About Me[edit]

Hi. I'm Kara – a disabled trans woman from the UK. I am blind and have cerebral palsy. Neither my disabilities or transness define me as a person; they are just something I am

My Pronouns are she/her.

I use a screen reader when doing any computing, specifically NVDA on Windows 10 and VoiceOver on iOS. I prefer to use text-to-speech output rather than a Braille display. I mention this because when I'm reading an article, I usually don't take notice of formatting conventions. I either would have to turn on automatic announcing of formatting changes, which would be tedious to listen to, or use a command to get that info on demand. So I might use regular text when it should be in bold, italicised or whatever. I will try to correct it when I am aware of it though.

My interests include music (both listening and producing), computers, movies, history, languages (although I'm only fluent in English), , books and TV.

Usually I tend to make small edits to articles but intend to get more involved

I would also like to assist in any way I can to make Wikipedia an even more accessible site for screen reader users to both read and edit.

Barnstars[edit]

The Copyeditor's Barnstar
For all the unthanked work you’ve done over the years. Its common for copyeditors to rack up thousands of edits in one "niche" using automated tools, but you've helped in a lot of ways from adding shortdescs to working on categories to reformatting. Thank you. Mach61 (talk) 05:22, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
