The Yankee

  • ... that John Neal vindicated himself with The Yankee? Source: this book says on page 112 "As editor ... [Neal's] true reward was in earning back his place of acceptance in his hometown. Early issues, therefore, contain a good deal of self-vindication".
    • ALT1:... that "the very first words of encouragement [Poe] ever remember[ed] to have heard" were in The Yankee? Source: this book says on page 114 "[Edgar Allan Poe] seized on Neal's words regarding the possibilities of his writing a beautiful and perhaps magnificent poem, calling them 'the very first words of encouragement I ever remember to have heard'".
    • ALT2:... that "the very first words of encouragement [Edgar Allan Poe] ever remember[ed] to have heard" were in The Yankee? • Review follows shortly - as a non-yank I prefer ALT1 as never heard of John Neal. Also old fashioned language is nice to read. Suggest use Poe's full name as (in UK at least) he is known as that by the general public. Chidgk1 (talk) 08:51, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Checked no copyvio, checked number previous DYK - no need for QPQ (you can keep it for next time if you want but perhaps you enjoy reviewing a lot - if so please give Electricity sector in Turkey a good perusal) obviously long and new enough, I don't have the book so taking quote on trust, OK everything fine - I leave it to you to choose between ALT1 and ALT2 Chidgk1 (talk) 09:49, 3 July 2021 (UTC)

Let's go with ALT2. Thanks for reviewing! Looks like the nomination is all set. Dugan Murphy (talk) 23:05, 3 July 2021 (UTC)
Chidgk1, the "agree" ticks are not a valid icon for DYK reviews. If you have completed your review, please use one of the icons listed in the body of your review that are shown in the table just above the edit window when you're editing a nomination page like this one. Many thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:33, 4 July 2021 (UTC)
