Hello. I'm JohnPAllen.

I'm a genalogical surveyist which I know sounds very boring, but isn't actually. I search through the present day peerage, both life-peers and hereditiary and collect information on (with their permission!) for John Debrett (publisher of the 'Debrett's Guides to...'). I also work part-time for Oxford University as a resident historian with special regards to the aristocracy.

My hobbies are shooting, rowing and drinking tea!

I commonly edit articles about the aristocracy, usually updating, or adding new bits of information.

Things that bug me: People who think they know what they are talking about, but actually don't!

From Patrick Cracroft-Brennan, Editor of "Cracroft's Peerage"[edit]

I should perhaps mention that John Debrett, the eponymous founder of "Debrett's Peerage", died in 1822. The business he founded eventually became Debrett's Peerage Limited, which publishes not only the well known peerage reference work but also the series of "Debrett's Guides to.....". I am not sure who Mr Allen is working for, but it certainly is not the late John Debrett!
