If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Paisano Grant requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Paisano Grant deletion[edit]

Hi there. I received your email, but prefer to discuss such things on Wikipedia. Yes, your article was deleted. It had very little content, lacked proper sourcing, formatting, and a whole lot of other things necessary for a subject to have its own article. It barely defined the subject, and then had some tangentially related information around it. It really wasn't ready to be out in the public "mainspace". I can restore the article to your rough draft space if you'd like, as maybe it would be possible to work it into an appropriate article.

I don't personally recommend writing articles day one on Wikipedia, there's much to learn and understand about Wikipedia's standards and policies. I recommend you work on improving some existing articles first, to get a better grasp on how an article should be written from scratch. But I can't make you do that. Some points to look into if you continue to pursue things though:

  • The WP:GNG is the basic standard that needs to be met by every article. It basically says that multiple (usually 4-5) reliable sources should discuss the subject in significant detail. (Not passing mentions.) The sources need to be third party as well - the sources shouldn't be coming from the subject of the article itself.
  • Once you've got said sources, you'd want to read WP:REFB to properly cite specific content in the article.
  • Look over things like WP:MOS and WP:WIKILINK on other essential things to add.

Let me know if you'd like me to restore the past article. Please look at submitting it through Wikipedia's "Articles for Creation" process - once you think the article is ready, they can review it and let you know when its ready to published to the public mainspace.
