They Reach is an upcoming independent feature film directed by Silas Dall and written by both Dall and Bry Troyer. The film stars Mary Madaline Roe, Morgan Chandler and Eden Campbell. Set in the late 1970s, They Reach is the story of a 13-year-old girl who unknowingly unleashes a demonic entity while scavenging parts for a school science fair.

"In 1979, a young girl stumbles upon a possessed tape player. She unknowingly unleashes a demonic entity that haunts her family while slowly dragging the small town of Clarkston to Hell."

Development[edit]

Noting that he is "a sucker for the '70s," 31-year-old screenwriter/director Sylas Dall states that he grew up on older films, such as The Fog, Poltergeist and The Goonies[1]

The film's funding began through the American crowdfunding site Indiegogo, having raised US$14,680 from 100 backers as of Nov 20, 2017[2]

Casting[edit]

The cast is almost entirely volunteer cast and crew residing in Washington.

Filming[edit]

Filming took place in various locations around Washington state; Tacoma, Olympia, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Yelm, Bonney Lake, Spanaway and a few other places. Principal photography was completed in 2019 with exception of a few special effects.

The trailer for They Reach was released on YouTube ahead of its trailer premiere at Ace Comic Con in Chicago, IL.[3]

The film is due to be submitted to various film festivals for 2020, and Dall will be seeking a general release after finding a distributor.
