Suzy Williams American singer and songwriter born September 7, 1954 in Oakland, California. In the 1970's lived in Boston MA, traveling the Eastern seaboard with Norman Zamcheck in Stormin' Norman & Suzy. Currently performing with Steve Weisberg and others in Los Angeles California.


Early life: 1954 to 1970[edit]

Born in Oakland, California, her parents divorced when she was 6 years old. She spent her childhood with her mothers and sisters in the rural Northern California valley town of Gridley. At the age of 18 she hitchhiked? to Boston to see her father David P. Williams.

Early career Boston years: 1970–1978[edit]

Suzy began singing in Boston in 1972 with Norman Zamcheck, performing from southern New Jersey through Portland Maine including islands off the coast of Massachusetts and Maine. Her first record Fantasy Rag was released in 1975. Polydor Records released the Stormin' Norman and Suzy recording Oceans of Love in 1978.[1] She married Bill Burnett, then of Long Tall Sally, in Pittsfield MA in 1977.

Mid career New York years: 1978–1993[edit]

Ms. Williams opened for Manhattan Transfer at Carnegie Hall in (year?). In (year?) she and Burnett relocated to the West Village in New York. In New York she worked independently as Suzy Williams with a full band performing at the Bottom Line, Tramps (many other venue - names?) and with Buster Poindexter, Van Dyke Parks, Mark Shaiman and Nicholas Ray. Her performance with Moses Pendleton's Pilobolus dance troupe in the 1970's highlighted her signature performance gestures.

Los Angeles years: 1993–present[edit]

In 1995 Williams relocated to Hollywood California with her husband Bill Burnett. In 2001 Williams married Gerald Fialka and presently lives in Venice California. In Los Angeles she has performed as a duo with accordionist Nick Arionda, pianist Brad Kay, Suzy's Solid Senders, The Boners and The Back Boners and Steve Weisberg. Recently songwriting has become a more important part of Ms. Williams' work. The Lit Show and Enjoy The Ride are her most recent albums.
