Information icon Hello, I'm Paris1127. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Devyani Khobragade incident seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Paris1127 (talk) 08:36, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Please don't restore PRODs

I see that you recently restored a PROD tag that had been deleted at Joey Ziolkowski. I understand the instinct, that the user who deleted the PROD hadn't made any case for keeping the article... however, as WP:PROD makes clear, he doesn't have to. PROD is only for uncontroversial deletions, and by deleting the PROD, that user showed that the deletion is controversial. As such, the deletion should not take place without discussion, which is what the Articles for Deletion (AFD) process is for. Feel free to start an AFD on that article if you feel it should be deleted.

(Please note the rules are different for WP:BLPPROD; those can be restored if a reliable source has not been added to the article.) --Nat Gertler (talk) 14:39, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi NatGertler! I understand what you are saying. However, the PROD was placed by Piotrus in the article Joey Ziolkowski explicitly mentioning
"Joey Ziolkowski|concern=The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (biographies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..."
Further, the PROD was reverted by IP 184.81.34.30 whose contributions are dubious. He seems to be related to the person Joey Ziolkowski. CCed on your talk page. Cheers! 7Sidz (talk) 18:57, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
All that doesn't matter. If the PROD is removed, it is being contested, and thus controversial. And Piotrus requesting additional information does not override Wikipedia policy nor create a new one. --Nat Gertler (talk) 20:02, 13 August 2014 (UTC)
Yes, i agree. 7Sidz (talk) 20:04, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

I'll take it to AfD in the second, I agree that a deprodded article should follow the normal procedures. However different rules apply for {{notability}}. As with notification templates, this one follows different rules, and can be restored. The best practice would be for the person restoring it to transfer my prod rationale to the talk as an explanation for it. A technicality/best practice to note for the future. Cheers, --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:05, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

I understand that he (may be) is your grandfather. However, your edit to the article was non-english and that was a major concern (It could well be a case of vandalism!). To preserve the integrity of the article the revert had to be done 7Sidz (talk) 14:02, 30 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I changed the first sentence of "Early Life " of the article from "Han Jae-joong was born on February 4, 1986." to "Han Jae-jun was born on February 4, 1986.' It is because Han Jae-jun (韩在俊)was the original name of the artist before adoption. In order to make the paragraph more meaningful, I will change it to "Han Jae-jun (韩在俊)was born on February 4, 1986.... So his name was changed to Kim Jae-joong (金在中).....

L. piperatus

Hello, I don't quite understand the removal of my edits in the Lactifluus piperatus article. They reflect current systematics and are well referenced, I should say. If the changes that were made reflects the current systematics and everyone agrees (best to take this topic to Article's talk page) the page could be moved. However, singly (without a consensus) changing the name isn't appreciated. 7Sidz (talk) 19:54, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello 7Sidz. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Hello 7Sidz, This is J.R. Council (talk) 19:28, 10 November 2014 (UTC) Jim Council. I am the professor in History and Systems of Psychology at North Dakota State University. The stage-crisis article is an educational project to improve psychology content on Wikipedia, and is being conducted with the blessing and assistance of the Wiki Education Foundation. I've put a banner to that effect up on the article's talk page. Please give me a chance to review the changes and the reasons you reverted the page. I certainly don't want my students to get in wiki wars over their projects. I'm sure we can resolve this issue to everyone's satisfaction. Thanks, Jim J.R. Hello again. Please note that I have a Ph.D. in psychology and have taught psychology for almost 30 years, including developmental psychology. I am familiar with Levinson's theory. I have reviewed the article, and I believe the article as you have reverted it is very sketchy, and definitely a stub that needs improvement. Please be specific as to why you felt it necessary to revert the article, and which rules of Wikipedia it violated. I am sure there is some middle ground which should satisfy all involved. I am also contacting a highly experienced editor for his opinion. Thank you, Jim Council J.R. Council (talk) 19:55, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
Hi there, 7Sidz. I just offering my opinion based on what I see here. James Council is right to express concern; I don't see any explanation for your reversion of the content in question, and looking at the the content itself, I don't see any obvious reason why it is problematic. I've been going over your contributions, and I see that you're working hard to revert vandalism. That's great, thank you for that. Meanwhile, I also noticed that you're going extremely fast, and you are making some sloppy mistakes here and there. I'd like to ask you to take a little more time and care for your edits - and the end result will be much better for it. Kind regards, Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 18:10, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
7Sidz, I'm coming here again because I'm noticing problems in your contributions again. Please be more mindful of your edits. [4] is not correct, [5] gives the wrong reason, [6] gives the wrong reason as well. It's great that you want to be as efficient as possible in helping out, but giving users nonsense warnings for the wrong thing is not OK. Continuing the way you are editing now is not acceptable, and easily avoided if you just take some more time. Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 16:00, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Hello Martijn Hoekstra,
Thank you for the message. I have been doing my bit for the community. Yes, that Scala revert was a mistake from my side. That, I have discovered is one of the downsides of using shortcut keys in Huggle. These days, I am a more cautious and have stopped using the shortcut keys.
As for the nonsense warnings, I had an old version of Huggle which didn't have the warning that were listed. I saw the in built warning once, i had upgraded it. So it might be some issue due to the conflict of old and new version of Huggle. CC'ed on your talk page 7Sidz (talk) 07:27, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Bots

