Title & NPOV concerns[edit]

this seems pretty general, there have been several crane collapses in Seattle over the last 5 years, at least on in 2017 and one in 2014. Also, as it is a developing story, it might be better to hold off on any major additions until all the facts are available. - Montie Negro — Preceding unsigned comment added by Montie Negro (talkcontribs) 01:25, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Montie Negro: Wikipedia is not static and is meant to cover breaking news once secondary sources have had their fill. As The Seattle Times and national outlets have picked up this story, it's entirely appropriate to have an article; the long term impact of this event is likely to outweigh the previous crane incidents, especially since it killed four people. Wikipedia is not news.

We're supposed to see that something is notable then write a Wikipedia article but I am willing to do the reverse, which is to have the article then assess.

Though the BBC is not the final judge, if the story is picked up by the BBC and there is a follow up story, then it could very well be newsworthy. If it is just local and national news for a day or two, then that suggests it's just news. Aerostar3 (talk) 02:07, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Very telling is the "See also" section of the article. 3 articles are mentioned but 2 of them are actually not Wikipedia articles of the crane collapse but links to Wikipedia articles on the building. This may mean that this article shouldn't be an article but redirected to the building article, if any.Aerostar3 (talk) 02:10, 28 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I agree on this being too soon. The incident happened at 3:30PM, then Seattle Times story came out around 4:30PM and this article was created at 5:06PM the same day, not even two hours after it happened. See WP:DELAY. Graywalls (talk) 08:26, 29 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Memorial[edit]

A metal memorial was constructed by the deceased's union (Iron Workers Local 86+29) with the names of the deceased and placed in the median of Mercer St. I can capture a good photo and add to the article if it would be interesting. SethT (talk) 02:09, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
