EEng: How come you consider who shot and directed the music video irrelevant? It is a legitimate part of the music video description, which pertains directly to the song.--Launchballer 20:38, 7 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Untitled[edit]

Here's what I removed:
It was filmed at Farmland Studios in Nashville,[8] directed by Will Holland,[8] and shot by Holland and Ryan Kendrick.
The article is about the song. The video itself is an adjunct to the song worth describing because, perhaps, it conveys some of the spirit of the song, as good music videos do. But where it was filmed (which I think we're already told was a bandmember's home -- so "Farmland studios" is just a fancy way of saying that), and who directed it (as far as I can see, a musician who sometimes directs music videos), and who shot it (a band member and some guy who sometimes shoots music videos) doesn't, that I can see, add to the reader's understanding of "Thunder Clatter". It's more like fancruft. Had Steven Sondheim directed it, or the guy who directs, I dunno, Madonna's music videos (if she even makes them anymore), or it had been filmed at Graceland instead of Farmland, that might be different. Or if one of the sources had said, "Director X's style is so clearly evident in... and Person Who Shot It Y shows real creativity in..." that also might be worth noting.
BTW, there's a redirect from Farmland Studios back to Wild Cub, but Wild Cub doesn't say anything about it. Normally I'd say that the Wild Cub article needs to explain what Farmland Studios is, but if as I believe I recall that's just a bandmember's fond name for the recording room in his home, and no one else calls it Farmland Studios, then the redirect should be dropped. It certainly shouldn't be a link from the video paragraph which the reader thinks will take him to some exciting article, only to find he's being redirected back to Wild Cub. This further illustrates why "filmed where and by whom" doesn't really belong at all.
As I've said before I hope this doesn't seem harsh and perhaps BlueMoonset will set me straight if I've gone overboard.
You were right about the lead being a bit to blunt and you've fixed it well.

I see. A reason I objected: its removal took it below 1,500 characters, though I have now rectified that.--Launchballer 16:14, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ryan Kendrick redirect[edit]

For EEng and Launchballer: why does the page "Ryan Kendrick" redirect here? I understand that this is the name of one of the cameramen for the song's music video, but that does not qualify a redirect. I have no idea who the cameraman is, and only figured out the reason for this redirect by reading the description on the YouTube video. I think the "Ryan Kendrick" page should be deleted. -- MisterMorton (talk) 07:50, 7 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
