Controversial topic area alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Eastern Europe or the Balkans. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Yes, User:Newslinger, I don't really have any questions about that, I'm actually not so interested in it. I went to that talk page to clear the air, on what is the minority opinion, and it seems that I probably shouldn't have. I think you, (since you posted the above) and others, now see me as a "Russian sympathizer" of which I am not. I'm not even focused on that issue at all. I know that there are two sides to the issue of the massacre, and only meant to illuminate what the "other" rationale is, which is the minority opinion. I don't think it actually is of any profit to anyone involved, (what I contributed) judging from how I am suddenly being treated by other editors (seemingly mostly moderators and administrators). I even feel like I have made myself kind of a target - so, in any case I am not interested in this massacre, or the justifications of who did it, or why it was done or why it happened. Thanks though, for posting the above, it is certainly informative. 69.112.128.218 (talk) 23:11, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there, the above alert is a standard message that many editors who participate in controversial topic areas receive about once per year, per topic area. As stated in the alert, receiving the message "does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date". New and unregistered editors are generally unaware of the special rules that apply to controversial topic areas on Wikipedia, which is why I am sending this message while welcoming editors who participate in these areas. — Newslinger talk 04:36, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
