  • Article created 3 February is new enough and long enough, well cited, neutrally written, and no copyvio found. Hook is ingeniously twisted, and the fact that the Kaiser fell in love with the yacht and bought her has a good online source. QPQ done. Ready to go. Moonraker (talk) 13:25, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
I'm not at all keen on this hook. I think we should just state the facts, not play games with the readership like this. Gatoclass (talk) 18:54, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT1 ... that Kaiser Wilhelm II was so charmed with the American yacht Yampa (pictured) that he took possession of her for himself and had another larger yacht built in America based on her design?
Source 1 - Scientific American, Volume 86 (1902), page 141 The Emperor was so well pleased with the “Iduna” that last fall he placed an order with these architects for the construction of a larger and faster yacht, which should embody the best features of the Yampa
Source 2 - Stephens, W.P. (1902). Bigelow. The yachting Outlook, page 121 The noble schooner yacht, Meteor III., just launched at Shooters' Island, in Newark Bay, is the legitimate outcome of a practical study of the American schooner, begun by Mr. Smith in Prospero as long ago as 1877. She is largely a bigger and finer edition of the ocean cruiser Yampa

@Gatoclass: Propose ALT1 --Doug Coldwell (talk) 22:08, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
  • ALT1 looks fine to me Doug (except that Yampa should be in italics) but If you don't mind I am going to pass on the verification right now because I don't feel up to it. If somebody else wants to verify it in the meantime that's fine by me, otherwise I will return to verify it tomorrow. Gatoclass (talk) 23:31, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
  • Before I take this review any further Doug, it appears to me from the provided sources that the Emperor had only one additional American yacht built after the design of the Yampa, which was the Meteor (or Meteor III), so I think the article would need to be adjusted to reflect that. Also, the article needs a ship infobox. Gatoclass (talk) 04:15, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
  • @Gatoclass: Article copy edited to show one other yacht built for the emperor and ship infobox added. Will that work?--Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:42, 13 February 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Doug, but why have you used the Americas Cup Yacht infobox? AFAICT this was not an Americas Cup yacht, shouldn't you have just used the normal sailing yacht infobox? Gatoclass (talk) 11:38, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
@Gatoclass: I'll be the first to admit I am not that familiar with the America's Cup, however I did find some references that relate Yampa to America's Cup. That is the last line of the first paragraph under History. Based on those references is why I used that particular infobox.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 11:51, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Actually, it doesn't matter Doug, I discovered that one of the infoboxes just redirects to the other anyhow. I will wrap this review up either later tonight or tomorrow - sorry about the previous delays, there has been a ton of wikidrama to get distracted by over the last couple of weeks. Gatoclass (talk) 11:57, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
O.K. Thanks for looking into this.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 12:02, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
Also Doug, I'm not sure why you didn't add the image to this nomination as it's a very nice high-res image from the Library of Congress, I think it would be worth adding here. Gatoclass (talk) 12:13, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
@Gatoclass: Thanks for idea = I'll do that after breakfast.--Doug Coldwell (talk) 12:18, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
  • I've given this nomination a pretty thorough check and it's already been checked by Moonraker, so I think it should be fine now. Though the article is shortish, this yacht clearly had a quite interesting history, and the image is high resolution, so I think this would make a suitable lead article. Thank you for your patience and co-operation Doug. Gatoclass (talk) 10:27, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
