More biographical details[edit]

I've made a start at adding Roy Ashton's career as an operatic tenor. Searching for info, I found what appears to be a fuller biography on Facebook, but I'm not sure about Wikipedia's policy of using this as a source, though the information looks highly plausible to me. In fact, if you look up the source it didn't say anything like that. It only states that Ashton was the man who made up Prudence Hyman as the Gorgon, while Pearson created the snakes and special effects. The photograph of Pearson also appeared, rightly attributed, in various books, including Wayne Kinsey's "Hammer Films: The Unsung Heroes", Tomahawk Press, Sheffield 2010 (there on page 422 with an entry on Pearson).Uwe Sommerlad (talk) 21:44, 21 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

When I read in the caption on that website the phrase "makeup man Roy Ashton applied the hideous skin and makeup to Hyman" against the description of Pearson making snakes and animating them, I took it to mean that the man depicted, who is not dealing with snakes, is Ashton. If you have sources describing the man in this picture as Pearson, you should remove this image from the article. As that will lead to the removal of the image from Wikipedia, you should present the sources here in the same way that sources for a claim are normally presented in articles – unless you want to leave the picture in the article and elaborate that it's not Ashton. I wonder whether User:Alfietucker, who introduced it, has any further insights. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 05:53, 22 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for having taken so long to respond - I've been away from Wikipedia for quite a while. I've looked into this, and my apologies: the photo is indeed not of Roy Ashton, but of Syd Pearson, as confirmed by the caption of the same picture reproduced in Ashton's autobiography (to which I did not have access when I originally sourced the picture). I will see about amending details on the file, and have it removed from the Roy Ashton article if it hasn't been already. Alfietucker (talk) 17:14, 6 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
