Another Székely day[edit]

Borsoka and KIENGIR, I've heard there's a "Day of Székely Autonomy" on November I think. Is this true? Should this article be rewritten so it doesn't seem like it's the only Székely holiday? Super Ψ Dro 12:04, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Super Dromaeosaurus,
on the last Sunday of October is the day you discuss about, which is a symbolic lightning fires in order to emphazise the importance of the issue, it has zero connection to the Székely Freedom Day, which is held regularly on 10 March. So the article should not be rewritten.(KIENGIR (talk) 13:21, 12 March 2021 (UTC))[reply]
Is that day notable enough as to have an article? Super Ψ Dro 13:38, 12 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I think memorial days of ethnic groups are notable. Borsoka (talk) 06:33, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Borsoka and KIENGIR, sorry to bother again, can the Hungarian name be typed in upper case (Székely Szabadság Napja)? Super Ψ Dro 11:35, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
While many Hungarians do use upper case in cases like this, it is not correct do so according to formal rules (unless the situation has changed since I studied the language). Unless it has changed, I also like to point out that it is not done in the Hungarian article on the matter either. With that in mind, it would be interesting to see a source backing the upper case version up (if circumstances really have changed). Åttiotrean 226 11:50, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Super Dromaeosaurus,
feel free to ping me or ask anything anytime, I am very happy to work together with good faith, constructive editors! It's true in the Hungarian language uppercase and lower case differ in many cases contrary to other languages, in this case maybe purely that would be correct ([1]) <- original declaration, ([2]), as the nominator suggest, however at other place they as well don't care ([3]), and a quick research on various articles/official community sites they are varying...hard to make a final judgement here...I have also a question (maybe I already asked somewhere else), you inserted "public holiday",is it really? Since I don't think officially it would be a Romanian public holiday (once we clarified this), may be it is organized at Judeţean level (since locally people seem not to go to work but taking part of orgnaized events likely...)?(KIENGIR (talk) 12:46, 13 March 2021 (UTC))[reply]
Well, in that case I guess it doesn't matter if its upper case or not... and regarding the public holiday matter, I think counties don't have the power to declare public holidays, I think the Romanian Parliament has to approve them, and no public holiday is specifically declared to be local. For example, if I remember correctly, the laws promulgating the Dobruja and Bukovina days made them national, not just for the counties in those regions. I am not sure of this anyway, but it might be better to just say day instead of public holiday. Super Ψ Dro 12:55, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Is the name really written with upper case letters according to Romanian rules, by the way? Åttiotrean 226 13:02, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. All websites use it like that. Super Ψ Dro 13:03, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was referring to formal rules. Do you have any sources to back this spelling up? I am curious. Åttiotrean 226 14:06, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No. Super Ψ Dro 13:12, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Then I guess I will look into the matter myself. With my knowledge of Moldovan, I should have few problems navigating through Romanian grammar books. Åttiotrean 226 13:17, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A more exact date[edit]

Does anyone know when this day started being celebrated? I find little information about this through just a Google search and I think it would be a good addition to the article. As far as I have heard, it did not start just after the execution of the three revolutionaries. Åttiotrean 226 14:41, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Such things are obscure and hard to find. They are not completely necessary to find so I have never researched in depth enough as to find it. Super Ψ Dro 14:45, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Do let me know if you happen to find it! If we cannot find an exact date, we should at least be able to find the earliest source backing it up, which should be enough for now. Åttiotrean 226 14:48, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
6 January 2012.(KIENGIR (talk) 17:09, 14 March 2021 (UTC))[reply]
Really? That’s later than I expected. Thanks! Åttiotrean 226 17:56, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
