Robert Earl Carter (July 5, 1946-present) American Photojournalist/Photographer/Author, best known for work covering Southern Appalachian Region of United States. Born and raised in Kingsport, Tennessee, but also lived in West Palm Beach, Florida and Huntsville, Alabama. Currently resides in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Carter was married to Gloria Jean Carter 1967-1983 and Susan Cross 1992-2001. He has four children.
