From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wikipedia measures and proposals refers to concrete measures and procedures that were either proposed or enacted as established procedures at Wikipedia.

In some cases, these might arise from community discussion; alternately some originate purely as decisions by Wikimedia Foundation, the parent organization for Wikipedia.

Code of Conduct[edit]

In February 2021, Wikimedia announced a new code of conduct that was officially issued as a set of rules for Wikipedia. Wikimedia was sensitive to the fact that in general, any rules at WIkipedia are often non-binding, and also arise from the community of editors, not from the organizational hierarchy. In view of this, Wikimedia was clear about asserting that the purpose of the rules was to empower existing communities of editors within Wikipedia.[1] [2]

Accounts in news publications cited some past occurrences of hostile conduct towards individual editors, and cited this as one important basis for this code of conduct.[1]
