Mainly I copyedit.  I like the eclecticism of choosing articles almost at random from the request list for copyediting.  Favorites include articles that need condensing, and articles about women (including occasionally one I don’t admire).  I like to think of some other sessions as buttressing bridges built by people who are not native speakers of English, the only language I have the skill to write.

I edit only when I lack sufficient energy to work on my day job, which involves researching the interactions of climate and wildland fire.
