Ja²f is a Scottish alternative rockband founded in Glasgow, Scotland in 2009. The original lineup consisted of drummer and lead vocalist Adi Sajwan, lead guitarist Josh Millan, rhythm guitarist Euan Duffy, keyboardist Aaron Stone, and bassist James Walker. Duffy left shortly after formation, while Sajwan left in 2013 after a royalty dispute, before returning two weeks later. They released their eponymous debut album in 2012, featuring the underground hits Bombay ("What Do You Say?") and Hunting Party. The band broke up shortly after the release of their third album, Largo, over creative differences.

Formation[edit]
Ja²f evolved from a duo consisting of Aaron Stone on keyboard and Josh Millan on lead guitar. In early 2009 this expanded into the full band including Adi Sajwan on drums and lead vocals, Euan Duffy on rhythm guitar, and James Walker on bass. Duffy left shortly afterwards, citing creative differences. It was at this time that the band wrote what would become their first hit single "Bombay ("What Do You Say?")". Over the next year they would perform in school talent shows until they advanced onto the Glasgow indie scene in 2010.
At Their Height[edit]
In mid 2012 Ja²f began recording their eponymous debut album, released in November of that year. It quickly became an underground hit, especially the singles "Bombay ("What Do You Say?")", "Hunting Party", and "Stab It, Twist It, Leave It In". Sajwan left in early 2013 after disputes over royalties, although he returned two weeks later. The band continued to tour and released their second studio album, "Have You Tried Turning It Off And On Again?" in 2015.
Breakup[edit]
The band returned to the studio to record their third album, "Largo", but disputes quickly arose over the direction the album would take. Sajwan wished to use an EDM style, while Millan prefered a style akin to that of Cradle of Filth. They eventually compromised on a sound similar to that of their previous albums, although it lacked their earlier passion. After its release, both Sajwan and Millan announced that they were leaving the band.
Aftermath[edit]
Stone and Walker tried to continue the band, but parted ways after three days. Walker was quoted as saying that it was "impossible to work with [Stone], he's a bit slow". Millan went on to start a successful solo career, releasing a hit album Brown Fat. Sajwan disappeared from the music scene, and later found traction as a freelance hentai artist.
