I found this article about a band in Iowa City in 2001, called "The Vida Blue" - http://www.stylusmagazine.com/reviews/vida-blue/the-comprehensive-list-of-anyone-who.htm - confirming part of the claim in this article that the name was purchased from an Iowa City band for $10,000. I've also found comments on a punk blog where an anonymous user is saying that the name changed to Ten Grand as a result of the purchase - http://www.punknews.org/article/6797 - but I'm not sure this is really a strong enough source for wikipedia... though I imagine it's true, it could still just be internet folklore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cymbop (talk • contribs) 18:11, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I found an additional link, and a way to re-word this from a neutral perspective. Rewrote article and cited on 7/23/11 Cymbop (talk) 20:39, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