You are receiving this message because a technical change may affect a bot, gadget, or user script you have been using. The breaking change involves API calls. This change has been planned for two years. The WMF will start making this change on 30 June 2015. A partial list of affected bots can be seen here: https://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2015-June/081931.html This includes all bots that are using pywikibot compat. Some of these bots have already been fixed. However, if you write user scripts or operate a bot that uses the API, then you should check your code, to make sure that it will not break.

What, exactly, is breaking? The "default continuation mode" for action=query requests to api.php will be changing to be easier for new coders to use correctly. To find out whether your script or bot may be affected, then search the source code (including any frameworks or libraries) for the string "query-continue". If that is not present, then the script or bot is not affected. In a few cases, the code will be present but not used. In that case, the script or bot will continue working.

This change will be part of 1.26wmf12. It will be deployed to test wikis (including mediawiki.org) on 30 June, to non-Wikipedias (such as Wiktionary) on 1 July, and to all Wikipedias on 2 July 2015.

If your bot or script is receiving the warning about this upcoming change (as seen at https://www.mediawiki.org/w/api.php?action=query&list=allpages ), it's time to fix your code!

Either of the above solutions may be tested immediately, you'll know it works because you stop seeing the warning.

Do you need help with your own bot or script? Ask questions in e-mail on the mediawiki-api or wikitech-l mailing lists. Volunteers at m:Tech or w:en:WP:Village pump (technical) or w:en:Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard may also be able to help you.

Are you using someone else's gadgets or user scripts? Most scripts are not affected. To find out if a script you use needs to be updated, then post a note at the discussion page for the gadget or the talk page of the user who originally made the script. Why are you removing edits without knowing what you're talking about? What kind of fascist are you? --128.97.185.113 (talk) 20:01, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Rephrasing your lines and putting sending it your way (Hopefully, you get it once you get UNBLOCKED if you do) : "Why were you making edits without knowing what you're talking about?" 7Sidz (talk) 10:03, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Nonconstructive edit???????

Why would you revert my edit on the page Neutral Point of View when there was nothing wrong with it?Dark-World25 (talk) 01:55, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Dark-World25 I didn't revert your edit. What I reverted was a genuine piece of vandalism by 166.172.120.68. I advise you should start clicking on "View History" before posting on someone's User talk. 7Sidz (talk) 10:42, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion of Violet Benson declined

Hello. Per the notice you received above, a tag had been placed on Violet Benson requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please note that after review, I have declined the deletion request on the basis that the article has sources in MTV and Vanity Fair that appear to indicate notability; if you don't agree, please take it to WP:AfD!, so you do not need to worry about this article being speedily deleted. Please note that speedy deletion is only one of three deletion processes on Wikipedia; my decline does not prevent users from invoking the separate, longer term deletion methods of proposed deletion or bringing the article to articles for deletion. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Hi Amakuru! I concur that it was a bad call from my side. Thanks! 7Sidz (talk) 08:45, 28 April 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:57, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Thank you for correcting my wrong editions

Hello, 7Sidz. I've been reading Wikipedia's articles since I was a child, but only recently (this year) I made my first edition here; so I know Wikipedia very well, but I still don't know how to edit its articles properly. Thank you for correcting my mistakes on the King James Version page, but now I wish Wikipedia's admins would actually remove (not just undo) every single edition ever made on King James Version by my IP address (179.210.126.201), please. I thought it would be very interesting for the common people to learn about the spellings of the original 1611 KJV in Genesis 1:1-3 and John 3:16, because said verses are already on said Wikipedia's page with the standard spelling of 1769, and later I added these verses above the aforementioned 1769's ones with Fraktur typeface in order to get as close as possible to the original blackletter typeface of the 1611 King James Bible. However, after saving my editions, I immediately realized that I didn't do it properly and then I edited again, again and again, until I saw that I had made a lot of needless editions that shouldn't be there anymore, not even in the "View History" section. So, if the admins can permanently delete all of my editions (as I said, IP address 179.210.126.201), please do this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 179.210.126.201 (talk) 17:37, 6 March 2017 (UTC)
