Sourcing concerns[edit]

I'm concerned about the sources used in this article: although the article superficially appears well sourced there are quite significant problems. Of the seven sources used, four are articles written by Loftus, one of the two parties to the underlying dispute. Another is by Tavris, described as a "longtime friend" of Loftus [1]. Yet another is a primary source. This seems to me to be quite inappropriate for an article which is in essence a BLP. I would be grateful for any thoughts on these points. This is a legal article, primary sources are not only acceptable, but are encouraged (along, of course, with secondary sources), see WP:MOSLAW. It needs work though. GregJackP Boomer! 15:33, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Part of the problem is that although this is supposed to be a legal article almost the entire content (before our intervention) was written by a single author, a psychology student, who created it as part of a class assignment. I also reformated the refs. I'm not sure what style they were in, so I used Bluebook since this is a legal article. I may do some additional work on the article. GregJackP Boomer! 18:59, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. My most serious remaining concerns are with the two final sections, which (1) seem to be full of SYNTH, and (2) present opinions of Loftus as facts. My personal inclination would just be to delete them, but given your obviously greater familarity with legal articles you probably have a much better idea than I do what is acceptable here. No, I agree with you, the last two sections are OR, so I deleted them. I've found some good sources, and will rework the article. I'll probably gut and rebuild quite a bit. Bear with me - it may take a bit. GregJackP Boomer! 23:23, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
