The Fuccons

  • ... that The Fuccons originated as a series of shorts in the sketch comedy show Vermilion Pleasure Night? Source: Wired (link): "The Japanese equivalent to Adult Swim is a variety show called Vermillion Pleasure Night, and one of its standout serials is called Oh, Mikey! (English versions call it The Fuccons.)"
    • ALT1:... that The Fuccons stars a cast consisting of only mannequins? Source: Wired (link): "The stars of this sitcom are entirely plastic - as in meticulously posed, injection-molded models."
  • Comment: I expanded the article recently. The original creator of the article is an IP user so I'm not sure how to credit that person. This is my first time nominating an article for DYK; I've expanded articles and brought them up to Good in the past but missed out on chances to nominate them.

5x expanded by Lullabying (talk). Self-nominated at 04:13, 23 August 2020 (UTC).

  • Full review to follow, but can you first confirm if a 5x expansion has been accomplished? DYKcheck claims that the article hasn't received a 5x expansion, although I suspect the fact that the pre-expansion version included unbulleted lists may have to do with it. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 11:17, 28 August 2020 (UTC)
  • I did a manual word count check using Wordcounter.net and tried tests which both included and excluded the character lists in both revisions (although for the purposes of counting I omitted the episode lists as it was supposed to be a table or bullet list), but it seems that no 5x expansion has actually been accomplished. The original revision linked here when excluding the episode and character lists had approximately 1,590 characters, and over 5,670 characters when including the character list. Meanwhile, the expanded version only goes up to over 5,660 characters when excluding the character list, and over 7,950 characters when including the character list. I'm requesting the assistance of Nikkimaria to double-check these figures (as my checking included the footnotes, which made the actual numbers higher; I mentioned lower estimates here to get around this), but as far as I can tell the article still needs some more expansion to get to the 5x requirement. The review is to follow once the expansion issues have been clarified.Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:38, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
  • Yep, sorry, not seeing a 5x expansion there. Nikkimaria (talk) 12:47, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
  • I'm not sure if it would count if it was moved back, except for the episode summaries which I don't think would be included in the count. Pinging Nikkimaria again for a second opinion. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:51, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
  • No, if it was originally in this article it wouldn't count as new if it were moved back. Nikkimaria (talk) 12:00, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Noted. Lullabying Will you be able to expand the article further to meet the 5x expansion requirement? If not, the nomination will be closed as unsuccessful. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 07:01, 2 September 2020 (UTC)
  • How much further should I expand to meet the requirement? lullabying (talk) 02:58, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Got it. I'll try my best. lullabying (talk) 19:40, 11 September 2020 (UTC)
  • The article as it stands today is at 10254 characters (1625 words). This is about 1100 characters short of a 5x expansion. I say we let this one go through for DYK. --evrik (talk) 15:28, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
  • --evrik (talk) 15:28, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
    • Thank you! I managed to expand it even more to meet the 1100 characters limit. lullabying (talk) 20:42, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
  • The final approval is pending Nikkimaria or another editor verifying if the 5x requirement has now been met, but the other major article requirements (close paraphrasing, citing, image licensing, etc.) have been accomplished. As this is the nominator's first nomination, no QPQ is required. I would suggest not going with ALT0 due to the other show mentioned perhaps not being that famous. My preference is for ALT1, which is cited inline and verified. As a possible alternative hook, a hook about how the series was inspired by the facial expressions in an advertisement could also be proposed here. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:01, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
  • It's currently about 750 characters short of 5x. Nikkimaria (talk) 13:01, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
  • @Nikkimaria: I was able to find more sources; checking for expansion now. lullabying (talk) 21:19, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Currently about 275 short. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:13, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
  • @Nikkimaria: Thank you! During this time I managed to find more articles about production and have added them. Please check if you have time! lullabying (talk) 01:13, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. @Narutolovehinata5: I'm fine with going with ALT1 as a hook. lullabying (talk) 22:17, 21 September 2020 (UTC)
ALT1 GTG. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 01:07, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but the chart of episodes needs some kind of cite. Where did you find all this information? Yoninah (talk) 19:05, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • I looked there and also saw no cites on the charts. Please add one or more to the chart in this article. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:25, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • I added citations to the chart but they are not displaying on the main article. lullabying (talk) 19:48, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
  • Thank you. Restoring tick for ALT1. Yoninah (talk) 20:02, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
