Not an autobiography[edit]

The editor LSwiki092018 has explained at the Teahouse that she is not the subject, and her username before she changed it was similar to the subject so that she could create it easily. She also says that she has no personal relationship with Thayumanavan. So I have removed the {{autobiography}} tag. --ColinFine (talk) 16:51, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What does this paragraph even mean?[edit]

Thayumanavan’s early work involved contributions to the design, syntheses, and self-assembly behavior of amphiphilic homopolymers.[5][6] His research uses molecular design principles from physical organic chemistry to synthetic chemistry and supramolecular polymer chemistry for applications in materials and biomedicine.[4]

LSwiki092018, this seems to say the same thing twice and doesn't make much sense. Leave out all the public relations words like "focus", "founded in", "alongside the toolsets of" and write in plain English. Better to leave this all out and write what he did in those papers. Adding a photo[edit]

Now I wanted to know how to insert a valid photo. Can I use from the university or request one from the subject of the article and use it LSwiki092018 (talk) 16:01, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

LSwiki092018, you can add a photo but copyright is very important here. The only one who can give Wikipedia permission to use the photo is the person who took the photo, not the person in the photo. The university public relations department may have a photo for which they have the copyright. The copyright holder needs to understand the types of licenses Wikipedia uses - they allow commercial reuse. Have them read c: Commons:First steps/License selection.

It is best to have the copyright holder or their representative upload the photo. See the instructions at c:Commons:First steps/Uploading files. If they don't want to make an account and do the upload, you can do that part. They would then go to c:Commons:Wikimedia OTRS release generator and follow the instructions. They will need to know the link to the image you uploaded. This will produce a release as described at c:Commons:Email templates.

I have only done this once and didn't find it easy. Can you make arrangements to take a picture yourself? That would be simpler. StarryGrandma (talk) 07:08, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The "orphan" tag[edit]
