WP:DYK blurb before next Tuesday. Aaron Liu (talk) 11:41, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'l certainly try, thank you. And thanks for all your help in this. ArthurTheGardener (talk) 11:46, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- Just one last question, please: I now have a redirect box to the article I put into mainspace in my sandbox. Should I delete this, or is it meant to stay there? ArthurTheGardener (talk) 14:35, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

Howdy Aaron. I'd like to know who wrote a specific line in an article. How can I do that? --ᎤᏁᎦᏓ (talk) 05:46, 2 May 2024 (UTC)
- You've come to the right place! The easiest way would be mw:Who Wrote That?, an intuitive browser extension that only works on articles. Otherwise, under "View history", there's a "Find addition/removal" tool. Note to not hold the edit against that person too much! Aaron Liu (talk) 11:00, 2 May 2024 (UTC)

RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins[edit]
Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:
- Proposals 2 and 9b (phase II discussion): Add a reminder of civility norms at RfA and Require links for claims of specific policy violations
- Proposal 3b (in trial): Make the first two days discussion-only
- Proposal 13 (in trial): Admin elections
- Proposal 14 (implemented): Suffrage requirements
- Proposals 16 and 16c (phase II discussion): Allow the community to initiate recall RfAs and Community recall process based on dewiki
- Proposal 17 (phase II discussion): Have named Admins/crats to monitor infractions
- Proposal 24 (phase II discussion): Provide better mentoring for becoming an admin and the RfA process
- Proposal 25 (implemented): Require nominees to be extended confirmed
See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:08, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
