McBackpack is a charitable organization based in Fort Collins, CO. The organization provides students and families experiencing food insecurity with supplemental food support on the weekends. ^[3]

History[edit]

McBackpack started in 2007 through a group of Fort Collins residents with interest in helping with food insecurity in the Poudre School District. The organization worked with the district to get the number of students in specific schools that needed food support while keeping students anonymous.

As the need grew the founder spoke with members of the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Collins, CO. A small number of congregation members joined the cause. This partnership gave the McBackpack organization a physical space to use for packing food bags requested by schools in the Poudre School District.

In 2014 McBackpack incorporated into a 501(c)(3) organization. <ref>

Services[edit]

Currently volunteers pack around 400 food bags a week.
