GA Review[edit]

  • References needed:
    • "Similar provisions were made for Drusus."
    • "Tiberius had found himself married to a woman he loathed, who publicly humiliated him with nighttime escapades in the Forum, and forbidden to see the woman he had loved."
    • "Thus, when in AD 13, the powers held by Tiberius ..."
    • "These proceedings are fully accounted by Tacitus..."
    • "when three Roman legions and its auxiliary cohorts had been ambushed by a band of Germans...."
    • "Those who stood in his way were tried for treason and swiftly dealt with."
    • "While sensationalized, the stories at least paint a picture of how Tiberius was perceived by the Roman people, and what his impact on the Principate was during his 23 years of rule."
I don't know if this is OR. I believe it is a conclusion of the entire paragraph and I am not sure why it would require a ref. Nergaal (talk) 02:15, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it's a conclusion then I recommend placing the references that the sentence concludes, at the end of the sentence. Gary King (talk) 02:18, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But the paragraph has separate refs for separate issues. How would bunching them at the end of the paragraph help? Nergaal (talk) 02:30, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's out. Gary King (talk) 02:38, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • "Tiberius’s downfall was not his abuse of power but ..."
    • " Gospels" section
      there are 3 already.
Seem to be OR: "Many references to Caesar (or the emperor in some other translations), without further specification, actually refer to Tiberius." and "is popularly thought to be a silver denarius coin of Tiberius." Gary King (talk) 02:18, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
    • "Tiberius has been represented several times in fiction, "
nope; a list follows Nergaal (talk) 02:19, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Precisely; every item in that list requires a reference. Gary King (talk) 02:28, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • WikiSource is not a reliable source as it is a wiki

Gary King (talk) 05:52, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yee, after a bunch of days with no reviews I am getting 4+ in 10 mins. I'll work on these in the next few days. About the wikisource, it is only meant to show the text. The information is taken from the book and it is simply linked to ws. Nergaal (talk) 06:04, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Though it is curious how you only review articles I've submitted. Nergaal (talk) 06:14, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

bump! Nergaal (talk) 08:09, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge this short paragraph somewhere: "Augustus died in AD 14, at the age of seventy-six." and "In the video game series Command and Conquer,"
  • References:
    • "Germanicus had managed to deal a significant blow to Rome's enemies, quell an uprising of troops, and once again return lost standards to Rome, actions that increased the fame and legend of the already very popular Germanicus with the Roman people."
  • remove periods from image captions that are not full sentences such as "Publius Cornelius Tacitus." → "Publius Cornelius Tacitus"
  • some of the references used such as IMDB are not reliable and must be replaced. How is http://www.giantbomb.com/tiberium/93-22/ reliable?
The IMDB one is used to show a broad list of his depictions. It is not trying to depict a disputable statement, and as such I don't know why it can't be used as a database for a minilist. Again, this is a GAN! As for the last one, it is referencing a statement that is not essential and I could hide it. But I thought is a neat enough trivia to be kept-even though I couldn't find a more reliable source explicitly supporting the statement. Nergaal (talk) 22:28, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I went through several times now; am I still missing anything? Nergaal (talk) 06:36, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm. Tacitus on Wikisource. I do have a rather tattered book before me which can be used as a reference for Annals I. 7-15, if the primary source does not suit. It is from 1970 though... pages 70 - 77 of the Harper & Row edition for the accession of Tiberius... just if anyone is interested...
