Le Tombeau de Couperin (ballet)

5x expanded by Corachow (talk). Self-nominated at 11:02, 24 March 2022 (UTC).

Interesting ballet, on fine sources, no copyvio obvious. I am not happy with the hooks, and prefer the idea of the ALT, but can you say what it is without saying what it is not (as the lead does)? I think Ravel should be mentioned, as it was for his festival - only 5 letters, let's not expect people to know. - The sentence about the lighting needs some fix. "Among the music he would use for new ballets are Le Tombeau de Couperin." Why "are" when it's only one, and why such a complicated construction? - Suggestions: mention that it's an orchestral piece, after we had the Goldberg Variations. Why "score" anyway? - "a great composer" - that's such a common thing to say that I don't believe it needs quotation marks, but perhaps doesn't even need to be mentioned? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:40, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
I addressed the few things for the article. Replaced the "great composer" part for a longer quote. It was part of his description for another ballet but that quote was about the festival in general. Alternatively, there's also this quote: "His 'Spanish' music is greater than De Falla's and Granados's. You have to bow to people like that" though I like this one less. A new hook attached below:
ALT1a: ... that in George Balanchine's ballet Le Tombeau de Couperin, to Ravel's orchestral music, the dancers are divided into two groups, dancing separately? Corachow (talk) 00:38, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
with thanks --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:11, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
@Corachow and Gerda Arendt: for both this hook and The Goldberg Variations (ballet) (nom), do keep in mind that the correct grammatical form for something like "John Green's book The Anthropocene Reviewed" would be "John Green's book, The Anthropocene Reviewed, ..." the commas are parenthetical. could the hooks be restructured to follow or avoid? theleekycauldron (talkcontribs) (she/they) 08:16, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
(but only in American English, but - sigh - that's what we have here.

I'm fine with this change, thanks Gerda. Corachow (talk) 12:22, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
