I am proposing this article for deletion. This is for the following reasons:
It never cites a single source. Totally unsourced from beginning to end.
Even in the Bibliography there is not one book on the topic of Spanish Baroque literature.
The article does not deal with its stated topic. Instead there are little brief histories of some Spanish authors, without saying why or in what way or according to whom these authors are Baroque or wrote Baroque literature. In only two of them does the word “Baroque” even appear, and briefly at that.
The reason there is no book on Spanish Baroque literature cited is because there isn’t one. (I checked this by putting Spanish Baroque literature and Literatura barroca española into http://worldcat.org.) No book with the words Spanish Baroque literature in its title has ever been published.
There is a little bit of literature, in the seventeenth century, that can arguably be called Baroque. This article hardly deals with it. (Baroque is a concept from art history, not literature.) To say that Cervantes is Baroque is unhelpful at best, arguably absurd.
I’m taking this up with the Spanish WP also. deisenbe (talk) 15:58, 19 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi deisenbe, good morrow. I ascertain that you are very knowledgeable on the topic. As stated on its talk page, the article is a translation from es:Literatura española del Barroco. Some bibliography is given there. Maybe the article could be improved instead of deleted? Mayhaps the article could be renamed to "Spanish 17th century literature"?
