Fictional character biography[edit]

Clarence Boddicker is a career-criminal and wanted for the deaths of over 30 police officers. Near the beginning of the film his gang has just robbed a bank and their vehicle is pursued by officers Alex Murphy and Anne Lewis. Murphy and Lewis tail them to an abandoned factory and begin searching for them; Lewis is shortly knocked unconscious after being attacked by one of the gang members, Joe, and Murphy is surrounded after killing one of the gang, Steve, and attempting to arrest another member, Emil. Boddicker taunts Murphy before knocking him down and blowing his right hand off with a shotgun. Boddicker's men then open fire with shotguns, mutilating Murphy until Boddicker shoots him in the head with a handgun. Lewis regains consciousness and witnesses Murphy's execution, and despite extensive medical treatment he dies shortly after arrival at the hospital.

Boddicker is later seen hired by Dick Jones to kill coworker and rival Bob Morton. Boddicker plays Morton a tape of Jones taunting him while he places an armed grenade on the table and leaves before it detonates. During a cocaine deal, Boddicker and his men attack Murphy, now RoboCop, after Murphy tracked him down. RoboCop beats up Boddicker, who admits to working for Jones at OCP and is subsequently arrested. After RoboCop's failed attempt at arresting Jones, Boddicker is released and hired by Jones to destroy RoboCop and is given advanced military firepower. They track RoboCop down to the factory where Murphy was killed, and despite their firepower are outmached by Murphy and Lewis and all are killed. Boddicker was killed personally by Murphy, who stabbed him in the throat with his data spike after being trapped under steel girders.
