Wrong picture[edit]

According to the blog, already linked from this page, the image with this article is not a painting of the subject of the page. It is a Gainsborough painting of his son (also called Samuel, but a reverend).

Indeed, there are images of 2 paintings of SK senior, as well as the same painting of SK junior available on that blog page.

If this is indeed an error, it seems to stem from the Google Arts page that is linked from the caption. It claims Gainsborough painted the Rev'd Samuel Kilderbee in 1758 and gives his dates as 1725-1813. That would make him 33, but it is surely a painting of a young teenager.

I'm afraid I'm not versed enough in the way Wikipedia handles images (and rights to images) to make the necessary corrections to the page. --BobBriscoe (talk) 15:28, 22 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

However,...[edit]

...according to ancestry, SK junior's dates were 1759-1847 (also I have found a baptism record in 1759), which would make him pre-natal at the date Google's Arts page says Gainsborough painted his portrait. Nonetheless, this wikimedia page says Gainsborough painted this portrait in c. 1770. --BobBriscoe (talk) 13:25, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
