Actually, the USS Kittywake collided with the Bergall. The Bergall was moored.

I was a crew member at the time. I remember it vividly. It was during the noon meal. I sat with my crewmates in the crew's mess when the boat abrubtly began to shudder. Everyone stopped eating and looked around, fully expecting the collision alarm to sound. It didn't. So everyone started eating again. It was a bit humorous. Several minutes later the collision alarm was sounded.

As I recall, the Bergall was moored with her stern toward the end of the pier. The Kittywake was moored in front of us, with her stern toward us, and was getting underway. I don't recall exactly what happened, but the Kittywake's screw ended up striking our bow. 128.186.111.146 18:31, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
