Exclusively genetic?

The last sentence of the lead mentions in passing genetic disorders; does this term refer only to genetic disorders? Or does it include (eg) Herpes zoster? --Una Smith (talk) 17:15, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

The content added here, ignored pretty much everything at User talk:MKoehler/sandbox. Additionally, I linked there a discussion I opened at WT:MED about the proposed edit, where several experienced health/medicine weighed in. See here. Jytdog (talk) 05:49, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

The content did not ignore the suggestions. Inline citations were added, the term patient was eliminated, etc. There is very likely still editing to be done but removing it all is uncalled for. As to whether the topic should be the subject of a WP page, I read through the discussion on [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Medicine/Archive_95#Class_of_diseases.3B_format_of_article.3F_Phakomatosis_and_User:MKoehler.2Fsandbox here] and did not see a consensus opinion. So, until a consensus is reached, I think it should be here. It is much more useful to let the editors know what still needs to be changed than to just delete all of their work. As Phakomatosis is not a single disease but a family of different diseases I agree it would be best to have a section that provides an overview of each rather than the other layout. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:57, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

If you had just allowed the students the time to re-organize they will get there. I require my students to listen to and respond to critiques not only from class but also outside editors such as yourself. This is pointless and really souring me on the whole Wikipedia Education Foundation program after five years of participating. MMBiology (talk) 23:05, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

While User:MMBiology typically we stay with the status quo until consensus is developed.

Their work is sitting here if they wish to work on it further.

Bunch of other issues aswell (1) refs go after punctuation (2) most diseases are not written with every term capitalized. Advice on how to format refs can be found at WP:MEDHOW. Should stick with review articles.

Secondary Student Review

I understand that this was a rather difficult Wiki article to pretty much create and it took you a while to put it up on main space, however I think that there is a lot of information lacking. From what is up at this moment, the initial paragraph gives a good overview of the topic. I also think the addition of examples and external resources were helpful especially since there isn't much consensus on the condition. Overall, I think a lot could be added, but from what is there, it seems pretty good!Paige MU (talk) 02:57, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Secondary Student Review

I think that the new information intended to be added to the page was well written and very clear. Although it seems like there is a bit of a struggle to get the page into main space, I really learned a lot from what the authors have intended to add. One way to improve the page found in the sandbox, here, would be to add links to the diseases when they are first mentioned in the first paragraph under signs and symptoms.
