Oscar Collett, Norwegian Ornithological Society (1920–1935)[edit]

Created by Geschichte (talk). Nominated by Oceanh (talk) at 22:57, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

The article Oscar Collett is just short of 1500 characters of readable prose. The other claim in the hook not supported by the second article - nowhere in the text does it say that this society was indeed the first Norway's ornithological society. — Yerpo Eh? 07:59, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for the review. I have suggested an alternative hook below, without the term "first". I also notice that the Oscar Collett article has been expanded by the creator (currently about 1,690 characters of prose). Oceanh (talk) 21:20, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Length is now ok, and ALT is accurate, but now the hook is even less interesting than before. The main page visitors simply won't know why is that noteworthy. I suggest something like ALT2 below to spice things up at least a bit:
ALT2 ... that the Norvegian landowner Oscar Collett was the single largest benefactor of the old Norwegian Ornithological Society's academic journal?
Putting "old" in front of the society's name was the only idea I had on how to incorporate the fact that there exists another such society now. Might be good if somebody could propose something better. — Yerpo Eh? 06:44, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
PS: the society's article needs copyediting because there are a couple of awkward passages. I'd rather not touch it - I don't want to inadvertedly change the meaning, because I don't understand the references. — Yerpo Eh? 07:26, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
I did a minor copyedit (two fixes) to the society article (Norwegian Ornithological Society (1920–1935)). Thank you for supplying ALT2, which is more interesting than my ALT1. Oceanh (talk) 19:08, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
ALT2 good to go, as far as I'm concerned. Foreign-language reference for the hook accepted in good faith. — Yerpo Eh? 08:55, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
