  • Article is new enough, and long enough (1593 characters). Serial Number 54129 There are issues with sourcing and the hooks though. I can't find the claim in the first hook in the source provided, either here or in the article (which is a problem for the article as well). The second hook is awkwardly worded, and should be: ...that actor Tom Hanks has described the Hermes 3000 (pictured) as the "Cadillac of typewriters"? (as this is what he actually said). Cadillac must also be capitalised as it is a proper noun. This hook is properly sourced though. If the source issue for the first hook is fixed, it could be used, and if the second hook is reworded, it could be used (provided that the sourcing issue for the first hook is also fixed in the article as well). Note that I don't think that the image is particularly interesting, so unless we need an imaged hook, this could easily just be put up without the image (the image does appear to be free though).
Completed as QPQ for Template:Did you know nominations/Falcon 9 booster B1050. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 11:53, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Pinging Hamster Sandwich and Ritchie333 as primary contacts. Also, it isn't clear if QPQ has been completed or not. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 11:56, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
@Insertcleverphrasehere: He did not. He described the Hermes range as "the Cadillac of typewriters"; therefore this particular model is "a Cadillac", not the Cadillac. Thanks for pinging the two others though; FYI the QPQ is done like wot is sez up ther :p Take care! ——SerialNumber54129 12:00, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
And the image should stay; it is iconic. ——SerialNumber54129 12:02, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Serial Number 54129 so it is, sorry for missing that (I was expecting it to be below the 'comments' for some reason, sorry). I'm not particularly happy with hook 2 in that case as it really isn't about the Hermes 3000 specifically. Any progress finding a good source for hook 1 instead? No further opinions on the image as I'm not an expert on typewriters. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 12:05, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
@Insertcleverphrasehere: classic  :) tbh, neither am I. Although I suppose it is iconic...to those that do know about typewriters! Yes, I thought the first hook would be better; don't you like the source, though? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Serial Number 54129 (talkcontribs)
Ritchie333 Sorry about the QPQ confusion totally my fault. Perhaps I should be more specific regarding the hook 1 source. I can't find reference to Jack Kerouac or Vanity of Duluoz in the source provided (The New York Times). Perhaps I am just missing it somehow? The only thing about the Hermes 300 in it seems to be "The mint green Hermes 3000 typewriter on which Ms. Plath wrote “The Bell Jar” fetched $46,071 (also from an anonymous buyer). Her husband’s Silver Reed 500 typewriter sold for $4,977." — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 12:32, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Ugh. I've corrected the Kerouac refs to wot they waz originally meant to be... ——SerialNumber54129 12:42, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
I left a couple of alternates on the talk page, if anyone is interested. Hamster Sandwich (talk) 12:34, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Hamster Sandwich, I moved these to this page to make things simpler. I particularly like the ALT3 hook as being particularly hooky; it doesn't explicitly say it is a typewriter, begging the reader to look more to find out what it is (the photo will explain obviously). I like both of these alt hooks better than the primary or ALT1. Good work. Sourcing issue is fixed for Hook 1, so either that or either of ALT2 or ALT3 look good to me (prefer ALT3 personally). Not a fan of the ALT 1 hook, as it implies that Hanks was talking specifically about the Hermes 3000 when he was not, and fails to deliver the common vernacular of "the Cadillac of ...". Ping Serial Number 54129, and Ritchie333. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 12:59, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Very cool. I'm afraid I didn't read the quote closely enough to know Hanks was talking about the whole range of Hermes machines. Overly zealous reading, I guess. Thanks!Hamster Sandwich (talk) 13:15, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
@Insertcleverphrasehere: There are currently two ALT1s and no ALT2. Qu'est-ce qu'on a pas écrit?! ——SerialNumber54129 13:03, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Fixed. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 13:04, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
