QPQ done. New enough and long enough. Paraphrasing generally not a concern other than the following: source: "decided to forego his senior season and make himself available for the April draft" Wikipedia article: "he decided to forego his senior year to enter the 2016 NFL draft". Most importantly however, I am a little confused about the hook, it doesn't make sense to me. The line in the article, which is almost the same, similarly has an unclear meaning. So I went to the source, which states "Biggins, who has been covering recruiting for 17 years, says he can't remember the last high-profile recruit of Asian descent." This could be paraphrased to something like: Biggins can't remember a high-profile recruit of Asian descent before Thomas Duarte – but this is not a worthwhile fact! Pop Warner football, which is connected to your ALT1 hook, has been blanked for a copyvio investigation, so I am not in a position to sign off on either of these hooks right now. - @Cloudz679: Thanks for the review. I am not sure what is your familiarity with American football, but this might be one of those cases when the source presumes some background knowledge. I'll try to bridge that gap. In the source, immediately following the quote you mentioned, Biggins is quoted: ""You don't see a lot of them," Biggins said. "You don't see them that big. When you see a guy like that, you're like, 'Wow. He's definitely a rarity.'" Them in this case refers to the previous statement about "high-profile recruit of Asian descent". For additional background, Asian-American players are not prominent in the major sports in the United States. In this source, it compares Durate to Asian-American basketball player Jeremy Lin: "Like Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin, Duarte has excelled in a sport not known for broad success for Asian players." - ok I get it, approve the main hook. I think the prose in the article should be tightened though, as "the rare high-profile college recruit" suggests the only one, whereas you and the hook seem to be saying rare but not absolutely unique. C679 12:33, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
- Rare means not occurring very often, which does not imply he was the only one. I don't see it as a problem, but am open if you have an alternative in mind. Also, was this issue tied to your approval of this DYK, as you did not place {{DYKtick}} next to your comment though you wrote "approve the main hook".
